Just seen the film and I enjoyed this interview afterwards. The film is superb in every way. It really had a big emotional impact on me. An instant classic, in my opinion. 10/10

Incredible film, my favourite of 2022
The sensitivity and heartfelt emotion is off the scale . . .
The quiet attention to detail such as the Sacred Heart in the kitchen . .
The Loving family cleaning a glass with a tea towel before serving . .
The night scenes of Irish pre bedroom rituals was absolutely spot on . . .
    10/10 . .
I thought I was at my Aunts house in Tipperary . . .
    Amazing Film

Treise leat Colm, an foireann uile agus TG4/Cine4/Congratulations Colm and the whole team involved in making this breakthrough film! In my humble opinion, this movie could also be a metaphor for Ireland itself 'Caitlin Ni h-Uallachain', in the sense that she suffered centuries of turbulence and was 'silenced' from using her native tongue under pain of death for speakers, lest they be plotting revolution. English is a strangulating language when it comes to expressions of emotion, a straight-jacket on the tongue. Bualadh Bos! 🍀💚

Wow, you are right. The language aspect of the film really supports this interpretation.

111 Comhghairdeas libh go léir! Ag súil go mór é a fheiceáil in Nua Eabhrac. Excellent informative discussion. I read today in 1840 more people spoke Irish in Ireland than spoke Dutch, Swedish, Finnish...in their respective countries. Another exciting development- IRISH now has full status as an official EU language!

The film can be seen across the cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, ??? over the next few weeks. It starts in Sydney in Melbourne 1st September to 4th for which Comhaltas Melbourne are providing the music for the opening night. Look up Irish Film Festival Australia 2022. The films are also going on line afterwards . There is a great selection.

Is Colm Bairéad Irish American? He sounds like he's lived in America for a long time or something

He was raised with the Irish language which might affect his otherwise fairly standard middle class Dublin accent, though I can't hear anything unusual

Nah, not hearing any American, pretty typical mild Dublin area accent.

It's a middle class dublin accent but yes some pronounciations sound American. He probably watches a lot of American tv.

If this is a new film and not yet released, how can it have a 5 star rating....!

    • @michaeldowd5545
      @michaeldowd5545 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

It deserves 5 stars. Slow so slow but so so so immersive. Simple so simple, but so so deep. Silent so so silent but so so strong.
