      He is on record saying he wanted to take deep, layered tracks and throw dirt on them and strip them down to the bare bones so the lyrics would be the star and people would listen to his message about mental health. Amazing. This and KSG are phenomenal and idk why people always trash them.

    The album is gorgeous and it is transparent. People want him to break down every thing he said regarding Trump and Slavery BUT HE ALREADY DID the same day and in the rest of the interview. I do agree his lyrics were a little lackluster but when your listening to Kanye your basically listening to art and have to appreciate it as a whole. The album was great.

    Post-808s Kanye is increasingly his true self. He was putting on a show College Dropout - Graduation because hiphop and the greater "black community" never accepted him. He didn't feel free to express him, he never did. You can hear it in College Dropout. He always felt like the outsider, he was the kid with pink polo's and skinny jeans in the Jerseys and baggy pants era. His whole life he's had to balance being himself and being a part of the homogenous community that he is apart of. He has done a ton of work expanding the acceptable identity of a black man and like 808s and Heartbreaks, 'ye' is another great leap forward.

The point ye was really making is the majority of people that want to give opinions and criticize haven’t done shit to be successful in their own lives or they’re building their success on the coattails of real artists. Facts. Yeah And I read a lot and I know that all of the best artists who have a legacy in music history have never given a shit about what lame ass critics say.

    Far too many people want are are stuck on the "college dropout" kanye. Thats not him anymore. It was stated that this album didnt sound like a complete thought. That seems to be the thought....he designed it to not come across as a polished complete thought because that is where he is and if you hear his colleagues talk thats how he relays information right now. This was kanye's 4:44. He is not a rap artist anymore, he is an artist that raps...there is a huge distinction there. Not his "best" (not far from it imo) but FAR from even bringing "his worst" into conversation.

    • @ezraprzytyk
      @ezraprzytyk 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      i liked them both... cole gave me lots more content to listen to (more songs and consistently way better lyrics) but kanye made every song really intriguingly different and better in quality/production with a crazy vibe. honestly i liked pusha ts album the best and i wasnt even a fan of him before. kanyes production on it is insane 10/10. short like kanyes album, better lyrics, oldschool kanye production and not too experimental.

      Ezra Przytyk pusha t album was weak, he literally sounded the same on every song, he must be thanking kanye for the production because that’s all that was good. Cole album was good, it had good lyrics and i liked the way he experimented with a different sound, kanye album was edgy and i felt it was more personal to him rather than trying to appeal to the mainstream, prolly just signaling that he’s at a woke point in his life where he is extremely content with himself imo

    I'm only 10 minutes in and I lost all respect for Jinx and buddy with the dreads. They don't know what it's like to be Kanye, nor were they even attempting to put themselves in his shoes for one second. At a certain point, I'm sure Ye was exactly who we all believed him to be since "College Dropout". But you can see exactly how the industry, the money and the fame effected who he was becoming. Everybody around Kanye, and his fans give him a certain amount of expectations and it fishbowls him into this area of his mind that he wants to get away from. But everybody and every thing around him encourage him to "be this" and "do that". Everybody is hurt by how Kanye expressed his own sense of freedom with the whole MAGA hat shit. But they still haven't been willing to understand where his point of views actually come from.

While the production and is still incredible, it’s a lot more simple and striped away from the glamorous vocal and productional affects. And over the top intense production (not saying I think this is anything bad). And while it may not be the best Kanye album ever, it’s still a very good and well put together album. Lyrically it’s good as well.

    Ye is my favorite kanye album, tied with MBDTF. And if you are wondering, YES I was born in 95 so i grew up on people like Kanye, Wayne, 50 cent, Ludacris. I started listening to Kanye when he first came out and I can appreciate his progression.
    You guys went into this album thinking it was going to answer for his behavior, but its an album, it s a piece of art.
    I keep hearing the terms "scattered" "half baked" but hes owing that, hes saying these are his flaws. "scattered" is how it is sometimes, which is how the art can come out. How are ya'll not connecting the dots?????

    I hear what Mouse is saying about the bear albums. I won't say it wasn't him but those albums had definite purposes. He really is a master of his craft. He knows how to be unique but play by the rules just enough to be understood and appreciated accross the board. He knows how to make hits but I don't think he wanted his legacy to be all about that. He wants to challenge the culture even when it makes us feel uncomfortable. Think about it, he has said that he doesn't really like Gold Digger and how Yeezus is a much better album in his opinion than MBDTF. He said he made MBDTF as the "perfect" album because he had to come back with something undeniable. He knows his music is polarizing now and I think it's very intentional. He wants that discussion. Plus his more polarizing stuff tends to be the more influential.

    You gotta know what you're talking about if you come onto these shows... Kanye went to Chicago State University, hardly an art school. That's where he dropped out from (yes, he went to an art academy first, but changed to CSU)
    He says "HBCU vibes" on College Dropout but that's what he took from it. A State school in an area with a large African-American population, *hmmm could there possibly be AA fraternities??????*
    I went to a State school in the Bay Area and we had AA frats.

      How this man say Swimming Pools by Kendrick is not made for the radio??? Good Kid MAAD City had like 6 radio singles.
      Then he said King Kunta is not for the radio. Hmmm, it was the only song off TPAB that was radio friendly (not including the single edit of "i"). Not even "Alright" was a radio friendly song, and that was the most culturally impactful track.

    With his line about sway - I interpret it as sway at the time told him in his own way slavery to corporations was a choice & he completely refused to believe in sways words. But now, he came to realize that (mental) slavery was a choice - slavery to a 9-5, to corporations (Yeezy his billion dollar baby is an expression of his current freedom) and he phrased his current view of freedom in a super shocking way (true) BUT if everyone steps away from their feelings about slavery for a minute, they’d understand he was not really speaking about slavery but mental slavery.
    Even that is questionable since not everyone has access to education, but we’ve seen people born in extreme poverty make because they cut their mental chains lose and learned their way to the top.

    • @youcefbenbecher4628
      @youcefbenbecher4628 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      By the way when Yeezus came out he thought himself as a slave, buying new chains, etc. (also I think Yeezus is like the Rick Owens of hip hop albums - like WOW, rockstar, avant-garde, crazy)

    I think his scattered thoughts made a beautiful energy. In my life recently I've come to the conclusion where I don't believe in good or bad energy. But him being honest and giving his truth in this album will help a lot of people dealing with stuff in their minds, and that's the most beautiful part for me. If you have a mental illness or you're over all just dealing with something, you are not sicker than a normal person, you've just being categorized to something, and that should not stop you from doing stuff. Get purely out of your mind and give your truth to the world cause it's beautiful.

Most of the tracks sound like he just recorded his voice over things and the low end on the kicks doesn’t come through at all.

    I agree, men should not have an epiphany to respect women at 40 years old. That is way tooo old. Why are women expected to mature early in their lives but men are commended for maturing really late in their life. I am disappointed the only woman in the panel is the only one giving men an excuse. How pitiful lol!

      Amarachi Duru I don’t believe it’s giving an excuse I do believe she’s saying people don’t learn at the same time and they’re not supposed to. Doesn’t mean he wasn’t taught but it may have just now resonated with him until his daughters. Mouse learned at 17 because he had a daughter then. Kanye learned later when he had his own daughter. We can’t blame Ye for not having his child at 17 or not making the same decisions that led to that growth earlier in his life.

      DUGGA 666 You don’t have to want to wife up or date women who dress provacative. But you should respect everyone. Respect does not equal wife up. It’s in the Bible, Jesus respected even the prostitutes. You should respect everyone on a basic humane level. How does this go back to me wanting to be a victim. Where is the correlation? I’m serious, what is your point there?

    The thing people don't understand about bipolar is that it's a personality disorder that the mood last a good time like 3 to 4 days of just being sad and that's minimum, your chemical imbalance can stay the same for years. It's honestly the worst mental condition normal people can get because I feel that depressed people can learn how to deal with it because there either normal or depressed but they don't know the highs of bipolar and the only thing close to it is cocaine and the high last for days of no sleep and you overspend and it just sucks and then the lows come in and often this creates bipolar to do drugs like cocaine to be able to reach that high.

    "ye" was an unapologetic approach to the real kanye, the struggles he faces behind closed doors and his perspective on that. If you're complaining about you "don't wanna hear his rants" then you have no place judging the man and his art. The production was insane, the way he used the other artists contributions as instruments, the soul behind the album is unravelled, It's easy to listen from start to finish (repeat) and I know damn well we'll be playing ghost town and violent crimes to all our children. Y'all are misinformed/hating and worst part is you'll change your minds off camera, talmbout "iTs bAD"

    I personally think Kanye isn't a "short album" guy. Him being so scattered minded & a genius producer w/ so many sounds on his belt, this album should've been longer. He has a lot of pockets he can go in & out of seamlessly, which is why his album never seem as long as they are until you look at the tracklist. Listening to this, I'm don't all the way "feel it" until I'm 3/4 of the way in & once that feeling of "okay I see where it's going" comes, it's over. Not a bad project, I just wanted more to fully flush out what he is trying to convey.

    As an artist myself I think this is one of Kanye's best works, and funny enough the reason I love it is the same reason y'all say you don't like it. It's scattered and raw and unfiltered and EXTREMELY current, like it was finished the same day it dropped. I don't like shit extra polished and cleaned up because that's not real: human error is what makes it the most relatable. D'Angelo's Voodoo is my favorite album and he purposely took advantage of human error in the cadence, singing, and lyrics. I like Kanye the person: bipolar, not politically correct, unfiltered & wild. I won't say this is his best album, but it feels like the most true to self Kanye album he's released, and that's why (as an artist) I give it an A+. Making art isn't always about everyone else's opinion, it's about expressing yourself honestly, and that's exactly what ye did.

    Kanye didn’t say he wanted to be on radio, let me put this back into context. Charlamagne asked what caused you to break down . To which kanye responded with a slew of reasons from the residual hate from Taylor Swift, the pressures of the fashion industry, the pressures of the music industry especially with him being THE KANYE WEST, and he just happened to mention the competition between his peers, he said not that he wants to be on the radio but that he sees others being more successful and he felt as if he was trapped in this mindset that he was supposed to be KANYE WEST and he felt as if he was being drowned out ,a mindset caused by that mental crutch, which caused him to break down amongst other things.
    Please get this in context I wish others would stop misinterpreting this

    • @cloud9133
      @cloud9133 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you understand this then you’ll understand why he’s so diametrically opposes this idea of a perfect individual who has to do everything right at all times, something he has mentioned as one of the things he thinks made it harder for Obama to do what he actually wanted to do, but of course people twisted that again into “He hates obama” . I know it sounds repetitive but alot of things kanye says will go over your head if the utmost attention is not given, I watched that interview about 2-3 Times to even really get the points he was trying to get at

    Most of Jinx's and Mouse Jones's "criticism" stems entirely from their inability to just let go of the past. It's ignorance hidden under the guise of articulation and development, but these guys can't let go and accept the fact that he was never the bear.
    They haven't accepted the fact that we know literally nothing about Ye, only what he's let us see over the years. He's imperfect. He's either always been bipolar, or became so when his mother died, we just don't know. His tendency to give off half-baked writings and ideas has always been an issue, this album is a body of art it's not meant for you or me. it's just a man laying aspects of his life he doesn't even fully understand out as best he can in a short period of time,
    and why should we fault him for it, we're ultimately the ones who choose to listen. i'm not saying we should love it, but we should understand the body of work for what it is, not what it failed to be or could've been.
    Sonically, it's a fucking master piece, Jones and Jinx have the nerve to underrate the production. Calling it "expected". They probably have probably never touched an instrument, learned a chord, or spent hours chopping up that sample till you get the right sound.
    All of the songs except Yikes, are master pieces of production. Jones said he wants polish, clean, articulate sounds and lyrics, well that's selfish, Ye is literally just getting back from a mental break down, I didn't hear anyone mention that.
    Some bitch is gonna say this is dick riding, but noones perfect homie. i don't like to judge and thats what these guys did too much of. The comments kep shitting on the woman, but without her Jinx and Mouse's seemingly intelligent discussion would've fooled you guys into believing their load of shit.
    Torrez the only one on the panel understanding of his mental disability and how fans just want the “hot shit” and not the complexities that comes with being a generally hated superstar, pulled in 50 directions, having hundreds of families that depend on your success and sanity, Jones being a perfect example of this.
    They do mention the interviews he's done, but spend mere seconds on it preferring to resort to the judgement of Ye rather than understanding
    These are not music critics, Torrez the only one with actual industry pull is being shit on. Formulate your own opinion, half of these comments are literally just praising the echo chamber without even realizing it. And the echo chamber of Jinx, Jones, and just finding stuff to hate.
    You may not like the person, but music is art and a key to "good" art is emotion which is what kanye did with this album and i'm impressed.

      @killagee13 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      When you make declarative statements and then not give context to those statements that leaves any artist regardless of medium or genre to be critiqued. Kanye had surface level lyrical delivery on Ye and if people chose to critique him for that then I think that’s fair.
      Sonically, I agree with you it’s wonderfully produced and it’s very fitting for the subjects that Kanye tries to tackle.
      However, the writing and story telling on the album is weak and at points very cringy (especially the last song). That’s my own subjective, opinion though. And we can’t look at this album in a vacuum. If Kanye goes on a entire press circuit and makes outrageous claims without explanation (which is a theme in the album as well) it’s only rational for people to want to find answers in the music. Kanye doesn’t HAVE to give his audience answers but I would argue then why make the art at all?

    1) Kanye scrapped his original album and started all over. So, these songs were rushed but that is what makes it so beautiful. I really enjoyed the album. It was raw. I liked the rawness of it. Now, is it his best...no but it's better than most.
    2) As for Violent Crimes.....best song on the album for me. But, for you guys to expect Kanye to be where you are when you had a daughter at 17 vs Kanye having a daughter at approx. 35 is silly. Men often don't change until they get that daughter, so it depends on the age you get your first daughter. Also, just because he has this song on this album doesn't mean he JUST changed. You can change in 2016 and create a song about it in 2018.
