My dream of moving to seattle is finally coming true in june! I was born and raised in San Diego CA but ever since I can remember I would just stare at pictures of seattle and look at hour long videos about living in seattle. Soon enough ill call it home.
***** Haha, you sound exactly like me. I was also considering SF or NYC but I don't think I'd ever be able to afford those places. Good luck figuring it out!
Congrats! Haha, same here as far as born/raised in San Diego; something about the greenery and crystal-cool of Seattle mesmerizes me as well. Good luck and I hope it's all you hoped for and more!
Great information, thanks for sharing. I currently live in Seattle but I just found out that D.R. Horton is now building in Seattle and I am so excited I love the houses they build and the communities are just what I have wanted! being a home owner is exciting.
I can relate. I'm from Calif and I now live in NV...I was looking into Colorado as well....but I've heard so much about Seattle, Wa...and after watching the many videos tonight....I think it's worth checking out. Good luck! :)
After grabbing my law degree..this is one of the many places I would LOVE to live in. This place is definitely one of the top three places on my list of possibilities ;)
I dream of Seattle. I am going to visit very soon.....I feel that I am drawn there....water, rock bands, books stores, and COFFEE.....I can't wait. I just want to have the right person with me...don't want to have a friend complaining the entire time....I love your video.
Looks great! I was born in Chicago and lived in Boston and NYC. I'm tired of the fast pace, hustle and bustle of the east coast. I'm ready to settle down and enjoy a beautiful and peaceful scenery. The only think I fear is the SeattleFreeze rumors. I'm kind of extroverted but I'm very intelligent too and I fear that I won't make any friends.
Thanks for the encouragement. I always hear people say that places like Seattle or Boston is hard but places like NYC are easy. Everyone told me that Boston was going to be terrible to meet people. But I made a ton of friends in Boston within a couple of months! And then everyone told me that NYC was going to be a great place to be and make friends. But NYC was the opposite for me. It was a tough place to make friends and I didn't like living there. So I should just see for myself because my experiences are unique to me. Who knows...Seattle maybe hot for me!! Haha
No problem :) Yep like you said you should just see for yourself. If you don't you'll always have a "what if" in the back of your mind. Seattle has been calling me for over 2 years and I've been hesitant because most of my family and friends are on the East Coast. I decided to give myself a year in Seattle to see how I handle being away from family/friends. If it sucks, I'll move back home or try somewhere else but at least I know now. Boston is really nice city. I loved it almost as much as Seattle until I saw the rental prices! Holy crap that place is expensive. I'm sure the pay is higher but I couldn't even find a studio for under $1000. Sheesh!!!
You can only really live in Seattle if you are a person that can withstand light deprivation and not go crazy. Some days during the winter we hardly get any light. If you can withstand the long winters that are dreary and wet, then the payoff is well worth it during the spring and summer. During the summer it's a really beautiful place to be. But the first winter is the hardest. If you adjust to the rain and lack of light, then you can live here forever.
Black Reaper A.K.A. Hei Yeah, living here I've started to like the winters, even though they can drag on. We get a lot of rain and fog, but not as much as most people would expect. It's definitely a great place if you love winter!
I live on Long Island in New York right now, but next year I'm going to be attending the University of Washington in Seattle. I was planning on staying somewhere in WA after college, can anyone recommend the best cities and school districts?
u distinct is where the college is. it's crowded and expensive. start with the south suburbs if your not in the dorms. like sea tac, the airport suburb or federal way. it's a long commute by bus or train but it's worth it if your on a budget.
I live in Washington area ( Olympia *the Capital of WA) for over 25years and I love every moment of it. People are more relax, and friendly (compare to EastCoast :(***..Got married and.moved to Delaware in 2006...this place sucks!!! Its so deppressing here and I developed allergies from pollutions and pollen. No clean rivers or lakes..they are brown btw....the only place I can go fishing is Pennsylvania area. I keep telling my husband that we need to relocate to Washington area. Maybe someday....until then, I will keep filling up my allergy meds.
Roger Schwarzinger : I lived in downtown Seattle for 7 years . It is a very walkable city. I love Portland too. Portland is a laid back city and there isn't any sales tax. You can't pump your own gas this is all done for you. It's weird but I love it!
For black people moving/living in Seattle I recommend tanning in the tanning bed to get your Vitamin D. Or get prescription Vitamin D from your Doctor. Seattle care little about Fashion or Labels. Capitol is the BIG gay area, which is why it was glossed over in this video. IF your love White people and White Culture it is great. I had White friends who left because there were "to many white people" LOL.. I stayed. I liked it!! ~Ex- seatlite
I can say I always had a job. There is racism there, I would not recommend a black person moving there in 2015. In 2005 it was cool, but with the tech bubble, the culture is geared toward white male liberals. I had trouble finding product for my hair and such and such.its cold without sunlight and now I hear it's really crowded. There is no black neighborhood anymore due to gentrification. I got subtle economic racism like Being paid $3/ hour less than my white male colleague to Do the same job when I had more experience and education. They discriminate like that. Being black in Seattle you are at a disadvantage. I feel. I would try NYC, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, or a state that is rich. Look up the richest states then cross reference them with large black populations and you should do well. 1) would be dc Maryland .
I agree I don't think Seattle is that diverse in that sense. For me the weather's usually too cold, and it's expensive to live but I'm from the south, so not saying much because it's cheaper down there. Ehh. Seattles ok it's a good place for jobs. I agree about the Vita D. Im a Sun person so every yr I fly down to Cali.
Yes, It rains but not much as New-York, Per weather Almanac, it's about San Francis, if you're moving just after high school, have fun surviving.. You need a good education to survive in Seattle..where Boeing, Microsoft, Google, Amazon and Starbucks companies having Head Quarter or Production lines. Remember it always 9 months cloudy :-)
VeloxStang *clears throat* Jan-Jun, Sep-Dec. Ten months really. God how I love June in Seattle. Always takes the transplants by surprise. It's 60-some degrees and overcast. Rain tomorrow. Ahahahahaha suck it. Go back to Cali.
lol it's not *always* cloudy for 10 months. Seattle is not that bad compared to most of the cities in Europe and Tokyo; they're all cloudier than Seattle and nobody complains
Sorry to be a debbie downer, but rush hour is from 7am-8pm and the worst drivers ever. 3 lanes at the busiest section of the freeway. There is constant light rains and we never get snow. Most people are very rude and uptight. No parking. Plus there are dragons… lots of dragons.
Universal035 Seattle is a pretty safe city all told, as long as you're out of the core after midnight. If you were to draw a box from the corners of a diagonal line from Sodo to the Central District, that would be the area to avoid in the wee hours. Otherwise pretty much every place else is "safe" all hours, except South Park, but then that's dangerously close to White Center and points south. (a subjective term, this isn't Iceland after all). If you really want to know about the city, watch old Almost Live sketches... ;P
Heh, and when did your family come to Seattle? My great grandfather was a logger, my grandfather worked for Boeing for 30 years, and both my parents went to Ballard High School. What's your cred that you presume to assume the mantle of Lesser Seattle and the KBO? Do you even know what that is?
I lived 8 years in seattle and it was pure hell. Cramped, high traffic congestion, slow drivers with no gumption or common sense, WSDOT intentionally causing congestion to punish, it rained constantly. This video seemed to only show sunny bright days. It rained July 4th one time and I was so depressed. The nanny laws make it a consumption tax state. The passive aggressive fucks who try and cut you off in a retail line and then give you a smug dead goat eye staredown. I am extremely happy I left to Texas.
be weary... if you're moving just after high school, have fun surviving.. You need a good education to survive in Seattle... Seattle is HIGHLY expensive, and without a degree, good luck finding a job to pay for Seattle expenses.. Don't forget it's a city... not a rural area.
PLEASE STOP MOVING TO SEATTLE I BEG OF YOU. MY RENT HAS GONE UP BECAUSE OF THE POPULATION GROWTH. AND THE TRAFFIC HERE IS TERRIBLE. PLEASE JUST VISIT. Thank you this has been a PSA
Rent for a box they call an apartment here is way over priced, you'd have to be a sucker who will buy anything to think that it's ok to burn your hard earned money every month on an apartment here
Seattle is second tier to the San Francisco Bay Area. Seattle rains alots, which suck. Why show the good side of Seattle? Show the bad area too like the ghetto the project...etc..
I'd love to live there.I'm a bit tired of Texas.Plus I bet they still accept grunge music which I play On guitar and listen to where over here it's all rap and New age rock.
There's not much of a music scene left in an area where it's preeminent music club is now a hair salon. The live music nightlife is as dead as the dodo most everywhere these days. People are content with Ipod DJs and performers free styling over prerecorded tracks. I hope this changes.
BrandonSeattle Seattle was grunge before grunge was grunge. The music scene, sadly, has taken the shit kicking most music scenes have taken. The pacific northwest punk scene was unparalleled, as well.

OMG! I don't know how I find myself in this rubbish seattle and the rest of the rubbish cities around. My body is still here but my soul is out of here for a very long time.

I might be moving to san Ramon from seattle
I could see myself living, getting married, and raising a family in Seattle!
Great information, thanks for sharing. I currently live in Seattle but I just found out that D.R. Horton is now building in Seattle and I am so excited I love the houses they build and the communities are just what I have wanted! being a home owner is exciting.
I love Seattle I've been there 3 times!! and the buildings are beautiful and the Seahawks stadium is so big I love Seattle!!!
Love my beautiful city.

I enjoyed my visit to seattle, it's a beautiful city.
Nice video. This has me hungry for Seattle. I can't wait to move to Washington.
Planing to move to Seattle in 3 years. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California.
Please don't. For reference see Almost Live - The Last Northwesterner
I used to live in Everett, north of Seattle. I'm hoping to return to the Pacific Northwest again.
Can't wait to move there :) So excited
I'm looking to move there this month! Early September!
definetly want to live here one day, reminds me of the bay area with 4 seasons,
Impressed by the video.
If you are moving here, check out the D.R. Horton homes in Puyallup WA they are incredible!
just because you can't survive doesn't mean others can't ;)
do what makes you happy Daniel Tejeda!
Definitely moving to Seattle.
Seattle just looks like what I would picture my home to be.. Englands never felt like home to me, This just seems like.. perfect and homely. (:
I was in a 2year long distance relationship with a guy who lived in Renton, WA and I regret not hiking :( there's soo much to do !
I've only been to Seattle for field trip to Seattle Aquarium
and to go to the baseball games

I'd love to move here one day from the UK. It would be interesting to see what the main lifestyle differences are :-)
and I bet Seattle would LOVE you
:)
Seattle would LOVE you more
lol
:)
Carly McCalla Your from London?
Universal035 Yes I'm from London :-)
Carly McCalla That's real cool, what is like to live over there? I love London accents from People.
ughhhhh!!!! I NEED TO MOVE HERE!!!
It actually doesn't rain here as much as people think it does and Idk where that "9 months out of the year" line came from >.< Lol

I live in Yakima wa which is three hours away from Seattle it's pretty peaceful but big drug cartel and gangs
+Sadie Andreas cartels & gangs wasn't really outhere 20 years ago. I don't even recall any major drug crimes and murder cases there.
got a buddy there. im thinkin im headed west also from Minneapolis
Gosh I know when I visit its going to be hard to leave
Are the summers super humid ? I hate humid places
Seattle is not humid at all..I go to Chicago to visit family and practically die every-time form the humidity.
I have been living in Florida almost all of my life and I was wondering where would be a better place to move? Seattle or Portland?
If you are tight on budget, live in Portland. If you have money, live in Seattle.
the south suburbs is less crowded and expensive. like federal way and auburn. the city is turning into silicon valley north.
Okay thanks guys but I posted this July 31st, 2015 I already moved in like January 2016 lol
where'd you move to?

Oh and I am pleased to see the diverse of races in your vid. I always look at vids about Seattle and I rarely see black ppl....Thumbs Up :)

there are cute little towns every where out side of Seattle if you don't want to live directly in the city. they have beautiful houses. : ^ )

Knowing how expensive the cost of living is in Seattle how the hell can anyone afford to do anything. . .
Seattle is ok....just remember to carry an umbrella with you 300 days out of a year.
Fun! :D
I live here and it dosent rain a lot. Mostly always sunny in summer.
Seattle people don't carry umbrellas a lot. It rains as much as London but nobody carries an umbrella. It's just not American thing i guess
😅😂😭
jesse james :I think I met you once. Do you know Gary Word the glass artist?
Anyone from the Seattle area?
I am
