Great new toy Brian! That Gateway is a fine looking drum cooker. Love the color. Even doing a burn in ...sitting around a drinking a beer and watching that new toy just doesn’t get better. Well maybe when your cooking on it. Thanks bro!
Nice smoker. I have the Oklahoma Joe's Bronco Pro in an orange color that I got this past November. For whatever reason, I have always had trouble maintaining the temps on it. Not sure why? Was thinking of possibly selling it on Offer Up and then buying a Gateway or a Hunsaker. What are your thoughts between the two if you did compare them?
Oh sorry to hear that. And I love the gateway but I also have a Bronco pro. To be honest they both hold temps amazing. I’ve used the Bronco pro in the elements, blizzards, rain, wind and the thing holds temps like a champ. How are you controlling your temps. Chimney wide open and only mess with the intake?
@@MadHorseBBQ Yeah so I got my Bronco Pro after i saw your video when you got yours. I actually love that it is heavy like a tank, has a hinged heavy lid, and i love how you are able to hang your meat. Your meat hangs higher up than how its hangs lower down in a gateway or a hunsaker. I normally keep the intake and top vent completely open when I light my lump. Once the temp starts rising and I get it to where I want it to be I close the intake to where it is just a crack open. Then the top vent I play around with. I been bbqing for past few years but the temps seem to fluctuate for me. I can easily control temps on my Kamado Joe Big Joe 2 but this Bronco Pro is a bit of a different beast
@@TheProjectManager100 interesting. I always leave my top vent wide open. But wonder if there’s a leak somewhere in your grill? Like maybe where the barrel connects. I’d buy that thing right from ya if you lived close lol. And I believe you cause I think controlling the temp on a kamado takes more practice that a barrel.
Enjoyed the video , I agree , even lighting a smoker is therapeutic! I appreciate your videos and information, thanks for sharing .
The more drum videos I watch the more I want to get one. Looking forward to future cooks!
Heck ya Scott! And get yourself one!
I made my own UDS and it was super simple. I used the Big Poppa Smoker's UDS Kit.
@@FGUK1973 nice! I also made my own. I used the parts kit from UDSparts.com

Thanks Jay and I couldn’t agree with you more!
Can’t wait to see how that drum cooks 👍
Next weeks video you’ll get to see it in action!
How do you add charcoal when you start running low & you have meat on?
Might want to research oil dry in the bottom. Lots of guys say they recommend that to catch grease drippings and make easier cleanup
Oh ya for sure! I have a bag of the clay, fragrance fee kitty litter. Couldn’t find the oil dri.
@@MadHorseBBQ I found some stuff at ORiellys auto parts that seems to work ok. Thrifty Sorb. But ya sounds like you’ve got it covered! Awesome man!
@Aaron S what drum/drums do you have?
@@MadHorseBBQ just purchased straight up edition matte black gateway about 3 weeks ago
Nice!!would consider but there a $1000 too much for me +accessories, any opinion on the Pit Barrel 18"
I have 2 PBC’s and love them! You ever looked at the Oklahoma Joe’s Bronco?
@@MadHorseBBQ no but I will now thks Brian(here u had more beers than Ricer last weekend GOOD JOB!!
Haha ya I had just a few more! And for sure give the Bronco a look. You get a lot of bang for your buck compared to the PBC.
@@MadHorseBBQ Great vid! I'm waiting patiently for you to do another cook on the Bronco Pro. :)

Hi .What is the diameter of the pipes . Good luck.
Hmmmm not positive but I think they’re 2.5”
Do they come with hooks to hang meat
If you buy the meat hanger it comes with the hooks yes.
Did you light it up @ 4:20?
Hahaha not sure!
What would you consider your favorite drum style smoker?
Tough choice but Gateway 55g. I have 2 of them.
It's a shame how much these have gone up in price.
