She has always been a wet boat. Water tank vents used to leak when healed over. Used to be Ariel of Pemaquid Harbor Maine. We owned her for about six years years.
@@garrettsadventure Just keep doing what your doing. I am sure as far as the videos go, they will iron themselves out. You have good content in a great part of the world.
Hi Garret, congratulations on your choices, your wonderful Nor'Sea 27, on your decision to 'throw off your bowlines', as Mark Twain put it. 'Twenty years from now you will more regret the things you didn’t do, than the ones you did do. So sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.' That was my motto for about 20 years, while working very hard. This sentence kept my dream alife. And then, at the age of 57, I indeed threw off my bowlines. Crossing the atlantic ocean twice. But in a bit bigger boat. 37 feet of steel. And now I bought a boat very similar to yours. Allegro 27, double ender, built 1977 in Sweden, small and seaworthy. And love it. But still some leaks...😄. Will get a "windpilot pacific light' windvane selfsteering this winter. Next year England and Irland, the following year hopefully the Azores again.
Three things could reduce your lean. Take the outboard below deck. The propane tank, too. A hanking jib instead of a rolling furler reduces a lot of weight and drag aloft. You can also drop it in a storm and remove the jib rapidly to stitch repairs or store it out of the sun. You might consider storm sails if you don't have a pair. I like a previous post that I can watch your channel instead of doing chores.
Brown coolant indicates a crack in the cooling system. When transmission fluid mixes with coolant it will look mocha colored. The passage did not look to terrible from Kauai 😊👍🏻
@@garrettsadventure Wicked 😢 it’s definitely a test, more so on the captain then the vessel. Almost better to do it in a gale then with lighter winds. I maintained about 5.5 knots 1st reef in and anywhere from 6-12’ just forward of the beam and gust up to 40. The wife did not enjoy it to mich😅.
I just ran across your channel and I’m going through some of your older videos, but so far I haven’t seen a tour of your boat or even a description, unless I missed it? She’s really nice.. What is her make a model? Name? Just subscribed!
Well boss I don't know how you're made but I would definitely check and make sure I got all six sets of my balls, cuz you definitely be swinging godspeed and have a blast a safe bro
I have been watching your videos and noticed that you don’t seem to have radar on your boat. I know you have AIS but can that replace radar? Just a thought. I have always had radar and have had AIS for sometime now. Good luck and good sailing!
Thanks for sharing the video! I'd like to suggest investing in a better microphone with a wind shaggy thing. It was difficult to hear you in parts. Closed captions might help in lieu of a new microphone
Get a combustion system leak detector kit . Almost any Auto parts store or harbor freight it's a chemical test for carbon monoxide in the cooling system. A simple cheap $30 test that's 100% positive reliable
Hey there cousin in-law. Lol Love watching your progress! Me and the family are coming to Hawaii in early Feb. If your around the area I would love to check your boat out. Keep up the adventures. Your living the dream my man. Way to go!!! Good luck and safe sailing:)

I binge watched your channel this afternoon instead of working on my own boat. I enjoyed it very much! Please keep the videos coming...
Haha great! What can I do to make them better?

Reminds me of when I was young, learning to handle my Rhodes 19, in New Orleans.
Fun! I can't wait to get out there. I'm still in refit so watching these types of videos helps me stay motivated. 😆

It wasn’t horrible, or pleasant. Went 2.5 knots for the first 10 hours.

I haven’t made a tour yet, I’m going to soon though.
The boat is a 1978 Nor’sea 27 named Hooligan made by Heritage Marine
What do you do for a living and what's your name mate? Thanks for bringing us along for the ride
The name of the channel would likely be a pretty good guess as to Garrett’s name, but I could be wrong.
always bring milk & choc ice cream!!! chocolate milk shakes for days to keep weight on while sailing
This makes me think of the crab fishing boats and the massive waves.

Spear fishing, surfing, hiking, meeting other folks. Just some ideas..
Just realized your updates/narration reminds me of a pilot.
Watch that leak, good chance your chain plate is compromised. I dont want you to lose your mast under big winds!
Listen to this guy he sounds like he knows what he saying

No. I'll be putting it on in New Zealand
I'm sure you have considered a dodger...
May be a trade off . But that is a strong boat . Good luck !

Nice boat . Build youreself a hard dodger from plywood and epoxy.
I found you here today. It’s so unusual to sail one handed like that. Have you encountered any unfriendly out there?

What boat are you sailing
Thx
Is this a fiberglass or a wooden boat?
Fiberglass!
@@garrettsadventure thank you!
how much does boat like that cost?

Popeye
Cool videos but there's too much of your face and not enough scenic views and actual sailing footage.
