- In this exclusive clip writer/director Quentin Tarantino talks with AFI Conservatory Dean Richard Gladstein and AFI Fellows at the AFI Conservatory's Opening Day on August 21, 2017.
Watch part 2 here: • Quentin Tarantino Talk... - บันเทิง
I could listen to QT talk about movies all day 👍
I had the exact same thought. I didn’t want this clip to end!
He's an interesting combination of daring honesty and vivid imagination. He understands story, and it comes out in his whole mannerism. He's excited because stories are exciting, I think, and he stays there.
Man, I love you so much!!!
Quentin looking like a stud with this hairstyle
He has always looked handsome - and his wife is stunning omgosh
This motivated me to go out and make a movie, even though I know god damn well I'm never going to go out and make a movie.
I wish someone had told me as a teenager this same thing about songwriting, that I should write the song I want to hear that no one has written.
Great advice, thank you.
Hey, Quentin is starting to look handsome again.
definitely his hair style helped him
three dollar bill, yall wait this is his natural hair color?
tarantino forever...
4:05 - Tarantino speedrapping faster than Twista
sneglefar. Top ten people Eminem afraid to *diss!*
Ben shapiro normally talks in that speed
I was hoping he’d mention Straight To Hell when he was talking about the influences for Reservoir Dogs, I’ve always wondered how much if at all that played into it
Part 2 please
clef toma todo mi dinero
I wish i was as passionate in what i do as Quentin is about what he does.
Why aren't you? To my mind if someone is not passionate then they are not being honest with themselves. We live in a culture that likes to tell us how we should feel. QT doesn't let other people tell him how he should feel, he knows for instance that violence is very interesting and compelling in life and in story so he films it without regard to the "safety neuroticism" that came in on the feminist tidal wave.
What do you do?
Where is the full video???
he's starting to look like Oliver Stone
He looks good with his natural colour, he looks really well too. I’m really looking forward to his 9th next year, I hope he does some 16mm stuff in the style of the old Manson interviews that would be ace.
100 % it will bikers in the movie!
Right here
Wow is this the only time he's talked about City on Fire? That was really cool of him to admit that he was inspired by it.
I swear I’ve heard him mention that before.
Hair. Can't stop looking at his hair.
hollaname ikr I can't believe he's turning grey. Even though it's normal when you get older it's just odd after following him in his career throughout time.
He also getting that "old people weight gain"
I think he was coloring his hair for ten years already
More talent in his follicles than your entire family tree. Goofball
PUT UP THE FULL VIDEO!!!
DO IT!!!!
Now!
PUT IT UP!
More MORE
The difference in the levels of what the two speakers offer the students
Can I just say that Tarantino is either my #1 fav director or at least in my top 3?
PS
I can listen to this guy talk about movies all day long.
PS2
Can I also say of this guy only makes 2 or 3 more movies and then quits, in gonna punch myself in the face and then get a tad somber. Jk but seriously this guy is amazing.
Yeah he's said that he'll write novels or plays and stuff too
malkooth how so?
malkooth malkooth I'm serous when I say this but I honestly don't know what or who your ref. I'm not maybe as well informed, we'll wait, obviously not, as well informed. However, what I'm gathering is he was chummy with this Godard guy when he was praising Tarentino but when he did not praise his other work Tarentino discredited him and moved to another critic?
malkooth 👍🏽
my faw second is david lynch
Quentin is all sun kissed and looking good in his crisp, white linen shirt. I think what he's saying makes perfect sense. If you pull from something, just make it your own. It will still be original unless you want people to know what you're pulling from. Inspiration has to come from somewhere. For instance, I've always loved Quentin's De Palma pull of split screen sequences. De Palma is far more sophisticated in his execution of course, but if QT is into it, why shouldn't he use it? It works.
I suddenly want a cheeseburger, no idea why...
wHERE IS THE REST OF THE VIDEO?
This makes me miss studying at AFI.
I’m building my experience. What’s the drawbacks of the course?:)
what was it like
Where's the rest of this, guys?
-"I know my shit."
What a lucky audience.. getting first hand knowledge about movie making from the master himself! QT🙌🏽
Whom exactly does this clip exclude?
Hang on, I just noticed the ring on his finger. I know he got engaged this last year, did he tie the knot already?
I had this weird fucking dream last night that I was Quentin Tarantino's secret lovechild. I found a childhood photo of me (in the dream), and it was this horrifying hybrid of me and Quentin. It had my blonde hair and grey eyes, and his big nose and deep creases coming down from the sides. Scary looking, but I'm such a fan of his movies that I was really proud to be related to him.
I dreamt David fincher was my school teacher and i was very afraid of him
He actually looks better with the greying hair, older man look More sophisticated.
My personal fav directors
Not in any order
Quinton tarintino
Edgar wright
Martin Scorsese
He never made a bad movie
ayoub real Grindhouse?
Kill Bill sucks too.
Fuck off
Henry G I think you mean Death Proof? It certainly wasn't as great as his other movies, but it wasn't bad as well. It was a good film, and actually had a freaking awesome car chase end-scene.
Even his bad movies are watchable.
Don't ever die quentin and keep making movies! Fuck the 10 movies then finish idea
1:55
The cut to the frozen-statue interviewer at 03:39 nearly killed the mood.
Did anybody else think that was Dennis Miller at first?
Going grey there Quentin
no this is his real haircolor.. he's been dying it black for decades
He is nearly 60
I thought the moderator was Dennis Miller - lolz
Rip quentin's haircolor
Yo why's he wearing a wedding ring?
Tarantino is the best human in movies history
Why the audience look so bored? If I got to see this guy talk live I would be going crazy in the seat!
Because we were listening to him. To listen you have to be quiet. Also every single one in that audience is a professional, we dont often get flustered by mentors, we talk with them like colleagues.
White hair ??
Let’s face the facts, that audience isn’t going to make a thing.
Seen it didn't feel the the fucking film. But damn first impressions are not underated.
all these kids going to school to be filmmakers.
meanwhile Tarantino dropped out in 8th grade lol
He's got some good things to say, but his films are gorno. Can we at least be honest about that.
If you want to make movies, great movies.. Stop watching Tarantino movies
Sure, and keep commenting crappy negativity on youtube ahaha
what do you consider great movies then?
You sound dumb he is one of the most creative intelligent most awesome directors alive!
Rohit Kumar
Sure if you want to make great movies go be an edge lord on TH-cam comment section instead.
overrated.
Sorry, but I don't think Tarantino should be giving advice. He has stolen the majority of his ideas, and that's a fact. It would be better if a more original filmmaker mentored these students.
well he won palme d'or so
I'm sorry you had to deal with a bunch of racist idiots. Regardless of opinions, race should've never been brought up. That being said, I agree that taking inspiration from other artists is common in all mediums. Led Zeppelin took much from other bands, and I hold them to be among the greats. Quentin is no different. I'm not familiar with what he's been claimed to steal from, but he surely is still responsible for many masterpieces.
True hes still the one putting it on screen tho
He didn´t mentor us, he was doing a Q&A at the beginning of the school year. at AFI they have many acclaimed directors come in for one session.
Tips from Tarantino? Steal as much as possible! He is the most overrated director in the history of the medium. He steals everything. Even "his" style is a copy from other, better directors.
You're basically describing every director ever. Or every artist in general.
That's just retarded.
Scorsese "STEALS" just as much but no body cares becuse it is from italian directors.
But whatever, i'm sure he stole his dialouge writing skills from god right?
At the end he gives a movie like you have never seen a movie before so how he steals?
If his movies are regular so I am with you but you cant say that his movies are such a regular movies, no his movies are different from any other movie you could watch in the whole history
NostalgiNorden No way does he do that, unless you count reboots as stealing.
To write as well as he does and to direct as well as he does... how many other directors have the skill to turn their vision into reality?
