One of the funnest things I like about playing SKATE is being "forced" to do a trick you never do, nor [barely] know any variation of it. So what ends up happening is you try with all your might to pull even the lamest version of that trick, and there is a very low threshold for what counts, so even just staying on the board is exciting in its own way for all involved. I'm a mediocre skater, and sometimes my way better opponent will get a letter, just because I manage to pull some goofy "useless" trick (like dropping in parallel stance on tail, while holding the nose with both hands, or on knees). When they go high, I go low. Replace "high" with "rad" and "low" with "stupid trick". Having said all that, I'm 60 now so this is all really way in the past for me! That trick where Bryce runs up the transition, flips the board, jumps on and disasters in would kinda be an example of that. One might never do that in a competition run or in the normal course of a session, but it's these goofy tricks that just add to making it all interesting.

Bryce Wettstein just recruited a new fan. Also, the competitors come across super authentic in this event vs. Xgames, SLS, and the Olympics. I prefer watching accessible terrain like flatground miniramp games of skate over a megaramp jumpathon. Any 12-year-old. with a ramp in their backyard could come in and sweep this event ala Jake Wooten. Who has access to a megaramp? That's not real. Bryce Wettstein is real.

No, that is a adult man wearing a womens shirt and makeup competing against a female child, which is why he looks so out of place and tall. He is out of place and should be off learning how to skate because he sucks but instead he is one of the " best female transition skaters in the country " and is part of this competition.

Yes and no. This one was really down to trick selection. Bryce is amazing at bonelesses and old-school stuff but her ramp fundamentals aren't as strong as Fay. Two different kinds of skaters. These match ups are what I really love about Mano a Mano - we get to see where their weaknesses as well as stengths are
