I have a feeling it’s more based on whatever fairy tale his character is based on. I wouldn’t even begin to be able to speculate what story or character he’s inspired by, but I’m sure someone else is.
Now that I’ve watched the whole video, I have more things to say. Obviously I love the theory, but I want to add more to the theory. The farm was called Brunswick farm. BrunsWICK. TorchWICK. Sound similar. Also, Roman was swallowed whole, so his hat was swallowed as well. If that truly is romans hat neo is wearing and not a replica from a store, then the only logical explanation is that Roman is still alive. Not only that but his last words were, “lie, cheat, steal, and survive.” If he was alive, his death would be a lie. If he was alive, he would have cheated death. I don’t know how the steal would work out but if he is still alive then he would have survived being eaten. Anyone got anything to add?
I think Roman and Neo want something from Cinder, so they're faking it to get it, OR just to kill her, works either way EDIT: this could not be true seeing its just a comment from youtube so not 100% sure but rooster teeth confirmed neo would be killing someone. Its got to be Cinder which would help with my theory also im okay with that i dont like cinder shes just so high eg- oh wait so is Roman
I think with the books: volume 1 - first appearance Volume 3 - ‘death’ Volume 6 - return of part of roman with neo and his hat Volume 8 - return of roman in person What do you think?
What if he's in a coma or really badly injured and that's why only his hat returned, he can't physically fight yet but he needs his cane to move, that's why we don't see his cane. What if neo was crying when she attacked cinder because cinder is indirectly responsible for Roman's condition?
@@zerocreed8031 or maybe he got away with his cane but couldn't bother with the hat that neo then finds and blames cinder for being the one telling roman what to do
@@E-v0 Don’t ran out of hope. We never know it could happen next volumes, especially Neo was just recently betrayed by Cinder and now she’s with team RWBY and Jaune at the alternative realm, we could see a backstory of her and Roman, sure perhaps Roman wouldn’t return in volume 9 YET, but a backstory wouldn’t be so bad.
Well the most speaking element in favor of this theory is the hat. Roman was wearing it when he was swallowed, yet Neo's got it. One way or an other the hat had to go out... Happy new year to you and to all RWBY fans.
@_Neopolitan _ maybe Roman was really badly injured and she was crying because cinder indirectly did that to him. Maybe Roman is in a coma or something
TheLegendJx that’s the most plausible answer I mean I love Roman and all but the story is now more serious and the villains are more big and evil and theres no place for a crime boss now unless they go to vacuo
I theorize that the volume numbers have some significance to Roman in some way. Volume 1: We were introduced to him. Volume 3: We all thought that he died. Volume 6: Neapolitan returns, wanting revenge for what happened to Roman. That just leaves Volume 8, with the shocking reveal: Roman never actually died.
I'm deciding to throw my hat into the ring to prove this theory via many different pieces of evidence. If you pay attention to the scene where Neo and Cinder negotiate it exactly parallels the scene where she makes the deal with Raven! so if this deal runs the same way as Cinder's previous attempt Neo will betray her, but instead of someone dying on the betrayer's side (Like Vernal RIP) it might pull the old switch-a-roo and show someone who is alive (I.E. Roman Torchwick!) and Roman will definately pull a Raven and leave Cinder for dead yet again. Additionally you went to prove that Cinder died and people denied it and the same thing with this video so most likely both of your videos will become correct in the future with Roman Surviving and Cinder dying, Roman does have the capability after all to become the new old big bad, after all he's still got his cane to defend himself, he can use his supposed "death" to go undercover and play the roll of chess master once again like he did in Volumes 1-3, with Neo by his side they make a formidable duo and use her illusions to set in motion his future plans, and if he has unlocked his semblance then he becomes a much harder boss to fight, but what's most interesting and is again another few pieces of evidence as to what his semblance may be come from his surname and emblem/symbol which is Torchwick and a Jack-O Lantern. He nearly mirrors Cinder in every aspect from a name relating to fire and having a symbol that relates to fire and I think the former can help connect everything in this video! Jack-O Lanterns are merely gutted and Cut out Pumpkins and you can find them on a farm! not to mention the BrunsWICK TorchWICK connection! I also believe this symbol is his semblance's ability to manipulate fire which would also knock down Cinder's use in the show even further by introducing a pyrokinetic criminal mastermind into the fray. The Latern may also have the meaning of him being affably evil because he's got a smile on his face and is nice to some of his collegues Neo especially this could also be representative of his ability to laugh and not care about the law or authorities. Also he always carries a lighter and Cigar on him and he has orange hair, this most certainly adds fuel to the fire if you catch my drift. Anyway that's all I have for now and I really hope he comes back! just the way he said "NEO!" like she was the most important thing to him in the world AGH! just gets me in the feels man, could you imagine how much Neo would've cried after seeing his hat but not him?
By your logic about the roman numerals, then Roman wouldn't come back until Volume 8. Also when you mentioned Roman was a pretty sturdy guy because he survived the train crash while unconscious, you fail to realize that sometimes a limp form can withstand being battered better than if you are tensed up.
With the roman numerals, if they were hinting towards Roman Torchwick, then we haven't had anything significant happen with him in Volume 6 yet, other than his hat returning with Neo. True a limp body can withstand more than a tensed one, even still the train hit pretty hard and he seemed relatively unscathed by it.
Random idea on how he survived without relying on a semblance or an aura. He got swallowed whole, and when the gryphon gets smacked into the control room its trapped in there until the ship crashes, which is what actually kills it. But, as he was swallowed whole, Roman could still have been alive in the things throat, gullet, stomach...whatever. The gryph dies in the crash and disintegrates, as grimm are want to do upon death, then he plops out of its insides alive. Perhaps injured or even perfectly fine, but the gryphon itself acted as a cushion/barrier to the fall, crash and explosion. So in this it wasn't an aura, semblance or anything mystical...it was just blind and random luck. He gets away, with or without Neo's help and is lying low. He knew enough of Salem's plans/organization to be worried and perhaps he wasn't a willing participant after all. He said he joined them to be on the winning side, but I feel like he might not have been given much choice. Now he's out, presumed dead by everyone and is starting to make his own moves, with Neo his proxy. Just a thought =P
@_Neopolitan _ Don't get me wrong, that's the likely scenario...but then again its something we've never been told in official lore either. Officially we don't know what the internal make up of a grimm is or isn't and what would happen if someone was swallowed whole. (shrug) Rather than an instant kill, for all we know it could be a disintegration....as the darkness eats away at whats been ingested in a slow and painful manner like the sarlacc. But until they decide to elaborate on this officially, its all just conjecture for or against and leaves them open to do something down the road.
"Roman Torchwick" might be dead, but that doesn't mean "Roman Brunswick" isn't alive. But yea, I agree he's probably still alive, given his anticlimactic "death". A while back, I also wrote that he might've survived by unlocking his semblance. It'd be cool if he returned merged w/ the Griffon (looking somewhat like a winged centaur).
It's me, anger and resentment. Nah, just kidding. I love your theory and I do think it is kind of plausible. Plus, I feel that Roman's character isn't flushed out enough. I'm pretty sure he'll be back one way or another.
Oz master of masks Despite Clover, a character in Vol 3, have that semblance. It’s possible that there is another semblance with a similar semblance...
Oh okay! And if she found his hat, why didn’t she find his cane? She would have wanted to take it and give it to him like in volume 3, if the explosion would have killed him and incinerated his body, why not the cane too, not to mention the hat? maybe if he did survive, he just grabbed his cane for self defense and booked it.
@@tails8764 ok I see what you're saying but are we sure that's Roman's cane being used as the pole? It could just be the same as she used in volumes 1-3
The outsider ikr, I mean roosterteeth HAD to make him say what he said before he died for a reason.... I will continue to lie, cheat, steal, and survive.... hmm
Roman is going to be the TRUE last boss of the show. He's going to show up riding on the Griffin that ate him being all like "Why hello there little red"
Though a lot of people say that it's been confirmed by rooster teeth that he's dead, the question about his death was also in the same question to if pyrahh (bad spelling I think XD) and cinder are dead and they didn't say they just said that they wouldn't reveal anything so it isn't fully confirmed that he's dead. On top of that Roman was originally supposed to be killed off in v1 but due to how much people like him they kept him alive until his death in v3 maybe due to popular demand again he will be back in v6 but officially die in v8?
I like this theory and it seems plausible. I never gave it much thought but if his symbolence did awaken inside the Grimm then...if it were teleporting...that would allow him to get out of the Grimm after the crash or even before it. He likely would be disoriented, because being swallowed whole isn't exactly a normal thing to happen I'd think, so when he sees he's outside, he panics and loses his hat. He ends up teleporting again, leaving behind his hat as his new main goal is to bookit out of Beacon. Tok had a power to make her temporarily invincible but I don't recall anyone having a teleporting power yet. Unless the person is family, I can't recall anyone that isn't family having the same type of power. Plus that would compliment Neo's power wonderfully. Oh! A thought just hit me! What if he unconsciously used it in Vol 2 "Paint the Town Red" think the episode title was called, when Neo showed up and Yang shattered the illusion and they show up on a chopper that was a decent distance from the illusion. Consciously he never woke it up but unconsciously maybe? But that might be not plausible but is a thought that hit me. Also maybe he'll return at the end of 6 or hinted at in 7 and be an obstacle in 8? As for the tossing aside, maybe if Neo learns he's alive, she'll be happy for that but might feel hurt if there's little to no evidence he actively tried to find her after the fall of Beacon, thus tossing him aside in some way because of that hurt. That is if their split wasn't already planned out to get even with Cinder.
Like Penny and Adam, I feel that Roman's character was not done justice as he was not yet fully fleshed out. He was a cardboard cutout that got put through the shredder for no greater reason than that RT employ bad writers. I don't Roman should be resurrected, but at least they could use Neo's memories to explore who Roman was, why she became so attached to him. The idiocy of RT stems from the fact they assume these details are superfluous that the fanbase doesn't care as long as everyone onscreen eventually gets a longwinded choreographed fight scene.
You do realize that Roman was supposed to be this small character right? Like short appearance. But the fandom liked him so much that the writers put him in more.
Roman's Semblance is simple... HE'S TOO STUBBORN/HANDSOME TO DIE! Also, is his death, Neo's greatest illusion? Roman's master plan to get back at little red AND Cinder?
I really want him to be alive. Neo's my favourite character and she just seems so sad now that he's gone. It'd surely make her day to find out that he's still out there. That being said, I hope Neo kills Cinder and takes her Maiden Powers, kicks the heck out of Ruby and becomes the Queen of Crime she was made to be.
Not only the train....remember when he lost the match in "painting the town"? After Yang smashed his paladin with him inside....his first worries was about the clothes? The clothes!? Damn it he had not even a scratch or was a bit confused.....I understand he was in a big robot but...dude...seriously!?
I actually want Roman to be alive. I wanna see him find Ruby and say, "I'm back, Red" or somethin'. I NEED MORE BACKSTORY. Like, how he and Neo met, where they are from, and why he became a criminal with Neo. I honestly really liked how his voice sounded too. I wanna know how Team RWBY, Team JNPR, Cinder, and Neo will react if he is still alive. Hope there's gonna be an epic return of Roman Torchwick. Edit: WAIT, WHAAAT?! I JUST REALIZED THAT HE REALLY DIDN'T HAVE A SEMBLANCE YET WHEN YOU SAID IT ;-;
I think the irony is too much. There's no way his last words are about him surviving and then he instantly die. Even if Neo believes him to be dead, it's entirely possible that he survived and has just been recovering and then travelling to somewhere, perhaps trying to find Neo, or just avoiding Salem. His semblence is basically a free pass for Rooster Teeth to bring him back. He was also swallowed with his cane, which is more than capable of killing a simple grimm from the inside, and then all he'd have to do is find some way off the ship, and if I remember rightly his cane was also a grappling hook, so he may not even need his semblance to survive. Simply shooting his way out of the grimm and then grappling to a nearby building would be an easy way out.
I really like this theory. Also I was wondering what your take on Yang knowing about Raven being the Spring Maiden and not telling anyone. I've seen a lot of people upset over the fact that Yang mad and Ozpin for lying to them when she not telling the truth either. I don't believe such info isn't useful and that its not Yang job to tell Raven secret.
True she is being a bit hypocritical but Raven does not want help and everyone knowing about her being a maiden wouldn't really make a difference, whereas Ozpin's lies are much worse. People are putting their lives on the line based on what Ozpin has told them, and he's not telling them everything. I don't blame Yang, especially since she has her own trust issues to work out still, with Blake and even from childhood, having her mother leave her.
i dont think she should. dont get me wrong, she was my fav character too. and after season 3 i wanted to see her come back. however jaune's character growth is now dependent on accepting her death and moving on.. if she comes back, his development is thrown out the window.
@@MalonzeProductionsGaming Once Jaune's whole getting over Pyrrha's death thing is over, then Pyrrha could come back and it would be like a sweet romance story.
@@MalonzeProductionsGaming yeah but if they bring back Pyrrha Jaune can do teamwork and he will be happy when Jaune fights he is mad which is bad because he's not thinking right but if Pyrrha is there they can be more better in fights because they are no longer sad/mad so yeah I get where your going but at the same time it can be good
Well let's take a look at what kind of person Roman is. He is that one asshole that nobody can be mad at when he's around. He's also that guy who plays his cards right so he lands on top. So it doesn't seem out of character with him, that IF he survived Beacon he was recaptured by the Atlas military and he's in prison there, but because Roman's THAT GUY, he has connections in prison, so he's able to contact Neo and hatch a plan to lighten his sentence by delivering the mastermind for the whole Beacon situation. He does seem to be that kind of person honestly.
At this point. Who really knows what will happen. If they bring back Torchwick. then that could open up the window for other characters to come back. maybe not to form but returned nonetheless
Why the hell would we call you an idiot for thinking this? I couldn't even come up with this myself. I am now convinced that Roman will probably come back.
So I’m usually irritated because people are in denial about Pyrrha’s death but I’d be fine with Roman coming back because we didn’t officially see him die. I can’t believe I just said that.. we technically did NOT see his body itself being harmed. That’s all I really have to say. I’d actually be happy if he were alive, he was a really enjoyable character. Plus seeing Cinder and Neo going :O when they see him return (what is, if he returns at all.) will/would be pretty cool.
He basically did die. We dont know what happens when a person is swallowed alive by a Grimm, but what we do know is that people cant survive explosions. A ship exploding in general.
Yeah. We know that Pyrrha's dead because we saw her get killed and her body became golden dust. That means she's actually dead. We didn't see any golden dust come out of the grimm so it's really possible that Roman is still alive. I hope he is -ω-
Id like to point out how both Roman and Neo are still in RWBY Chibi. Pyrrha too. Adam was killed, so he's not in Chibi. Roman may have been killed, but he's still in Chibi. At one Chibi scene, Neo had Roman's hat on and was running from him. Vernal died and was never added to Chibi, Pyrrha could be alive, who knows? Cinder's semblance was to manipulate matter. That's how she got her arrow to dematerialize, move around Pyrrha's shield, and rematerialize only to enter her ankle. When people die in RWBY, they die. Pyrrha became orange and glowed, then dematerialized and was tossed into the wind. Cinder couldn't keep concentration on each of those bits of Pyrrha, it would be impossible. So she had to have sent Pyrrha's remains somewhere. Plus, Pyrrha wasn't a maiden. The maiden power was stolen from Amber before it reached Pyrrha. My point with that is, even though Pyrrha and Roman may be dead, they're still in RWBY Chibi. My guess is that they're going to be brought back. But hey, it's just a theory. A game theory. 👌
I know i am late but i feel i should Add At The Time Of Her Death Cinder Was A Maiden Who Was All But Confirmed To Have Fire Powers...I Don't Think She Sent Her Remains Anywhere I Think She Turned Her Into Fucking Dust... But Who Knows Rooster Teeth Might Correct Me And Bring Her Back. I Don't See It Happening (And Quite Frankly Find Roman Surviving A Hell Of A Lot More Likely) But I'm Just A Simple Rwby Fan.
@@justice8718 For Absorption you expect the thing to kinda move atleast Towards the thing absorbing it, Meanwhile Pyrrah looked more like she was turned to ashes and the wind just dispersed them.
I think you have a point. Right now I’m only 6 minutes into the video, so I’m at the point of romans semblance. I think his semblance is bursting into fire kinda like yang when she activated hers. This would make sense because the grim crashed into the control room then it exploded. What was his last name again? TORCHwick. Kinda like the Pokémon TORCHich. A fire type. With what he based off of combined with the way he “died”, I believe his semblance saved him. Now off to watching the rest of the video. 🥰
Mid to end of season 7. Cinder is about to do something for a power grab, and is about to win, Neo smirks. “What was it I told little red last I saw her?” Gasping from everyone as they hear his voice. Torchwick steps out of the shadows, cane in hand fresh pressed jacket, cigar in hand. “I’d lie, cheat, steal, and survive.”
Phoenix Did you ever wonder how Carolina in chapter 8 of volume 6 say "Friends of questionable character" while looking at Blake but yet Neon from volume 3 was a Faunus from Atlas tho did that stick out to you at all
Walter Thomas Maybe the atlas part of solitas isn’t racist but the mantle area is. I mean atlas is run by the military and having a species with dark vision seems like a huge advantage.
I believe Roman is still alive. The grimm crashing in to the control room of the ship should not have caused an explosion. (You don't store explosives in the control room.) I believe Roman blasted the grim to escape it and that is what we saw explode. (Think Agent K from Men in Black.) And the explosions following Ruby as she was running to get her scythe were potshots from Roman. Roman may have been severely injured from the grimm and/or crash and spent Vol 4 recovering and Vol 5 plotting revenge. Which might explain Neo showing up in Vol 6. In Vol 8, now that Salem is waging war on Atlas, would be a good time for Roman to reappear. Whether to help or mess up Salem's/Cinder's/Ironwood's/Oscar's/RWBY's plan, I don't know. However, throwing in a wild card like Roman would be a spectacular twist ending. And explain Vol VIII of the Brunswick diary.
But the fact that he could in volume 8 has sense...since he tecnically was at the same level of sun...and he live in Vacuo....and Vacuo is a place where only the one who can "survive" are accepted.
I have also considered this theory and a lot of my thoughts were stated in this video such as his semblance activating shortly after being swallowed whole and also if his hat survived being seriously damaged then maybe his body has as well. What I would like to add is that even though he doesn't have a semblance, he definitely has aura, with the only outlier being knocked out by Blake without it breaking. So him having aura coupled with being inside a Grimm, it acts like a double blanket against the explosion. If Torchwik did unlock his semblance, it would have to be something that would save him from the explosion. Either something similar to Tock's semblance or maybe teleportation.
Maybe Roman unlocked his semblance and it was a teleportation thing like Raven's, but he ended up in Vacuo or somewhere random and couldn't make it take him back. He wouldn't be able to contact Neo and it would take forever for him to get back. Lol, by the time everyone gets there he's taken over the place. Or maybe it was an 'invulnerability for a certain length of time' thing like Tock's; it'd definitely make sense for a survival-focused person to have a semblance like that.
One thing to note: How did his hat survive being inside a grimm inside of an explosion and a crash? His hat was eaten along with him so if it just dissolved him then the hat would be gone too, if the grimm died in the explosion, then that explosion would have burned the hat along with Torchwick's body as soon as the grimm turned to dust. So if Torchwick is dead then how is his hat basically unscathed? Seems more likely he survived and just lost his hat in the process.
What I was thinking is that, what if Tortchwick's semblance is like, possession, or mind control? We haven't seen his semblance, so we have no idea what he is capable of. If he had possession, he could've fused in with the grimm, like a human sized fusion of a grimm, like Cinder, and he could've escaped. What do you guys think?
What could Roman’s semblance be. Semblances tend to connect to their personalities. Blake, as she said, runs from things. Yang is hot tempered. Ren is less emotional than most people. So what about Roman? Well, he said what his personality is. He lies, cheats, steals, and survives. Maybe he could have some form of luck manipulation. Cheat death. It would fit his character quite well.
I think it's a toss-up on Roman's surviving or not, and it has little to do with his Semblance, or Aura, or the Grimm. Simply put, it has to do with whether or not the CRWBY feel like the fans want him back badly enough, and if they feel like writing him back in. Remember, Roman was supposed to be a one-shot character only, but they brought him back only due to popular demand. Now, more than likely, they've outlined their stories for the show from the point of his death with him remaining dead, so the question becomes, "is it worth the trouble for them to re-write things in order to fit Roman back in?" Also, everyone should remember that Roman is NOT an important character to the main storyline of RWBY, like say, Salem or Oz are, so his survival is not that important. What I'm saying is, that people are looking too much into storyline reasons for how and/or why Roman could be alive, and not looking enough at the real world reasons for why the CRWBY would bother to keep him alive, or not.
Even if Roman Torchwick is dead, there is a possibility that Neo can "POSSIBLY" bring him back. as it said that there are 4 types of gifts. Knowledge, Choice, Destruction, and finally Creation. (If Cinder told Neo about everything). Then my theory is that Neo will work for Cinder for the time being then if she gets an opportunity to fight ruby then she fights, after she fights, she may be going to cinder or slip her way to get the relic of creation(if relic of creation is in atlas). Like the relic of creation is like to much OP, you might be able to create an army or bend reality if that is what the relic of Creation can do. Now there are two choices here. ONE. she may escape with the relic then revive Roman, cause with that kind of power, who knows what you can do. TWO. she could do a sneak attack to kill Cinder and get the relic out. Now the problem of this one is that if the relics are attract the grimm she might fight her way out of the grimm or She might not be able to ambush Cinder on her fight against who ever Cinder is fighting with.
About the brunswick farms....I am still asking what that book with the lion on the cover means......usually in Alchemy the lion wich devours the sun is a meaning of reborn
Idk if I really believe this one... but I really hope it's true. He was my favorite villain (well, tied with Neo, but Monty even said Neo was meant to be a female Roman). He was well written and I loved most of his dialogue.
It is a possibility that Neo is the Winter Maiden. It would explain her ice-cream shaped hair. Who knows, maybe she'll get the staff of creation and resurrect Roman.
If there is a way for Torchwick to be alive, hopefully the writers have a plan for him. Neos reason for revenge will be gone, but then the two of them will go after Ruby. Geez! All these villains want on this show is revenge, right? 😂
You are my new favourite TH-camr! I've thought Roman has been alive for ages! Cause there has been signs! Like When Neo showed up she was wearing his HAT! and as we can see he was eaten with his Hat so he could have came out the griffin and His hat blew away and Neo found it,Also BRUNSWICK Farms it could be his hometown so that's a sign of Roman and that was afterwords we saw Neo and you are right about him not being chewed up soand he has his cane he could have shot the Griffin's stomach and got out,Also why would they kill a character that was there from the START!?
Anime logic. Someone isn't dead until you see the body. Also: 1. in a cannon RWBY novel, it's shown that you can survive being swallowed whole by a Grimm (at least for a time) 2. Roman is swallowed with his weapon. 3. Roman's aura is still up at that point. 4. In a whopping 3 frames, we see the Griffon that swallowed him escape the crashing ship. 5. How would Neo get his hat and scarf if he got digested? 6. If he was *dead,* she would have also grabbed his cane. Since we know Ironwood goes back to the downed ship, my hypothesis is this: Ironwood found a Roman who blasted his way out of the Griffon. Weakened, the general kicks his ass, and in the process he looses his hat and scarf, whilst Ironwood takes his weapon. Ironwood has had him locked up in Atlas since. Neo finds the hat and scarf at the scene of the fight and assumes he's dead. Quite a few characters got locked up by the general at the end of Volume 7. In volume 8, they find Torchwick in the slammer, and with his help they break out. And then we get to see him reunite with Neo and my heart will melt with joy. And then hopefully Neo stabs Cinder. Multiple times.
Well the question of whether or not Torchwick will return or not is one that people have to clearify when asked. If we are talking about him coming back to life. I feel that they shouldn't honestly. He was a good character but he was mainly there to set up the next big bads to come for the series itself. Him coming back after being gone for so long and likely to only have a fraction of the time he originally had before due to it being shared now would only degrade his character as he is reduces to a flunky. However i can see him being brought back later on as parts of flashbacks for certain characters and situations to help expand not only his character but the situation and story as a whole.
An interesting idea would be: what if Roman torchwick’s semblance is Grimm assimilation. Essentially after being eaten by the Grimm he took control of it becoming the Grimm. It be an interesting way to not only bring him back but make him a more formidable foe than ever before someone who would believe that he’s even strong enough to not have to take orders from the likes of Cinder and Salem.
We know from Volume 7 (after this video was made) that Tyrian disappeared from Atlas when grimm attacked his prison transport, and it seems to be implied that that's when he starts working for Salem. We also know that Salem doesn't want Ruby dead. Yet just when Roman was about to kill Ruby, he's swallowed by a grimm... hmm... It seems possible that Salem can control grimm to that degree and had the grimm eat Roman to keep him from killing Ruby, and if so, it's further possible that per Salem's remote control, the Grimm didn't really eat Roman, but either carried him back to Salem or just dropped him somewhere. We also saw Roman get eaten and swallowed by the grim, hat and all, and sliding down the grimm's throat head first when the grimm raises its head in the air to swallow. So, if that was that, how'd Neo get Roman's hat? If Roman is still alive though, I doubt it will be because of some new semblance, but more likely because Salem willed it. I don't think she would do it though unless she still had plans for him, and I don't currently see what kind of plans she could possibly still have for him.
You know those moments where a character gets swallowed by a creature and then the character cuts themselves out of the creature, imagine Roman doing that with the Grimm
I think your theory is well explained and possible. Now, for me (since I am not a fan him) I don't see how important this character is for the plot, maybe he could be, but in my opinion I would not bring him back, there are so many characters to develop. Yet again, great theory though. Love your videos and keep them coming!
Well if Torchwick was back he probably would be crippled or at least bedridden. Seeing as how Neo looks disheveled it seems she wouldn’t have had contact with Roman. I’d also imagine Torchwick’s main goal would be to find Neo somehow assuming he isn’t in a coma or something.
THANK YOUUUUUUU! The only thing I don't like about the Burnswick town theory is that people say it could mean Roman and Neo are related by blood. Which I don't like as I see Neo and Roman as either good friends or lovers, though just because they were born in the same place doesn't mean they HAVE to be related. Besides that, thank you so much for this video, I love Roman and hope to god he gets more screen time one day.
I honest to god don't understand why people believe a damn thing Crwby says about plot points. As content creators, of course they'd be willing to lie about things to subvert expectations. It's just smarter to say nothing or lie when someone asks questions like "Is Torchwick coming back?" That said, I'm interested to see the ripples and waves if it turns out that they were actually lying when they said "this Theory isn't true" or "that theory isn't true."
He appeared in 1 and 3 then it showed his PICTURE in season 6. I think that in the next volume he could come back. Expically with that Giant Grimm Whale with seemingly the pool of Creation. They could be fighting and get swallowed and see him in there. Or, and the more likely option we get a flashback of Neo and Roman becoming who they are today.
I wouldn't hate the idea of Roman coming back, just because of the way his death was handles. Yea, he's a relatively minor player in the grand scheme of things, but he was the first villain introduced, and was one of the most prominent antagonists for the whole series up to his death. He was too prominent for his death to essentially be played for a laugh.
In the book after the fall I believe it’s cocoa that was eaten by a grim and lives and in a couple frames the griffin in the aircraft can be seen flying off
I have a neat Theory what if neo did find Romans body but didn't find him dead but found him incredibly injured and is keeping him somewhere but wearing the hat to make it seem like he is dead the reason she attacked Cinder is because she blames Center for his injuries because if Roman was never involved with them he would have never gotten injured and the reason why she joins up with cinder is just to take down Ruby and to make Cinder have a fake sense of confidence and after everything is done she'll take down Cinder
I'm really hoping that this is the case, I would love to see Neo and roman working together again. Neo's betrayal of Cinder would be a really good moment in the show too, and probably a really good fight
Late but ehh, now as we know Neo is associated with Roman but if this Roman numeral thing and Roman connection is a thing I feel like this should be more about Roman (I’m not saying that the possibility of Neo and Romans connection wouldn’t count btw) so maybe that kid in the picture was him, and that was a way of showing or representing Roman. That could have been that one time that season he had a chance to tell us that he is alive or something like that. Now volume 8 isn’t here yet so we won’t know for sure yet. But if this is true here are some things that might happen. Since the book for the number 8 was thrown aside I did add that into perspective. So maybe in volume 8 and we know he is alive the book thrown aside could mean that he has somewhat took a break but is still alive in the show, maybe not having to much of the spotlight but still there. He could have been thinking of an even better plan to get rid of Ruby or he might just live in peace with Neo or something lol. Anyways if it turns out he is dead and this whole volume thing is real or a hint maybe we will see that Roman has some relevance to the plot before he actually died. Now we don’t know for sure what volume 8 is about. However we do know that volume 7 is about or at least taking in Atlas. But I’m not sure if volume 8 would be there to or somewhere else. But for now let’s say volume 8 is in atlas still or something like that. Maybe we can see how Roman had something to do with something else that is going on in Atlas. After all he did steal a lot of dust that came from tat kingdom. Idk really It is a bit late right now so this might not make COMPLETE sense maybe even at all but this is just all I came up with for now. I guess we will just have to see once volume 8 is out or something.
My personal take on what happened to Roman is while yes he got swallowed he probably at least tried getting out, via detonating his cane gun inside of the Grimm, killing it, and crawling out like that one guy did in pacific rim, if the blast from the cane killed him anyways, Neo found his body and took the hat.
That is likely what happened. Hopefully Roman survived but he didn't have his aura or semblance unlocked so he would be wounded pretty badly from the blast. I hope Neo found him alive though
Roman does have a semblance though. It's dramatic irony
So true
maybe roman torchwicks semblence is teliportation

If he was alive he stole the griffin's life?
Yeah, if Roman got digested or blown up the hat would've been destroyed too.
Just seeing this now, but how about 'Steal life out from the jaws of death.' Some symbolic shit.
Sadly they have confirmed his death so...I don't think CRWBY is planning on any plot twist ):
I think with the books:
volume 1 - first appearance
Volume 3 - ‘death’
Volume 6 - return of part of roman with neo and his hat
Volume 8 - return of roman in person
What do you think?

Very true, maybe Neo found and saved him, then they worked out a plan and Roman is waiting for his chance. Happy New Year!
@_Neopolitan _ maybe Roman was really badly injured and she was crying because cinder indirectly did that to him. Maybe Roman is in a coma or something
@Covered_in_Rust Neo's semblance is the creation of illusions. Maybe she faked it?
TheLegendJx that’s the most plausible answer I mean I love Roman and all but the story is now more serious and the villains are more big and evil and theres no place for a crime boss now unless they go to vacuo
I theorize that the volume numbers have some significance to Roman in some way.
Volume 1: We were introduced to him.
Volume 3: We all thought that he died.
Volume 6: Neapolitan returns, wanting revenge for what happened to Roman.
That just leaves Volume 8, with the shocking reveal: Roman never actually died.
I always believed Roman was still alive! I was starting to doubt it after neo's reveal but this video is making me get some of it back :P
He could have a naturally high tolerance for pain. His sense of style won't allow him to look crippled with pain. 😝
Blackton Obvious omg that would be cool

It's me, anger and resentment.
Nah, just kidding. I love your theory and I do think it is kind of plausible. Plus, I feel that Roman's character isn't flushed out enough. I'm pretty sure he'll be back one way or another.

Thanks! I'm glad there are more people who think that he's return is possible
What if Roman's semblance is the opposite of Qrow's. I mean some kind of a fortune wich activates only in critical moments

Roman is going to be the TRUE last boss of the show. He's going to show up riding on the Griffin that ate him being all like "Why hello there little red"
While that sounds extremely unlikely, that would be absolutely fantastic to watch.
this video just gave me all kinds of hope for him?? I loved Roman’s character so much tbh and I genuinely hope they bring him back.
That’s just a theory, A RWBY THEORY!!
Great theory, man keep up the good work
I wholeheartedly believe this theory and actually hope that Roman could and will make a comeback
"Screw this hat, I want to SURVIVE dammit!" -Roman, probably
1 3 6 8
1: He was introduced
3: He "Died"
6: Another aspect is shown, his hat
8: He returns
Nah it either means that neo gets tossed aside like the book or maybe his cane returns
I want a proof of his death damn it!!! A corpse or something at least
no body no proof
I actually want Roman to be alive. I wanna see him find Ruby and say, "I'm back, Red" or somethin'. I NEED MORE BACKSTORY. Like, how he and Neo met, where they are from, and why he became a criminal with Neo. I honestly really liked how his voice sounded too. I wanna know how Team RWBY, Team JNPR, Cinder, and Neo will react if he is still alive. Hope there's gonna be an epic return of Roman Torchwick.
Edit: WAIT, WHAAAT?! I JUST REALIZED THAT HE REALLY DIDN'T HAVE A SEMBLANCE YET WHEN YOU SAID IT ;-;
I think the irony is too much. Simply shooting his way out of the grimm and then grappling to a nearby building would be an easy way out.
it would be really amazing when in the end of season 8 , u see neo in the shadows and only hear a voice calling " well done, now i want my hat back"
I really like this theory.

As odd as it may seem I actually hope this theory is true Roman was one of my favorite characters
Like JR or the twins?
Why the hell would we call you an idiot for thinking this? I couldn't even come up with this myself. I am now convinced that Roman will probably come back.
If anyone knows if Roman survived, it's Ironwood. He was the first person to visit Roman's last known location.
I hope he is -ω-
Volume I: Roman is intruduced.
Volume III: Neo and Roman disappear.
Volune VI: Neo returns.
Volume VIII: Roman returns?
Maybe the last book number being 8 at the end of the episode is hinting at Roman coming back in volume 8??

“What was it I told little red last I saw her?”
Gasping from everyone as they hear his voice.
Torchwick steps out of the shadows, cane in hand fresh pressed jacket, cigar in hand.
“I’d lie, cheat, steal, and survive.”
Please let this happen!
Phoenix Did you ever wonder how Carolina in chapter 8 of volume 6 say
"Friends of questionable character" while looking at Blake but yet Neon from volume 3 was a Faunus from Atlas tho did that stick out to you at all
Walter Thomas
Maybe the atlas part of solitas isn’t racist but the mantle area is. I mean atlas is run by the military and having a species with dark vision seems like a huge advantage.
um spoilers people, rude
Roman’s Semblance: Cheating death
Anything to bring Roman back...
As long as Rooster Teeth doesn't ruin his character
I think it's a immunity to fire
Torchwick's semblance is that he's trapped inside his indestructible hat! Of course!
Okay it is al cool....but I believe that the hints were for Neo's past not for Roman's return
Roman Torchwick is the best character in RWBY, so I would hope he comes back
What I was thinking is that, what if Tortchwick's semblance is like, possession, or mind control?
Now, more than likely, they've outlined their stories for the show from the point of his death with him remaining dead, so the question becomes, "is it worth the trouble for them to re-write things in order to fit Roman back in?"
Also, everyone should remember that Roman is NOT an important character to the main storyline of RWBY, like say, Salem or Oz are, so his survival is not that important.
What I'm saying is, that people are looking too much into storyline reasons for how and/or why Roman could be alive, and not looking enough at the real world reasons for why the CRWBY would bother to keep him alive, or not.
Durge from star wars swallowed obi wan and then got out
Even if Roman Torchwick is dead, there is a possibility that Neo can "POSSIBLY" bring him back. as it said that there are 4 types of gifts.
About the brunswick farms....I am still asking what that book with the lion on the cover means......usually in Alchemy the lion wich devours the sun is a meaning of reborn
volume I he was introduced, volume III he "died", volume VI, neo came back, so in VIII, i think either neo dies, or roman comes back.
this makes more ene then pyrrha being alive.
Idk if I really believe this one... but I really hope it's true. He was my favorite villain (well, tied with Neo, but Monty even said Neo was meant to be a female Roman). He was well written and I loved most of his dialogue.
So what about neo if he is alive should neo know its been like a year in rwby universe .
Torchwick should come back he is the reason ruby was in beacon isn't he?
I believe you with no doubt
It is a possibility that Neo is the Winter Maiden. It would explain her ice-cream shaped hair. Who knows, maybe she'll get the staff of creation and resurrect Roman.
If Roman returns next volume that’d be WILD
I'm Late But, Adam. He Was Around Since The Black Trailer. Roman First Appeared In The Yellow Trailer.
Anime logic. Someone isn't dead until you see the body.
Also:
1. in a cannon RWBY novel, it's shown that you can survive being swallowed whole by a Grimm (at least for a time)
Since we know Ironwood goes back to the downed ship, my hypothesis is this:
Ironwood found a Roman who blasted his way out of the Griffon.
Here's hoping we see him next volume!
I hope so, Neo would be happy, we would be happy, it would be a great time. 😁
Phoenix/Night exactly! There is no reason not to!
I don’t know what role he’d play if he did come back tho.
@@keelan270 if Mr. Totchwick was to survive, I could see him as an anti-hero. He won't be on the evil side, but won't be on the good side either.
You’ve gotten a new subscriber
I don't need him, I don't need him, I don't need him, I DEFINITELY don't need him. .....
I NEEEEEEEEED HIM!!!!!!!
I had the same idea to this day.
I half expected him to return like a demi grim that was pooped out by the grim.
Roman's "power" could be explosion.
Might be good to revisit this when the comics get to this supposed death event for possible argument support or debunk.
In the book after the fall I believe it’s cocoa that was eaten by a grim and lives and in a couple frames the griffin in the aircraft can be seen flying off
I WANT HIM BACK!
Well if you also think about the Roman numerals the last number we saw was VIII (8) maybe he will make an appearance in volume 8
"One of your former ally is coming to get you."
Cinder: "Who? That fuckin' 'nobody'?
"That.. FUCkin' "Nobody" is TorchWick."
I'm kinda thinking the Grim served more as insulation for Roman as the ship crashed
Roman was my favourite character!!! He have to be alive (well not HAVE to be but you know). I really hope he is alive and will come back.
When Roman died I didn’t really believe it and kinda assumed he lived and was so confused later when it was like oh he’s dead
I imagine grim are like titans where what they eat comes up the same way
I always thought he would cut out of the Grimm saying where's my hat. Like the guy in Pacific rim
