I will add one piece of financial advice: Have a stash of money in a local bank that NO ONE else knows about, make arrangements to be able to access it in an emergency if needed, and DON'T TOUCH IT FOR ANY REASON OTHER THAN TO BAIL YOURSELF OUT OF A BAD SITUATION! I don't know how difficult that will be in the Philippines, but I imagine it can be done even there.

I sell options for premium. I was able to built a 400k nestegg and live on option premium. 400k = $18,000/month (give or take). And I only spend about 5k/month. The rest goes to savings.
    Word of advice:
Do not "ever" tell anyone how much you make or how much you're worth. Play like you barely scrape by. Live small around the home front. Live big when traveling where no one knows you. I wouldn't even tell your girl. Just saying...
Summary: Act broke or you'll be a target / walking ATM machine.

Unless your fully rich and have over 500k in hand, you need to have a passive income (property rentals, pension, etc) or a desirable skill that will allow you to find decent pay work. Remember, you may get 50usd an hour to drive heavy equipment in New jersey, but a local will do the same for $1/hr. The will only hire you if you do something no local can do as well.

She was bleeding me for real estate, and jeeps. My property was going out the door and was given away or sold. She gave the jeeps to the drivers. Get a safe. I live with my girl for $1500 per month, sometimes I go over a few hundred bucks but I am living "simple" as they say. She has one kid almost adult then he's out the door. My pension starts next year but in the meantime I have savings invested, rental income from home. I don't have a vehicle and we bus, trike or jeepney around. It all works and I know to not spoil her as thats the problem with some guys. Give them a sense of security but not wealth. They know what struggle is and want it to end. What helps to is saying you are not supporting the whole family right from the get go. My girl has no parents or siblings. She is adopted. Her adopted mom and uncles and aunts have money and drink all the time. They inherited some real estate and a rice farm so they are fine. If foreigner spends endlessly and finds, girl with them or not, that the cost of living is just as expensive as home, then there is no point in living in the Phils.
The problem is TH-cam. Many guys, single and lonely catch on to the cheap living, sell what they have then go "live like a king" and the moment they meet a girl with great sex it makes them think its the fountain of youth and they are 18 all over again. The stupidity also comes back from that age too. I find it so pathetic some guys don't catch on to their money being sapped away whether its on a girl and her family or just on the bar scene and vices then they have no money to get home.

Ricky question I meet a young lady 24 last year spent the 30 days with her very sweet. Nice family but big family. She just graduated 4 years college but what bothers me is no one works all live at home with there Gf and there kids not married she is the baby of the family. She needs to take a refresher course it was $300 I paid it. Then I gave her 100 on top for food and transportation. One week later she tells me she needs money for food. I ask her what happened to the 100 I gave you. She tells me she got large sack of rice for her family. My point is it was for her to help her get through her exams so she can help her parents family when she’s a police officer.I did tell her I’ll help this last time and if she asks again we are done. Feel bad but trying to get my point through. I’m coming next month for 5 months but starting to feel it’s over before I get there in my hart. I’m not cheep have big hart but feel this is wrong

    • @Lifebeyondthesea
      @Lifebeyondthesea  ปีที่แล้ว

this is, sadly, a very common situation. i've even faced it in my own marriage. but i got it resolved by setting limits. the hard part is that your filipina g/f is caught in the middle between your position (which is valid) and her family's needs. she's in a bad spot.
so, first thing to establish with her is that you understand the position she's in. and that you don't want her to be stressed out.
next, and this is where the two of you have to be in-sync, you establish with her (not her family) what your limit is per month that you will help her out with. nothing beyond that. she really needs to understand that if you give her money for a specific purpose, it must go to that purpose.
now, you two are still in the first month of actually knowing each other. i've spoken before about, "girlfriends get girlfriend money.. a wife gets wife money." the limit for a new g/f this first 3-months should not be going over $100. i usually recommend just $30/month.
the reason being, not only to set down boundaries but to establish for yourself that she is with you for.. You, not for your money. believe me, if you fall into the unspoken trap of, "if you loved me you would give me the money".. the floodgates open. sky is the limit to the number of new 'emergencies' the family (not her) will push on her to get money from you.
so, this is the first big test of your relationship. can she follow your instructions when you give her money? or is she going disregard your counsel and funnel the money to her family? in order for the two of you to last as a couple, you have to be able to be unified and work as a team.
because my wife follows my counsel and boundaries with her parents, we have a good understanding with her family. a set amount per month, nothing more. we don't neglect her parents in the least, but we also don't give them a blank check.
as a side note; i support her obligation to help out her parents each month. but it stops there. her brothers, sisters, cousins, etc... they're on their own. she has no obligation to them, only to her parents.

I will not get involved. Now i don't mind paying for some if we invite them on a getaway weekend but that also will be budgered. I wouldn't care if the girls family thinks I'm Koriput. hahaha I'm Filam, and I know how my family is back in the province. They ask, knowing they wont pay back a loan, thinking that he can afford it. Its true, that I can afford it, but even in Filipino culture its also rude to assume that as well. Not all Filipino people are like that. Just the ones that are selfish. A lot of Filipino people are hard working and will offer up to a guest what little they have. They're very accommodating people. If you feel the need, help out if you can, or offer to pay for dinner/meals hear and there. Hell, send them a Balikbayan Box, but don't invest in the Sari Sari store or the Trike business, building them a new roof. You'll never see the money back, nor will you receive any gratitude. If the girl is worth it, and she's Wifey Material, she'll also consider your feelings as well. Remember fellas, you're the Hot commodity there. Women should be trying to impress you. Take your time and have more more confidence.

Paid the electric bill a few times for them. Plus put a new roof on the house so no more leaking, etc. etc. etc. etc. I caught her lying to me about some money she claimed to need for something and after I sent it she bought a much less expensive item and tried to lie to me about. That was it. It's over for me. The money drain has stopped. Maybe the power will be shut off and all of those electric appliances will stop working.

Great video.. A Big issue is when Americans brag too much to impress girls/Ladies. They throw out all the financial details to women they don't even know. Women dont ask how much you make the ask where do you live or stay. And then they can gauge your worth or income based on what you spend to sleep each night. Lonely guys get so much Attention that ALL precautions fly's out the window.

If you want a woman for marriage you went to the wrong country.
Filipino women are the best wives.
Filipino women believe in love, pair bonding, marriage.
When they are with you they are in it for the thick and thin. They want you for life. They were made, bred and raised for marriage. That is who they are
They don't even have divorce in their country.
Divorces rates in Thailand are almost 40%
Most Thai women are not in love. They are in business. There are always exceptions to the rule.
Full disclaimer, my wife is Thai. However her case is different because she is the one who is rich and wealthy and grew up in a rich family as the only heiress, not me.
However, I got a unicorn. She is the only Thai woman I have ever met that I can trully say that she really deeply loves me for me.
If something were to happen to her I don't think I could ever find another Thai woman or just any woman that would love me like she loves me.
I know that would possibly find one in the Philippines.
If you want my advice and want a good woman that will lead to marriage go to the Philippines.

all things considered.. i believe having a health insurance policy is best for the future.
yes, small incidentals.. even small surgeries can be paid at under $3,000 with savings. however, if it is a big-ticket item such as cancer, heart issues, major surgery, stents... that's when one will wish they'd gotten health insurance.
you can get more specific answers on a policy here..
