The Open Beta version of Digital Combat Simulator World (DCS World) 2.5 is a free-to-play digital battlefield game. The “release” version will be available shortly after Open Beta testing is complete. The Open Beta is an optional version of DCS World that we use to first test new content and technologies before moving them to our release version.
Our dream is to offer the most authentic and realistic simulation of military aircraft, tanks and ships possible. This free download includes a vast mission area of the Caucasus region and Black Sea that encompasses much of Georgia. It also includes a flyable Russian Sukhoi Su-25T ground attack aircraft and the famous WWII North American TF-51D fighter. An additional 25 aircraft are available for purchase.
The download comes with one of the most powerful mission editors ever designed, full network play and more than 156 AI weapons systems, 105 ground vehicles and trains, 50 air defense systems, 19 ships and 84 AI aircraft permitting you to plan and play highly sophisticated missions. DCS World is massively extensible through additional DCS modules as well as user-made add-ons and mods which you can purchase and download from our site.
DCS is a true "sandbox" simulation that is also designed to cover multiple time periods of interest such as WWII, Korean War, Vietnam, Gulf War and others. Current regions to battle include the Caucasus, Nevada Test and Training Range, and Normandy 1944. New maps in development include the Persian Gulf, Syria, Afghanistan, and others.
DCS World is fundamentally a deep, authentic and realistic simulation game designed also to offer a more relaxed gameplay to suit the user and his particular level of experience and training. The ambition is to hand hold users from novice pilot all the way to the most advanced and sophisticated operator of such complex weapons systems as the A-10C Warthog or the F/A-18C Hornet. This video almost brought a tear to my eye. I've been flying with Eagle Dynamics since Lock On: Modern Air Combat. The first sim to really get me up into the virtual air. Since then DCS has truly become a world of many wonderfully integrated simulations. Thank you Eagle Dynamics! You have brought us the best combat flight sim. Ever.

The most realistic flight simulator of all time? DCS World! I am 41 years old and I have played with all the flight simulators existing from 1990 to today. DCS World is fantastic! For me it's a dream come true after so many years!

This is truly an example of how amazing this game has become, I got chills while watching combat footage. Keep up the amazing work.
This video really is something special, it moved me. The music choice, the production, the edition, the visuals, everything. Consider doing trailers for future DCS products with more videos like this in the future, grand music like this really does help make otherwise standard-looking simulator footage become inspiring and thrilling, and connect better with the viewer. It has worked wonders for Ace Combat (an entirely different genre, I know) for years and works amazingly for DCS.

I remember playing the Flanker 2.5 simulator. Years have passed and now DCS World 2.5 is the best simulator of the battlefield in the air and on the ground.
This is hands down the best flight sim video I have ever seen made with the most impressive simulator I have ever seen. I am at a loss for words.

Eagle Dynamics: Digital Combat Simulator grippen please. Lockheed and skunk will never give you avionics fully. You'll have to fudge. Saab don't care. Same with BAE. Typhoon and gripen could happen. Hoop jump for next 30 years to get the skunk jets .

Poor Ka-50 got so little screen time because of it's old model :(. Would pay my guts out for a Black Shark 3 upgrade with deferred shading support and INU drift.

Ka-50 will get a Deferred Shading upgrade inside and out "Soon TM" according to the mods on the forum. So at least we know its being worked on.

I first played a flight sim on the ZX spectrum in about 1987. Mountains didn't display, you just died under the minimum altitude. The only ground features were lakes and the runways. I played the 16-bit classics like F-19, then onto F-22 and Falcon 3, 4.0 and the realism mods. I haven't played a proper flight sim for years, but what I just watched blew me away. The progress that has been made in 30 years. Wow, just wow. I'm going and buying a flightstick.

Safety Steve if it's GA you desire, you're in luck. The first module is already in development, the Christen Eagle. I like fast and dangerous aircraft myself, but I'm more than happy to see more variety in DCS if it allows more people to get involved and enjoy this wonderful sim.

The L-39 is already purchasable, I appreciate it's a military trainer primarily, but it's also incredibly common in private hands and can be flown as such in DCS.
I'm hoping that we'll see some GA aircraft at some point, however I'd really love to see a good C-130 simulation in DCS or a mule-crew bomber.
A B1b would be awesomer-er. As for GA... General aviation. I:E civilian aircraft.
It's insane to think how far flight simulators have come. I remember playing all the way back to Flanker 2.5 back in the day, then LO:MAC, LO:FC (1,2 & 3).... Black Shark, the A-10C and many modules since then. Very well done ED, you guys are really knocking it out the park, and with the F-18 it's only going to get better. Looks absolutely STUNNING. Those new ground impact effects make the ground pounder in me more than a little giddy :).
My first flight sim was MiG Ally Ace on the Mac; amazing how far the genre has advanced
My very first flight sim, was an old DOS game called Sturmovik. You actually flew a Su-25, I was about 6 and didn't even know what to do but I enjoyed taking off and blowing up my own airbase lol.
Thx for this. Im proud to be an DCS pilot to , like my previous speaker. Its the best game of our time and VR is extraordinary. Ive spent some bucks in the meatime, but none of them will be wasted
i am one very happy customer, i could not ask more from a simulator dev than this, fantastic flying models and the cockpits look amazing this with a VR headset is just another world thank you Eagle Dynamics for giving us this simulator, you could not get any closer to real combat flyin' than this

Watching this trailer was one of the many decisive triggers in me downloading the DCS 2.5 beta for the very first time. I really like the effort that ED have gone through in making this authentic aircraft simulation. I know the ED team are very busy ironing out the bugs etc in preparation for its public release soon to which I am sure we are all eagerly await for.
One common theme that strikes me though reading the forums and watching ED videos is the graphics settings for the end users. I hope ED can give us the end user in due course the ability to simply click optimise our DCS 2.5 settings etc to give us the best performance that one can have based on our individual specs. The playing around with settings is tedious and not intuative. Even if we get a recommended settings checklist as a quick kill would be better than the "play with them and go figure" approach. I use a GTX 1070 which holds well on other graphically intense titles and would love to optimise this title for an even greater immersion.
With that said learning to fly some of the aircrafts ED have created is exceptionally gratifying. This is just a thought or idea however, credit to ED for all of their efforts to date as DCS stands out from the croud.

Well done! My mates, and I started with MS Combat Flight Simulator 1 in 1998. Our group currently is using IL-2 1946. Seeing this excellent video, has jump started my curious side, and made me realize how far it's come! Fantastic! We're going to continue watching this closely as it develops! Cheers!
