Great American Scream Machine Farewell Night "Last Ride"

- July 18th, 2010... Here is a video of myself riding the scream machine for the last time before they tear it down. Night video, but you still get the idea.... Great classic ride.
Yup, thats pretty much exactly what happened. After that night, by the next day, they had cranes and wrecking balls taring the ride down adter 21 years. It was weird not seeing it there anymore. I grew up riding that rollercoaster. Green lantern is a good ride but it will never replace the old crazy scream machine...
Green Lantern wasn’t exactly new when it opened on the site of GASM in 2011, it was originally located at former Six Flags park Kentucky Kingdom where it was called Chang. Chang originally opened the same year Don Bluth and 20th Century Fox’s Anastasia came out. Anastasia is now an official Disney Princess.
This was replaced by Green Lantern: Stand Up To Your Fear!, which was relocated from Kentucky Kingdom where it was called Chang. Chang originally opened the same year Don Bluth and 20th Century Fox’s Anastasia came out. Anastasia is now an official Disney Princess.

@lirr56890 this particular video isnt that last train. I did win an auction to be the last person to sit in the front seat of the last train that night, but as i was videotaping it going through the last corkscrew, I hit the camera bottom and the batteries flew out and i lost the video.... That really sucked. but this video is from an hour earlier
It was a hell of a ride for 20 years... Green Lantern is a pretty good addition to the former spot.. Rode it 3 times already... Def worth it.
I agree. such a classic coaster that could have been redone a little bit to make it more modern... Its definitely missed.

There’s a ride at Magic Mountain similar to GASM that’s still around today, it’s called the Viper!
i'd do anything to ride my classic favorite one more time. im going tomorrow and i cant ride it :-(

@BuLLNJ5 i've been wanting to ride it since i was like 5 but couldnt cuz i was short then later scared, but then i rode it at age 11 and 14 2 years ago. it's a really good coaster. they shoulve taken down rolling thunder instead.

I feel like they had no reason to destroy the ride when it was perfectly fine does anybody know what happened to the structure when it was taken down was it scraped or was the whole thing put in there bone yard because I think they could put it where bat man and Robin or rolling thunder was because theres actually nothing there now rolling thunder is just a empty field now and batman and Robin has nothing there and they can tear down some buildings and move stuff around they most likely wouldn't because it would cost too much money to rebuild the ride even though I think they could do that instead of another flat ride next year and if they put by where rolling thunder was they could move El Diablo that rides garbage anyways.
I miss the ride also. They don't make them like that anymore. All the memories I had riding that back in the day when I was younger all the way up till the day it closed. I don't particularly know where it is. It would nice if it got resurrected somewhere in the park.
They would have had to redo the ride in some manner to make it stick today (new something to it)
They replaced it with a relocated B&M stand up from a park that had recently left the chain, Kentucky Kingdom, where that ride was called Chang. It first opened the same year my favorite Disney Princess movie Anastasia came out. Yes, Anastasia is an official Disney Princess after Disney bought 20th Century Fox. Chang was rethemed to Green Lantern when it was brought over to Great Adventure.
