You should do area specific shiny hunting record attempts. So just do an hour at crimson mirelands for example. Then after you do these challenges at each area a few times, you can identify which areas yeild the highest percentage of shinies. The more you do it, the greater your data pool. Then you can try for an overall shiny hunting challenge. Or you can do a shiny hunting challenge where it isn't timed. But you go to each location. The only rule is you only get to stay as long as the mass outbreak is active. Then you have to move to the next area.
