I just bought this in a travel size to see how it wears. Didn’t want to spend 270 on something I wasn’t sure was going to wear well. You’re right, I loved it immediately. It’s warm and sexy and very enticing. Definitely not for everyday (as mentioned). It is a powerful fragrance and one that I’ll be using for evenings this fall and winter. Fantastic.
You could have also got the body spray which smells just as good and the same, but it wont last all day long like the actual fragrance. *Just a side note* but id recommend the $270 version or the $600 lol.
I fully agree with you, Tobacco Vanille was a love at first sniff and was my first niche scent. Nowadays, I only use it during november-december when it gets really cold. Keep up with these "before you buy videos"!
Haha, I used to live in Canada too and was my almost my year rounder. Now I live in Hong Kong and hardly ever find the occasion to wear it. We’re having a bit of a “cold” spell so might be time to dust it off for a few weeks.
I love Tobacco Vanille. I tried it on in a department store at the Tom Ford counter. After some time past, I went to the Parfum De Marley section. The PDM rep mentioned their tobacco vanilla fragrance and told me it was better quality and lasted longer than TV. I had her smell my hand and she asked what are wearing that smells very good. I told her it was Tobacco Vanille. I don’t know why, but it smells amazing after 3-4 hours on my skin.
A fragrance with character... but beware of its sugar content. Slightly more masculine than feminine, and that's what I like. The spray is dry, smoky and cocoa-like, a bit aggressive. Fortunately a sweet veil quickly mitigates this entry, revealing a more delicate scent after 1 hour on the skin. Because of its lack of complexity, I prefer "Vanille Fatale" from the same house. I recommend everyone to smell it out of curiosity, even if the pyramid doesn't look like you. It is quite unique, and as is often the case with Tom Ford, well crafted. ♥ 8/10
This is my #1 fragrance out of my entire collection. I get more compliments with this than any of my other fragrances. My #2 is Creed Aventus which gets me many compliments to but when it comes to Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille I have people stopping me and asking me what im wearing constantly.
Tobacco Vanille was a love at first sniff for both me and my husband. To both of us, it smells like a combination of delicious pipe tobacco aroma, and the best chai latte in the world. We ended up getting a travel size bottle to share to take it for an extended test drive, and if we make it through the whole thing and still love it, then I think we might actually spring for a 50 mL bottle. But because it’s really going to be best in the winter, isn’t an everyday scent for either of us, and literally one spray is all that’s needed all day long, a travel size bottle might be the way to go for a lot of people. I realize it’s the worst value in terms of dollars per mL, but if it’s a statement fragrance that’s going to be used sparingly, there’s no reason to spend all that money on a full size bottle. We are only considering doing so because we’d both be wearing it.
I know this comment is older now. But yes travel sprays of this last forever. One travel spray will last me all winter usually. Unless I’m just going out like crazy I guess
Smelt this at a dinner about 8 years ago and was obsessed. My initial thoughts were that person smells like money. Even though there were other elements to it my nose only detected a creamy chocolate smell. Top tier special occasion scent
@@nic2787 yes elegant will work best however personally, I think you can make just as much of a statement with a refined casual look with clean good fitting black/dark clothing, maybe even add some eyewear you will give off that sexy mysterious vibe. Don’t wear it casually you won’t get the same feel from it it’s a special scent

Tom Ford as a house is a strange one for me. It seems like they have three lines of fragrances at three price points. Most of my favorites come from the "mid tier" line such as Beau de Jour and Ombre Leather. I really enjoy these in depth single fragrance reviews, and would love to see more of these.
I ordered a discovery set from a company that makes scents inspired by popular designer and niche fragrances. I’ve tried five of the seven scents. There are scents inspired by Love Don’t Be Shy, Amyris Femme, Baccarat Rouge 540, and Tobacco Vanille. So far, I like the scent inspired by Tobacco Vanille the best. Now, I can get a sample of the real deal, and decide if I like it. I like a mix of vanilla and spices. The inspired by scent is definitely a cold weather fragrance. Can’t wait to try the real thing.
I bought this for the first time! As a woman I get compliments every time I wear it. Yes it’s a great winter scent but it smells great in the summertime too.
Niche market fragrance with an even smaller target audience than usual with this type of clip format. I think getting the guests on to judge is faster paced and hits a larger audience pool, which is really interesting
Agree. Love the smell but it doesn’t have a lot of depth and can only be used in certain situations. Tom Fords do well with layering but I don’t want to pay that much for something with limited application or that requires layering.
This for me is soon nostalgic it reminds me of a long gone tobacco shop where I use to buy sweets when I was a kid .the shop shut 30 years ago the second I smelt I was swooshed back to that shop unreal I really can't put in words how precious this smell is to me❤
I love it and I will wear it when I feel like it I don’t care about seasons. I get more vanilla as it dries down me then I’ll get a whiff of tobacco & spices. It last on me for 10 hours or more. I get tons of compliments. For what I paid I wear it when I feel like it. It works great with my body chemistry. I wear it to the office and I get full versatility. I’m a National Sales Director at a well known company that also has a fragrance division.
Excellent breakdown. I actually wore this a lot throughout the winter this year… I find it to be a very cozy, attractive scent. The dry down is absolutely gorgeous and it lasts forever. I love it now but it was one I had to get used to. Although, my mother who is very sensitive to fragrance surprisingly liked it from the start. Ps. I definitely get similarities between TV and Musc Ravageur… so if you’d like to replace the dusty tobacco here with a fresh spicy lavender, check it out. Suuuuper sexy fragrance 👍🏻
For me personally it is surely love at first smell that pushed me to get it within an hour of testing! But my wife has an opposite reaction for it, as she finds it too strong at first and the tabacco essence is not for her. So I’m caught in the middle whether to use it when I’m with her on occasions or when I’m at work events only. This is Fabulous by Tom Ford for me.

I am a pretty Knowledgeable when it comes to fragrances as i have been collecting since 2005. This perfume is best at Winter. If you are going to use this, the winter is perfect. From November to February.
this was an impulse purchase + i luv it - def a cold season scent but i don't treat it as a special fragrance for select occasions though - ive been wearing it for my winter walks outside as of late 😊
Try Eau des Baux by L'Occitane if you want a much less expensive scent in this "smoky vanilla and spices" genre. It's a bit fresher and less cloying too, maybe thanks to the cypress.
I personally love Tobacco Vanille but, I recommend folks get a 10ml travel spray or decant (decantx) first so you can wear it a few times. I honestly think this is one of those scents you have to wear 2 or 3 times at home before you can really tell if its for you. For me it was love at first sniff but I also realize I love heavy cold weather fragrances. Also, I know some people will say this is only a scent for men but, I think a confident woman could pull this off. It was actually a former team lead I had at Penn that introduced this one to me at a holiday party.
I do wear this in the summer and still get great compliments. However I don't wear this all the time. I only wear this when I'm going on vacation or when I travel. Wore this fragrance to Chicago and a lady ran me down to ask what was I wearing.
It's funny because i find TV easy to wear (like a normal autumn or winter scent) while i find TL super situational exactly how u describe TV to be. But vanilla fragrances are super common in winter where i live
I wear it to the grocery store. I don't get the relegating fragrances to being suitable for only particular occasions. I like it on me in the grocery store, in church, in the office and in the club at night. I may wear more spritzes at night out on the town than I'd wear in church or the grocery store, but if I like the fragrance, I don't lock it away for particular occasions.
Bought this for my bf as a Christmas gift- he told me he gravitated towards sweeter fragrances and dug tobacco notes (he's also the only person I know that loves cigarette smoke on my skin, haha, go figure). For me, this is a lady killer/panty dropper, and I want him to smell like this all the time. It is luxurious, complex, warm, and inviting. Sometimes I get tired of the too cool for school ISO E Super clean musk concoctions and this is a great change-up. It is real and has a pulse, but at the same time, this is a man who is about his business. You cannot roll out of bed, put on sweats, spray this on and expect to be taken seriously, but if you wear this to the office you have balls and it is hot. Pay no attention to the haters that call this linear and boring, but be aware that this may be too much for some. Here's a visual for you: this is Antonio Banderas in Original Sin slipping some rum into my Cafe de Olla, asking me "How does it taste?" after taking a puff on a tobacco pipe, and I am totally here for it.
I appreciate your reviews and often follow your advice. However, I have noticed that you usually don't mention how a particular scent or cologne interacts with an individual's skin and body odor, which I believe is an important factor to consider. Nonetheless, I still find your reviews very helpful.
Great review. Agree with everything, excepting statement that you can’t wear it to the office, I mean why not? This one is not really offensive, but of course take in account how does it wok on your skin and what kind of office are you going to.
This is an elegant masterpiece. 50ML will last you a long time, if you wear it for dinner dates and special occasions. It is worth the price if you're going to wear it sporadically. If you're buying it as an everyday wear. You will run through 50ML very quickly and might regret paying so much for it. The choice is yours!

I even had Velvet Orchid for a while, shared with my girlfriend, hah. I don’t think I regretted Tom Ford, they’re long lasting, distinct, but definitely not every day stuff. my issue with it is that it dries down to a strong vanilla scent, which smells like any other vanilla scent in that dry down. I wish it was more linear like Tuscan Leather which was more of an instant love for me than Tobacco Vanille add the tobacco and spicy notes seem to fade away relatively quickly and type left with Vanille thar begins to dominate far too much. I think Tobacco Vanille is slightly overrated, not among his best in the Private range.
The best is from Tom Ford is Tuscan leather . The second best is Tobaco vanille. If someone wants well blended quality fragrances in their colection he must have - 1.Creed Aventus 2.Creed Silver Mountain Water 3. Tom Ford Tuscan leather 4. Tom Ford Tobaco Vanille 5. Layton 6. Intio Oud For Greatness 5. Mancera Cedrat Boise 7. Nishane hacivat 8. Chanel blue edp not edt In here both Tobaco Vanille and Mancera Cedrat Boise are creamy and all the rest are not. Both have vanille. As creamy fragrances both Tobaco vanille and Cedtrat boise are super super smooth. That is why I like them. I do not like creamy fragrances apart from those two . The creaminess in those two is their best thing. So So good. I also don't like vanille yet in those two it is perfected. Layton also has a pronounced vanille . In Layton the vanille is not creamy yet created most sexy sweet but not too sweet. In Tobaco Vanille you feel every ingredient. In Layton and mancera the vanille is more blended .
I am a sucker for tobacco fragrances. Spice bomb extreme, Red tobacco, The One... Those are my jam. I just think that for the price I would rather buy Naxos over tobacco vanille.

Nice breakdown.. it would be nice to get some more of these in the TF range. I love the Noir Extreme, however I am interested in building a collection and mixing as I see that it's something that has been recommended. Got my first 50 ml 2 years ago and it's almost gone, I don't have the mostoney ever but I'm about to buy a 100 ml , I've decided this is MY scent, ill die smelling like this and nothing else
I wish i had seen this video 2 days back before ordering I had black orchid with me and thought to try something new and bought this one . I smoke cigrettes , so tobacco was not an isssue for me . But after the first spray , i feel exactly the way u said , its heavy opening with tobacco leaf and ginger . I am not sure i like it or not . But it is heavy plus i felt like people may choke when they smell it . I bought this for an office use and now i doubt it , On my right hand i sprayed ombrey leather edp . It smells so comfortable and am pretty confident with it that it is an easy wear . I felt black orchid is also unique and gave me many compliments and it is easy to wear . Am not sure what should i do with tobacco vanille . I hope its better to wear in fall and winter.

I wear it to the office :) I live on the northern hemisphere though, temperature here is still very mild. But I would not wear Tobacco Vanille in the summer. That would probably be too much.
@@nic2787 I'm probably a poor representative to answer that ;) , but I'd wear it even in casual clothing if I wanted to. Maybe not in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. But I've worn it several times during summer evenings with white linen pants and a button shirt. It's super potent in the summer though, just like Black Orchid from the same brand.
This one, Oud Wood and Ebene Fume are great. Last one great for dates if u don’t mind a slight sweet smell. And budget pick tom ford ombré leather. Try em out.
I’m still wondering about Tom Ford Oud Wood. Can’t seem to find it on the counter anywhere. Reviewers seem to like it a lot and I’m thinking I’d get one of those $65 travel sprays being that the full bottle is $170-$350 depending what flavor it is and I doubt I’d use it nearly as much as D&G The One or YSL La Nuit.
For me, oud wood smells really smooth and versatile. The smoothness of the oud what makes me love it. But i heard its not long lasting and some guy said they recommend oud wood intense. Never smelt the intense version but if the original lasts longer, it would be my top 3 fragrance of all time. (Not 1 because it's an oud scent. fresh/blue fragrances still top sweet fragrances for me)
Just order a sample from one of the sample websites. Avoid blind buying. Even $65 travel spray is not worth it if you don't know what you're getting. Unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket.
I agree. It's a nice scent but the cost will be hard to justify in most cases. It's very heavy and sticky. Not a blind buy for sure. It's also rough around the edges, as most Tom Fords are which can make it piercing to the noses around you. Probably fine if you already own many fragrances and just want something extra for a specific mood/occasion, but not for sporting around the office or any environment of that sort.
Agreed. I pair it with black afgano or spice bomb for a more "complete" fragrance profile. Always look for perfumers in your region that manufacture clones. I found one in mine and they did a fantastic job I agree it's best for an occasion as the scent doesn't wear down through a long day of work at all and you'd rather wear something more low key on the daily.
@@RexGalilae yeah, spice bomb is good for pairing with some of TF’s fragrances. I pair SB with TF Noir because I can never wear that perfume on its own for whatever reason.
@@tracyfins I see. I've never worn TF Noir but I agree with you here. All of Tom Ford's artisanal fragrances have a very narrow profile, highlighting one or two notes. It's usually better to buy a clone so you can layer it with something else for a more complete smell

@@tracyfins Try the original and see if you like it. From my experience, the clones are usually more vanilla forward while the original, more tobacco forward. If you're a woman, the clone might better suit you. As a guy in his mid twenties, I prefer the clones too I feel I'm not old enough to pull off that gentlemanly, mature heavy Tobacco note on the original but your milage may vary
If I were rich, I would have this scent pumped in through the air vents in my house. It is easily my favorite smell in fragrances with Oud Wood a closet second.

Love at first sniff for me but revolting to some others in my circle (hot southeast asia climate). I found out that mixing a couple drops of TF Tobacco Vanille concentrate fragrance oil into my CK One Shock for him create quite a comfortable mixture.
@@nic2787 you ideally don't want to be too casual with any Tom Ford fragrances. They're designed for professional men or people who wear formal casual. But you definitely wouldn't Wear it with a hoodie and sports pants. A pair of chinos and and a shirt is add casual as you should go with any Tom Ford

Its my #1 Fragrance and I get a lot of compliments when I wear it. Seems like people in the higher tax bracket appreciate this fragrance more.
For me personally it is surely love at first smell that pushed me to get it within an hour of testing! But my wife has an opposite reaction for it, as she finds it too strong at first and the tabacco essence is not for her. So I’m caught in the middle whether to use it when I’m with her on occasions or when I’m at work events only. This is Fabulous by Tom Ford for me.
Tom Ford F***ing Fabulous is one of my faves. Pricey but unique.

I got from amazon tabaco n vanilla blend cologne n think is the closest i love it cost me 22💰 for a 3.3 bottle

I am a pretty Knowledgeable when it comes to fragrances as i have been collecting since 2005. This perfume is best at Winter. If you are going to use this, the winter is perfect. From November to February.
this was an impulse purchase + i luv it - def a cold season scent but i don't treat it as a special fragrance for select occasions though - ive been wearing it for my winter walks outside as of late 😊
Try Eau des Baux by L'Occitane if you want a much less expensive scent in this "smoky vanilla and spices" genre. It's a bit fresher and less cloying too, maybe thanks to the cypress.
yes! Eau des Baux is a fantastic alternative and much cheaper. Nowhere near as opulent/refined as TV but same DNA made slightly fresher.
Bro how you described this is exactly how I feel!! This style fragrance is great in colder weather, dressed-up, which is not my climate or vibe often.
I personally love Tobacco Vanille but, I recommend folks get a 10ml travel spray or decant (decantx) first so you can wear it a few times. I honestly think this is one of those scents you have to wear 2 or 3 times at home before you can really tell if its for you. For me it was love at first sniff but I also realize I love heavy cold weather fragrances.
Also, I know some people will say this is only a scent for men but, I think a confident woman could pull this off. It was actually a former team lead I had at Penn that introduced this one to me at a holiday party.

I do wear this in the summer and still get great compliments. However I don't wear this all the time. I only wear this when I'm going on vacation or when I travel. Wore this fragrance to Chicago and a lady ran me down to ask what was I wearing.

It's funny because i find TV easy to wear (like a normal autumn or winter scent) while i find TL super situational exactly how u describe TV to be. But vanilla fragrances are super common in winter where i live
This and Oud Wood are in rotation in my collection. It compliments well after smoking a cuban cigar.

I wear it to the grocery store. I don't get the relegating fragrances to being suitable for only particular occasions. I like it on me in the grocery store, in church, in the office and in the club at night. I may wear more spritzes at night out on the town than I'd wear in church or the grocery store, but if I like the fragrance, I don't lock it away for particular occasions.
Bought this for my bf as a Christmas gift- he told me he gravitated towards sweeter fragrances and dug tobacco notes (he's also the only person I know that loves cigarette smoke on my skin, haha, go figure). For me, this is a lady killer/panty dropper, and I want him to smell like this all the time. It is luxurious, complex, warm, and inviting. Sometimes I get tired of the too cool for school ISO E Super clean musk concoctions and this is a great change-up. It is real and has a pulse, but at the same time, this is a man who is about his business. You cannot roll out of bed, put on sweats, spray this on and expect to be taken seriously, but if you wear this to the office you have balls and it is hot. Pay no attention to the haters that call this linear and boring, but be aware that this may be too much for some. Here's a visual for you: this is Antonio Banderas in Original Sin slipping some rum into my Cafe de Olla, asking me "How does it taste?" after taking a puff on a tobacco pipe, and I am totally here for it.
I appreciate your reviews and often follow your advice. However, I have noticed that you usually don't mention how a particular scent or cologne interacts with an individual's skin and body odor, which I believe is an important factor to consider. Nonetheless, I still find your reviews very helpful.

This is by far my favorite cologne. Not only do I wear it all the time, I spray it on my sheets before I go to bed.

Great review. Agree with everything, excepting statement that you can’t wear it to the office, I mean why not? This one is not really offensive, but of course take in account how does it wok on your skin and what kind of office are you going to.
This is an elegant masterpiece. 50ML will last you a long time, if you wear it for dinner dates and special occasions. It is worth the price if you're going to wear it sporadically. If you're buying it as an everyday wear. You will run through 50ML very quickly and might regret paying so much for it. The choice is yours!

i’m secure enough in myself i’m going all in on this fragrance
my issue with it is that it dries down to a strong vanilla scent, which smells like any other vanilla scent in that dry down. I wish it was more linear like Tuscan Leather which was more of an instant love for me than Tobacco Vanille add the tobacco and spicy notes seem to fade away relatively quickly and type left with Vanille thar begins to dominate far too much. I think Tobacco Vanille is slightly overrated, not among his best in the Private range.

Classic, and I agree with TB that it is difficult to wear this every day.
The best is from Tom Ford is Tuscan leather . The second best is Tobaco vanille.

3. Tom Ford Tuscan leather
4. Tom Ford Tobaco Vanille
5. Layton
6. Intio Oud For Greatness
5. Mancera Cedrat Boise
7. Nishane hacivat
8. Chanel blue edp not edt
In here both Tobaco Vanille and Mancera Cedrat Boise are creamy and all the rest are not. Both have vanille.
As creamy fragrances both Tobaco vanille and Cedtrat boise are super super smooth. That is why I like them.
I do not like creamy fragrances apart from those two . The creaminess in those two is their best thing.
So So good.
I also don't like vanille yet in those two it is perfected.
Layton also has a pronounced vanille . In Layton the vanille is not creamy yet created most sexy sweet but not too sweet.
In Tobaco Vanille you feel every ingredient. In Layton and mancera the vanille is more blended .

I am a sucker for tobacco fragrances. Spice bomb extreme, Red tobacco, The One... Those are my jam. I just think that for the price I would rather buy Naxos over tobacco vanille.

I had black orchid with me and thought to try something new and bought this one .
I smoke cigrettes , so tobacco was not an isssue for me .
But after the first spray , i feel exactly the way u said , its heavy opening with tobacco leaf and ginger .
I am not sure i like it or not . But it is heavy plus i felt like people may choke when they smell it .
I bought this for an office use and now i doubt it ,
On my right hand i sprayed ombrey leather edp . It smells so comfortable and am pretty confident with it that it is an easy wear .
I felt black orchid is also unique and gave me many compliments and it is easy to wear .
Am not sure what should i do with tobacco vanille . I hope its better to wear in fall and winter.

Tobacco Vanille straight up turns to rootbeer on my skin. It's not unpleasant, but it's certainly not something that works in my favor.
Tobacco Vanille strangely smells like an opium den I've been to in India. 🤔
I wear it to the office :) I live on the northern hemisphere though, temperature here is still very mild. But I would not wear Tobacco Vanille in the summer. That would probably be too much.

@@nic2787 I'm probably a poor representative to answer that ;) , but I'd wear it even in casual clothing if I wanted to. Maybe not in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. But I've worn it several times during summer evenings with white linen pants and a button shirt. It's super potent in the summer though, just like Black Orchid from the same brand.

I’m still wondering about Tom Ford Oud Wood. Can’t seem to find it on the counter anywhere. Reviewers seem to like it a lot and I’m thinking I’d get one of those $65 travel sprays being that the full bottle is $170-$350 depending what flavor it is and I doubt I’d use it nearly as much as D&G The One or YSL La Nuit.

For me, oud wood smells really smooth and versatile. The smoothness of the oud what makes me love it. But i heard its not long lasting and some guy said they recommend oud wood intense. Never smelt the intense version but if the original lasts longer, it would be my top 3 fragrance of all time. (Not 1 because it's an oud scent. fresh/blue fragrances still top sweet fragrances for me)
I sprayed every 3 hours since I couldn't smell it after those hours lol
Just order a sample from one of the sample websites. Avoid blind buying. Even $65 travel spray is not worth it if you don't know what you're getting. Unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket.

I agree. It's a nice scent but the cost will be hard to justify in most cases. It's very heavy and sticky. Not a blind buy for sure. It's also rough around the edges, as most Tom Fords are which can make it piercing to the noses around you. Probably fine if you already own many fragrances and just want something extra for a specific mood/occasion, but not for sporting around the office or any environment of that sort.
Agreed. I pair it with black afgano or spice bomb for a more "complete" fragrance profile.
Always look for perfumers in your region that manufacture clones. I found one in mine and they did a fantastic job
I agree it's best for an occasion as the scent doesn't wear down through a long day of work at all and you'd rather wear something more low key on the daily.
@@RexGalilae yeah, spice bomb is good for pairing with some of TF’s fragrances. I pair SB with TF Noir because I can never wear that perfume on its own for whatever reason.

All of Tom Ford's artisanal fragrances have a very narrow profile, highlighting one or two notes.
It's usually better to buy a clone so you can layer it with something else for a more complete smell

Try the original and see if you like it. From my experience, the clones are usually more vanilla forward while the original, more tobacco forward.
If you're a woman, the clone might better suit you. As a guy in his mid twenties, I prefer the clones too
I feel I'm not old enough to pull off that gentlemanly, mature heavy Tobacco note on the original but your milage may vary
If I were rich, I would have this scent pumped in through the air vents in my house. It is easily my favorite smell in fragrances with Oud Wood a closet second.
That solo fragrance list is so powerfull
Maybe go for Herod if you want something more wearable and versatile
After Terre Hermes i can only find Tom Ford and Botega Venneta perfumes exciting and unforgetable .

Love at first sniff for me but revolting to some others in my circle (hot southeast asia climate). I found out that mixing a couple drops of TF Tobacco Vanille concentrate fragrance oil into my CK One Shock for him create quite a comfortable mixture.

@@nic2787 you ideally don't want to be too casual with any Tom Ford fragrances. They're designed for professional men or people who wear formal casual. But you definitely wouldn't Wear it with a hoodie and sports pants. A pair of chinos and and a shirt is add casual as you should go with any Tom Ford
I wear it to work at a bank in the cold weather (judicious amounts of course). It goes over well.
