    • @mr.m4n446
      @mr.m4n446 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@lavishlex First, buy what you like.
      Second, if you want more scarce or rare look for the circle flame on the car and on the front of the card (grey/silver in color), just behind the vehicle, these are Treasure Hunts. If you find a vehicle with a gold circle flame logo on the front of the card and the letters TH on the vehicle this is a Super Treasure Hunt and more rare.
      Happy hunting!

    We bought my son tons of hot wheels. So he got older and we cleaned out the toys. Yard sale time. When it came time I allowed the sale of most every toy ...legos...etc... but not the hot wheels. Something in me made me keep them so basically we still have them. Now I want to get into the hobby....

    Cracked me up at the end! I remember I had to whine for a couple of weeks before Mom would finally part with the cash so I could send off, join the club and get that car! Recently dug it out and have it sitting here in front of me now. Still a prized possession from my childhood and, yes, I think I'd still be mad, too, even after all of these years, if someone had ripped off my chrome Boss Hoss Club Car!

    Help please: Looking for info:
    2012 HW City Works: Bad Bagger: Motorcycle: # 137/247 at the top of the card, it reads 7/10
    To me it looks light blue, but some research seems to classify it as teal.
    Instead of being on a regular card, some stores got their cars on half sized cards (Due to limited space at check outs, I’m assuming.)
    I’m going thru my collection and tried to find it on eBay and just googling in general.
    Can anyone tell me more about this item?
    Are half card hot wheel cars more/less/same value as the full size cards?
    Was this one valuable?
    I collected it because I love Motorcycles.
    Thanks

    • @Lds252
      @Lds252 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think I found it on Google. It’s not more valuable than the full sized card I don’t think. Although it’s more rare to find. I’m not sure. Maybe I could send you a screenshot with proof I found it on like instagram?

    I just started. 3 months & 300 cars in so far. Going to my first meet & yeah, it's definitely addicting. Especially for someone like myself who grew up on the poor side where even buying a 99¢ HWs wasn't often. So now that I'm showing my nephew HWs & building this diorama. I suddenly snap that as an adult, I can buy all the HWs I want for myself & I just can't stop 😂

    Here's my question. I'm new to the Hot Wheels collectors scene but, I collect for fun. Taking the advice from this video, I only buy what I like. Anyway, should I open and take my Hot Wheels out of the packaging or keep them as they are? What's everyones take on this topic?

    • @collectorguys
      @collectorguys  4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Ha, one of the great questions of all time: do I leave the toy in the box or take it out? Personally I judge that on rarity. If the item is super rare when it's mint in the box and I like it that way then I keep it as is. But if it is something that you can find and buy without too much trouble... I am open it up! For the most part these are meant to be picked up! Thanks for watching. Anyone else think otherwise?

    • @NitrocideOfficial
      @NitrocideOfficial 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      They are meant to be open. BUT don‘t open Super Treasure Hunts, or other rare cars. For the most part, i open them up cuz i have a diaroma and i like to ‚feel‘ the car u know. Its more fun like that, plus easier to display and store

    Stick to decades,60s 70s 80s 90s etc.....go to shows look for finds,don’t overwhelm your collection
    It can become a nightmare,and as you get older and not as lucid,you’ll end up giving some away.
    Try to stay in the 200 to 500 pcs,and handle the cars rip them open,unless you handle these cars
    you don’t own them.Build a nice shelf and admire them!

    I've recently begun collecting in earnest after the arrival of my son. In the span of one year, I must have accumulated 400 cars, specifically road cars. I rarely pick up anything else, apart from the occasional DeLorean time machine or ghostbuster Cadillac. Mostly I try to obtain three copies. One for him, one for his soon to arrive sibling, and the third for me, to keep in the packaging. Of course, there are certain models I have far more of. Mostly Japanese sportscars, or anything that looks like a station wagon. It doesn't help that I work within 100m of the largest hot wheels supplier for the city I live in. There's a 2020 H case sitting next to me as I'm typing this with a half dozen GMC cyclones in it that I picked up last Thursday.
    As far as addictions go, this one isn't too bad.

    3:15 best advice in collecting of course has to come from someone that knows best. Collectors are the ones that set the price for every casting, imagine if no one would pay over shelf price for a “Premium” casting, when someone does it ruins the hobby for the real collectors.

    Started collecting Hot Wheels 10 years ago and it was fun. But after a few years and over 50 vehicles, I got bored of it. The cars really didn’t do anything for me. So I stopped. I still collect hot wheels. But it’s movie vehicles. Stuff y/see in Batman, James Bond, Star Wars etc. I have 19 movie vehicles right now. You got to find something you like. And I did.

    Another great episode!
    I've recently found myself picking up these random food based hotwheels from my grocery store. One is a indie car shaped like a hotdog, another is a like a flatbed truck with a big hamburger on the back, and then one is a toaster with toast that pops up. I used to have an official Oscar Meyer Wiener-mobile growing up, but not anymore... Unless I find another one in the wild, lol

    Is it worth it to start collecting in 2020? I loved Hot Wheels as a kid... I still do. Once I had my 1st child I went from cars an action figures to dolls an tea sets lol.

      I would say definitely worth it. First, Hot Wheels are an easy hobby to start: they are affordable and don't take much room at home. Second hobbies keep you sane and give you something to ponder while you wait at your kids soccer practice, ballet practice, science club...

    My dad left me a collection of around 200 in-box hot wheels from around 1994-1998
    How would I go about selling them? Is there a website (other than eBay/Amazon)

      I believe there are Facebook pages devoted to selling and trading Hot Wheels. I would start there.

    Is it just me? Collecting hot wheels at stores seems to be so lame these days! The past few years the selection just sucks! Treasure hunts, yeah right! Chances of winning something with the Lotto, than finding a cool car worth collecting seems more possible.
    Collected for over 30 years, and now what's the point?
