This even happens in our own mother tongue-we often lack vocabulary in many areas. For example, if I tried to speak with a fisherman in my country, I wouldn’t be able to hold a conversation with him for even 10 seconds. We can't engage in technical conversations about topics we're unfamiliar with. If we tried talking to a baker, we'd get stuck. The vocabulary we should focus on learning is the vocabulary that's common to everyone, as well as the vocabulary relevant to our hobbies and professions. You are doing a great job Veronika.
Learning English is a lot of fun for me but sometimes it's boring and I feel depressed in my process.. How precisely Miss Veronica is explaining how I feel a lot of things inside me. Thank you so much.
I felt identified with a lot of the things that you said. I have studied English actively for three years now, with a personal tutor, and sometimes I feel frustrated because of my mistakes, even sometimes I feel sad after a lesson because I feel that I move one step forward and two steps backward. I think that understanding that learning is not lineal, and that motivation runs out quickly, it's important to be disciplined and continue studying. Constancy is key in any long term goal. Thank you Veronika for this video, it contains tons of useful information. I know that I have said this before, but I'm very thankful to you because you have been key in my learning journey ❤️
Thank you so much for sharing this, Jahaziel! I completely understand the frustration-it’s totally natural to feel like you’re moving backward sometimes while learning a new language. You're absolutely right: learning is never a straight line, and consistency is everything. ✨
@veronika_languagediaries I really love you so a teacher 💫 & sister. I can imagine my life without your channel and ur contents. Keep going I will support you always. I follow up on TikTok, Instagram. I really want to text you when day😢
0:25 You're right, Learning a new language can be fun, but It's not easy and That's okay because Nothing comes easily. I still learning English and I enjoy it because I like it. Thank you so much for your advice, You're very wise and You're really pretty.
For my french lessons i downloaded a copy of La Bible (which for some reason start with Exode 😅) and use some complimentary content on TH-cam that goes into the basics of the language (the alphabet, idioms, and more!)
In Portuguese, English and Spanish is very common using double negatives, especially in Brazil. And I can't get out of the double negative, I use anytime ;-;
I think racism is one of the most difficult parts of learning a new language in a foreign country for that reason many new learners are afraid when they’re trying to learn it and no one is talking about it. I saw this situation in many countries
Why do you think full immersion means living in the country whose language you are learning? Full immersion means 'living' the language! Consuming information, reading books/magazines/articles/internet, listening to and watching films/serials/videos, speaking and writing in the language - that's full immersion.
That's why most adults will never learn a foreign language, they just don't have the time and desire to immerse themselves in the language! They devote a very small amount of time to it - one episode of a TV series once a week, one page of a book a day, learn 5 words a day, poke at an app for 10 minutes a day - that's the most they can do. You need to devote at least 5 hours a day to the language for 3-7 years (depending on your ability), then you can expect serious results.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Tad! I absolutely agree that true immersion is all about surrounding yourself with the language in every way possible, not necessarily moving to another country. It’s powerful to “live” the language daily through books, videos, conversations, and more, even from your own home. And yes, consistency and dedication are huge factors!
I hear you, and I know how discouraging it can feel to see something you’ve worked at for so long still feel just out of reach. But remember, fluency isn’t a strict finish line-it’s more like a continuum. 🌟
Hello Veronica, could you upload a video of how to be confident while speaking and thinking about mistakes while speaking and i get confused and my speaking becomes sluggish

I have to admit once and for all that I will never be fluent in English after 20 years of learning it.
I hear you, and I know how discouraging it can feel to see something you’ve worked at for so long still feel just out of reach. But remember, fluency isn’t a strict finish line-it’s more like a continuum. 🌟
