It wasn’t until after I got married that I realized this is an issue. It never would have occurred to me that Pakistanis, especially the ones who pride themselves on being such good Muslims, could be *this* shallow. I thought it was gross enough when I heard people say, “we only want a Punjabi/Urdu-speaking/Memon girl.” My parents never had that mentality. All they wanted was for me to marry a good Muslim. Alhamdulillah, I’m very blessed with my husband, but he comes from a community that doesn’t typically marry outside their tribe, so I’m automatically branded “an outsider.”

I can so relate to this video,I'm not married or anything but all my entire life I've been taught to go with what people think ,and now I have changed dramatically because of that and most girls sit their and be bullied and it hurts what people say about anyone even though they arent you . It's nice to see that you are getting that message out there. I hope no other brown girl goes through this .

I cried, I married a Sikh man being a Muslim Pakistani and he has never stopped me practicing Islam he practices with me. My parents left me but years later when they saw his effort and stopped listening to others and saw how well he treated me they came around. Some of these moments took me back to my darkest times. Thank you for this!
