Is it reasonable to expect most professional singers to have at least at two octave range?

Two octaves is what the average person can cover. With the right technique I think most people could cover two octaves. There have been plenty of hit records that don't hit 2 octaves so I don't think it's a requirement. But if you wanted to work as a studio background singer for instance, there is more demand to have a bigger range.
