This past week I'd bought $84 worth of cereal, $48 worth of Pop Tarts (one of every flavor they had), $60+ worth of various brands of cookies, and ALL of the Maruchan ramen noodles. None of my family knows about it, and it's very likely gonna stay that way.

in America, employment is 'at will' meaning EITHER party, the employer OR the employee that can end the employment at any time. a company isnt required to tell you two weeks before firing you, so giving a two week notice is a courtesy. if you leave without one, probably dont put that job on your resume obviously, but yeah.
I can sort of (but not really) understand the reason people are fired after giving a 2 week notice. Sort of can because who would want someone who’s on their way out to have an opportunity to mess with their business? But not really because it’s not like the people who are forced out. The people giving 2 weeks are trying to go their separate ways amiably, and don’t strike me as trouble makers…unless you insult them of course, like with a petty gesture like firing someone after they gave notice.
I've always got along really well with the managers at every job I've been to. So, thankfully, my boss was cool about the two-week leave thing when it happened with me. Left on good terms, said I was welcome to come back if I wanted. Really nice guy.
I actually got on the reverse end of the no longer having a job and not being communicated to. I had a job at a certain store for almost 3 years and then shortly after Christmas they stop calling me in for work so I think oh they must be training some new people need me to work right now so a couple weeks past and I called and they’re like oh yeah you don’t work here anymore.
I mean I have about 36k in student loans that I will start paying back next year but I knew me taking out loans from the government would equal me paying it back after. I also know that college isn't needed unless the work you want to do requires it
Personally you got lucky with Terry. I worked as a pizza delivery guy for a year and when I left I told my boss I gave him my two weeks notice and he decided he already didn’t like me. So he decided that for my last two weeks he was gonna basically constantly have me and constantly make me do the Worst most disgusting jobs I could and he would blame everything on me. Like there was a point where he literally made the wrong pizza and I took it out and the customers like this is not the pizza I ordered and he said instead of being his fault for making the wrong pizza putting on the wrong toppings and all that it was my fault because I didn’t check the pizza before I left. I would’ve been fine if he was like yes I messed up but you also should’ve checked the pizza before you left but Instead he refused to take any blame whatsoever for the incorrectly made pizza and place the entirety of the blame on me saying that I was an idiot for not checking it and that it was my responsibility to make sure that he and made the correct pizza.
That guy needs to sort out his priorities since if he did that to everyone that gave their two weeks notice then they will tell other and he will not get anymore people to work for him because of his caustic attitude. Is he still in business now?
