I’m only slightly familiar with the caucus concept. Would love to know more about who routinely uses it in the Lansing area instead of a party primary . What are the basic rules? It seems like advance notice and start times might become an issue for the Thornton Township Democrat caucus . It feels counterintuitive to a fair process for choosing nominees, but it must be a choice for a reason.
There was advance notice and notification of start times... They even post a fire on the door and gave contact info. But yes, you're right.. I'm sure they created the process for a reason, perhaps as a failsafe to get rid of corrupt politicians who make it hard for themselves to lose power.

My current understanding (subject to change as I learn more) is that each Committeeman, both Republican and Democrat, has the authority to call a caucus. In addition, there are some general rules that govern the proceedings, but also some rules that the Committeemen have the authority to set with the approval of the committee members.

I'm not sure about that. The Republican Caucus had a rule that disallowed people from participating or being on the ticket if they had voted in the 2024 Democratic Primary, or if they were an elected or appointed official of a different political party. It's possible the Thornton Township Democratic Committee has similar rules in place.
I hope people give the Republican slate a chance. All current people need to go. They all have been unprofessional in this Henyard debacle with not showing up for meetings and arguing.

My sincere prayers for his full recovery. Notwithstanding his physical condition, he isn’t articulating the positive changes he and his team could bring to the township. He sounds like Tiff...empty. So the Republicans didn't have to name an Assessor on the slate? They said Tiffany's slate ballot was invalid because it named an Assessor.

This guy seems weak and lack the stamina to run a township. Better look at the folks running with him on his ticket. What’s with the mask in a room of 7 people?? Why not conduct the interview at a slight distance, showing transparency. This gives Darlene Everest vibes.
When I spoke with him before the meeting started he explained that he had some kind of surgery(?) and was being careful but also hiding the wound. It was difficult for me to hear him, so I'm not exactly sure what he was saying, but I got the sense that there was a specific reason for the mask at this time.
My sincere prayers for his full recovery. Notwithstanding his physical condition, he isn’t articulating the positive changes he and his team could bring to the township. He sounds like Tiff...empty. He’s got to step his game up. The township will sense his weakness immediately. The residents have learned very with Tiff.
Maybe some wear masks, because they are taking care of a loved one at home (like I’m doing, for our son with Lung Cancer) please show respect, you don’t know everyone’s story.🙏🙏
