Ive been using a saddle for 3 years now. What ive found is that its just another option. Not any better than a treestand. Especially todays extreme lightweight stands.
Its more work, for one. Everytime im setting up, i can see at least another tree i couldve already climbed up in and been set up and settled down in by the time im getting started setting up my first stick.
They are fun, but the way you hang off the tree makes you terribly visible. Yeah the idea is to hide behind the tree from where you anticipate the deer coming from, but we all know that doesnt work like that most of the time.
3rd, by the time you spent several hi dred dollars upgrading thru different saddles to find one thats actually half way comfortable to sit in for awhile, you couldve just sat comfortably in your climber.
And yes, saddles themselves are lightweight, but with sticks, ropes, carabiners, pouches, your pack and gear, it comes out to more or the same weight as a mobile treestand.
Ive put it to the test and and for me its kind of a pain in the ass and gets way too technical.
I have a lonewolf hand climber and by the time your setting up to climb, im already settled in, as high or low as i want. And its way more quiet.

@@IndianaSmoke I think it’s all personal preference and that’s what makes hunting so much fun.

Rose nippers, the cut small limbs nicely and quickly.
