something that I think is crazy is that Jane is the only one who says nothing bad about Henry in her songs. her songs are about how she truly loved him and how Henry says “theyre a perfect family” Jane is the only one who had an actual burial and Henry is buried next to her. Jane was the first wife to have a long living male heir. in mega six, the queens interrupt each other’s songs, symbolizing Henry seeing the other women. ex “sorry bro sorry bout what I said, I’m just tryna have some fun” “n-n-no way” Henry seeing Anne while being married to his first wife. while Jane cuts off Anne “you can build me up” “lol, say oh well” no one cuts off Jane” maybe Jane and Henry were the only ones in love and Henry tried to get over her by marrying different women🤔 just a theory
I saw someone else point out that they had the queens sing over eachother to represent the real king henry seeing the real queens at the same time, Pretty much all of them sing over eachother when they transition between their parts except for Jane Seymour & Anne of Cleaves and Catherine Howard & Catherine Parr, since he spent a while grieving Seymour's death before finding Anne and he didn't see Howard and Parr at the same time for other reasons that I can't remember
Hannah Renee I don’t believe that Henry loved Jane anymore than his other wives because it was just circumstance that made him decide to be berried by Jane due to the fact that Henry exiled Katherine of Aragon because she didn’t want the divorce, Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard were both beheaded for sleeping with others which Henry claimed as treason despite the fact that we have found out that there wasn’t enough evidence to support a case for either of them to be beheaded. Finally both Anne of cleaves and Katherine Parr were both still alive when Henry died.
Hannah Renee correction Anne of cleaves had a proper burial as Mary 1 gave her one and you can still see her tomb at Westminster Abbey. Secondly Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard were both executed for treason so they were considered criminals by the eyes of the law and NO ONE got a funeral if they were executed. Thirdly Katherine Parr never got a burial because after Henry died she got married to Thomas Seymour, Jane Seymour’s brother, who ended up getting for treason because he had attempted to overthrow his brother, Edward, as Lord Protector. Finally Henry didn’t believe Catherine of Aragon deserved a funeral as he had exiled her because she didn’t want to accept the divorce. Henry even denied Mary the right to see her when Catherine was on her deathbed.
Lily Rubin understudies normally only cover 1 or 2 roles, alternates/swings cover everyone meaning they need a costume that isn’t specific to one role. hope that helped :))
Yeah just sucks that they aren't as good as originals like they're good but like they don't have a theme? If that's the correct word like boylen has major green elements their alternatives are just black and white and more simple. Like i get they simplify them to fit each queen but i saw one performance where it was a plus size woman doing the first queens part and she had simple smooth piece on with like shoulder bits and like two bits on her theighs and it was really boring she was good 2 also they always dont fit with all the other outfits
Margot Lymbery to add on, they also try to do the hair and if they’re playing Aragon or Cleves they have the spike crown, and the necklace for either of the beheaded queens
@Margot Lymbery they actually don’t all have green cuffs! they don’t have too because it is a reference to the song greensleeves, and not the actual outfit. the only ones who had green cuffs were Grace Mouat pre west end (she didn’t wear them on the west end) and Mallory Maedke in chicago (this is because US audiences are much less likely to understand the greensleeves song reference)
Is there a pattern to knowing when an alternate will definitely be on, or when a queen’s rest day is? I love all of them, but really wanna see Maiya and Aimee in the one time I can go!
Her last performance is the 13th October. She’ll be replaced by Courtney Bowman. Very sad to see Millie go, but cannot wait to see what Courtney will bring!
There is a loose plot where the queen's are competing on who had it worse/who has the best song. So there is dialogue between each song. It isn't like a traditional musical more like a concert
Brody cause 1. The costumes are made specifically for each actress so they wouldn’t be able to fit every single one 2. They are actually swings which means they can go on for multiple tracks in the show so their costume needs to be able to make minor changes to be able to fit each queens character
Oh and Broadway had to unfortunately remove alt costumes so now the swings have to wear matching costumes because of Broadway rules. 😢 First no recording the Megasix now no unique costumes! But I still love them wearing the main ones tho!
All understudies cover all 6 queens, and it’s too much money to make 6 different outfits for each one. So instead they have their own costumes with different attachments to represent queens they mainly cover for
