So there’s a plate that sticks onto the door using 3M adhesive and then the lock clips onto the plate and screw in at the bottom. No screws go into the door.
Hey Matt, The Original App for this Gimdow lock no longer in Google Play. 1) How to pair the keypad to the lock? (Accidentally pressed "Set" to both the lock & the keypad). Hence we can assume both already at factory reset. 2) How to sync the devices to multi mode gateway like broadlink.
Matt Rob: If you have a remote far away property and you issue a key to a guest, since this is just on bluetooth it will not work correct? Is it true that you have to issue your key when in the vicinity of your lock so your iPhone can communicate with the lock, then send the email to your guest? There is no communication between my Gimdow lock and the Gimdow cloud when my iPhone is not in the vicinity correct? Or am I wrong? Just curious if you can use these for remote vacation rentals?
So when you issue a key it sends a link to the person's phone and it asks them to install the gimdow app. It uses their Bluetooth to connect to the door lock which then allows the door to be remotely unlocked
@@MattRobb Understood. Not optimal, and kind of a hassle for guests - they just want to receive a code and punch it in, not download an app, create an account in a Chinese database, then punch in a code. But I get it wifi radios chew batteries and not as secure as bluetooth.
Matt Robb thanks Matt for clarifying! :) Btw u don't mean on 00:30-00:35 right? Because in that part it also wiggles 🤔 Also, what does "on squint" mean?
“It’s actually pretty sturdy and doesn’t wriggle at all”… next frame shows lock loosely wriggling about whilst opening and closing… this locks needs to be screwed in, not using adhesive pad, otherwise anyone can take the key pad so effortlessly…
It did wiggle but it was because in that shot I didn’t have the lock aligned correctly so the rotation of the lock was forcing it to move. I recently moved and it took me and my friend about 30 minutes to pull of the keypad because the adhesive was so strong, I ended up using a knife and had to cut it off. It was actually very difficult.
How are you able to move the handle from inside if the smartlock is obstructing its movement?
What is that bit at the bottom? Does it screw into the door? I need one that doesn't create holes...

How does it lock up when you are leaving the house?
Can I open it without smartphone from inside?))
Yes you simply twist it and it will automatically rotate in the direction you twist it
No longer works with Google Home...
Mine never worked with google home because the door lock is Bluetooth
@@MattRobb the gateway is IP and controls via wifi... I have been able to use voice commands via Google Home for the last 2 years until yesterday...
Oh wow I never even knew it could do that
Dude that thing obviously wiggles at the end of its locking/unlocking motion
How can u say there's no wiggle 😂
In that clip the lock was on squint. I fixed it and put it back on straight you can see in the earlier clips compared to the ones near the end

@@randyyleee like it wasn't straight on the door it was at an angle and yeah later half of the video I refitted it to make it straight.
Matt Robb but the one that wiggles is at the later part of the video at 3:40-3:50
