I don't think hardly any time has passed since the Mutiny in the show's prologue and the kids getting to Port Borgo. That ishi tib that got his eye shot out was only just getting a cybernetic replacement during the chase scene, so Jod was only in that little prison for an hour or two, if that. Plus, there were plenty of shadows, it makes sense that the kids didn't see him.
Not gonna lie, my favourite moment was the reference to the Holiday Special. I absolutely cracked up when I saw they'd included that! Absolutely inspired choice.
@@ghiggs8389 He didnt really seem to need any help escaping, he broke out of the cell and stole a ship all on his own, just was nice enough to offer them a ride
This show had me smiling nonstop and I am nearly strictly Andor person after Mandalorian season 3 and all the other failure shows. As an 80s kid, they hit every right level, from the nods to the aesthetic, the script and the casting was on point. I could not help but think that the actress who played Fern would have been an amazing daughter to Han Solo and Princess Leia. She had a lot of Fordisms lol
I was so impressed about how original they were making a young boy dumb and stupid and a young woman strong powerful and smart and intelligent it's so original
so havent enjoyed Star wars in a while. Me and the wife and kids sat down last night and watched it, and we all enjoyed it. It's not perfect or a 10/10 but it was fun for me and the fam. So thats a positive!
The mystery of the planet is starting to be my most interested part. Tying to the High Republic or something seems interesting. If that is the case. I don’t know. I guess we will see.
I enjoyed Skeleton Crew will AKA really be known as “Space Goonies” far more than I had expected. I love we have some scum & villainy characters from the cantina of Mos Eisley, it can’t be a coincidence
I agree with naboo I think Jude laws character has made a deal with the other pirates to help the kids get back to their home planet and then turn on them, tell the other pirates who then plan to invade at attin. I think at attin is shielded and is like what the galaxy was like pre clone wars
I have a feeling the great treasure is family… and by family I more leaning towards found family. It is a Disney show after all, and such a saccharine “plot twist “ would be welcome as a juxtaposition against the more serious themed Star Wars.
I would also say maybe Jude Law’s character had tried to escape before or he hadn’t had a ship to leave. He’s probably notoriously disliked. I guess it depends on how deep of a betrayal they want to have for the kids and the audience. 🧐 🤔
I honestly didn't even give much attention to the mystery while watching... I just enjoyed it. It didn't rock my world, but... I definitely wouldn't complain to get a series like this once in a while! And it's not just better than The Acolyte... It was better than Kenobi, TBOBF, Mando season 3 and so on.
Hey Thor, do you think this will matter at all? Meaning most seem to not care about Skeleton Crew and aren’t watching it. What do you think impact of low viewership have going forward for Disney and Star Wars?
He clearly could've taken the key whenever he wanted, something he obviously hasn't shown his old crew, but he didn't have a ship to escape on until the kids arrived. Then he overhears them talk about the legendary treasure planet. Sounds too good to be true, from his perspective. The mystery regarding their home-world is intriguing and the action scenes are better than most Disney Star Wars, except from when they expect us to believe that children can outrun anything larger than them. I can't call it good, because it's predictable and quite openly plagiaristic, but it's better than most Disney Star Wars.
My thoughts are that he couldn't escape before because he had no ride off the port. It's like the difference between trying to comandeer a ship full of pitates or getting kids with their own ship to trust you and let you take their ship.
The mystery of the home world is central to the kid’s story. It might be it’s not a home they want to go back to, if they discover something sinister was going on there.
I had little expectations for the show, but enjoyed it pretty well. The opening scene was the kicker, aside a bit of slow down in the first episode, both were good. More importantly my son (7) was really into the show, so hopefully they don't screw this up ....... Hopefully.
Strong Start? If you want to call the relative "quiet" of the fanbase from not second-guessing Lucasfilm for their choice of director and not having an idiot actor/actress saying things on the side trying to provoke a reaction, then yes, this would probably qualify in that regard. But this show still doesn't feel anything close to STAR WARS nor am I sold on it yet, regardless of how nostalgic it is and how much it retreads old material. I'm not sold yet, and not sure I'm going to watch anymore. It just seems like a harmless series that I won't remember, like that animated junior STAR WARS cartoon that they did that I never watched.
Seems a bit too fast for the pirates to come up with this elaborate plan to get information for the kids. I mean 5 mins ago they all thought the planet was made up, so it really makes no sense at all. And if Jod is really a force user is he just there hanging around waiting for his chance to trick some kids? And if he is not, him grabbing the key with the force would be a trick played by the pirates on the kids, which again is too elaborate and makes no sense, starting with the assumption that the kids in this era know what a jedi is (as established by Disney themselves) or give a crap about them. Having said all that, writers in these shows don't seem to let things making zero sense stop them from getting wherever they want, so I guess everything is possible. Tbh I am intrigued about the kids' home planet mystery and Jod's character (if he really is a force user and I really hope they don't try make him being the masked captn a big reveal, though I can't think any other reason why they'd have him masked 😅). I'd be pleasantly surprised if they manage to resolve these questions in a competent way, but I really doubt it given Disney LF's track record
People are saying it’s good but how many people are watching it? I feel like I barely hear anyone talking about it. It might get less viewers then the acolyte even. I am curious to see the numbers.
It's Star Wars for adults born in tbe 80's. Not everyone was born in the 80's. Not everyone watched the Goonies or E.T. Maybe Star Wars should be about Star Wars and not slice of life.
I'm a 90s baby and I loved it, because shockingly we and the 00s babies also grew up with Spielberg and an entire blockbuster franchise revolving around pirates....... Also with the popularity of Stranger Things amongst multiple generations, just because the vibe of a show is specific to a certain decade doesn't mean only people born in that decade will enjoy it. Also Star Wars has been exploring different subgenres ever since the EU days, and I find it odd that some fans seem to conveniently ignore this. For example Survivor's Quest is a straight-up mystery novel just set in the SW universe. It's not about the subgenre, it's about the execution, and adventure has always been a part of the franchise as technically the OT could be classified as a trilogy of adventure films in space. Most adventure stories start out with a slice of life segment before leaping into the action - this is literally what ANH does with Luke's storyline so the formula is no different here aside from the age of the main characters
These two episodes were absolutely leaps and bounds better than the entirety of The Acolyte

The mystery wasn't explained right away, score one for storytelling
He was probably just waiting for the right time, like new prisoners showing up in the brig with him who have their own ship to escape in
Yeah, my gf and I were thinking the same. She suggested that maybe he had a vision of the kids and knew he'd need to help
just like Benicio del Toro's character in The Last Jedi?

The barrier might be something like the space cancer surrounding that planet Palps was chilling in 😅
The mutiny was definitely planned - leaving one credit is such a clue.

I was shocked that they put a literal brothel in this "kids show".
I think that would go over most kids heads.
They did, but they didn't ever bring up what it is
I thought it was a strip joint
Aladin falls into a harem while running from city guards lol
If they knew it was a brothel, the parents likely don't care.

It was getting chilling.
I was a bit more hooked with these first two episodes than the majority of The Acolyte.

Mando S3 is overhated like Boba Fett is overhated.

What are the ratings like? I haven't heard
I think it’s too early to answer that.

The more you think about it, the more it really seems like a very interesting mystery is going on with this show
Funny how they didnt even market this as a mystery show, and its already way more interesting of a mystery than the show marketed as a "mystery" lmao
The subtitles did say “Old Republic credits” instead of “old Republic credits” so it could definitely be Old republic
With so much space travel, how do you hide a planet?

There was the ghost story of people being locked down underground to dig up gold mentioned.
It reminded me a lot of "Cloak and Dagger" from 1984 by Disney.
Interesting that this show has more mystery than the one (acolyte) that they billed as mystery
It's a mystery.
I had little expectations for the show, but enjoyed it pretty well. The opening scene was the kicker, aside a bit of slow down in the first episode, both were good. More importantly my son (7) was really into the show, so hopefully they don't screw this up ....... Hopefully.
Rey would have piloted the ship, fixed the droid, beaten up all the pirates and found her way back home at this age. 😂
Rey was on Jakku - a backwater planet so may not have heard as many stories as the kids in Skeleton Crew
I was just hoping that this show would be fun. So far it is to me.
Hope it's not a Hiiigh Republic tie-in, because I like it so far...
Doubtful since it takes place in the Mandoverse. There will likely be hints of High Republic representation in it like how Jedi Survivor did it.
