Sátántangó - Order and freedom (english subtitles)

This is a major scene from the 7-hours long motion picture Sátántangó, by Béla Tarr.
This scene shows up pretty early in the movie, and watching the entire movie until this point doesn't give us more information about the characters or their background than a TH-cam wanderer would have watching it here.

It's funny that Captain's speak sounds like he has an accent, but then you realize he's just drunk in fact. It's more than method acting. It's pure presence.

この場面良かったな　今後の展開を示唆してた　尾ひれはひれつくけどストーリーは単純　長いとも思わなかった　もう一度観たくなった

The Sisyphus myth would seem to express the opposition of order and freedom better than "Pericles". Captain could roll on the freebooters crushing them like bugs any moment he feels like it. A surprisingly introspective moment to be realized in cinema.
