But sometimes I think you want to appreciate the fact that such adjacent clothes look bad on her. She also knows that I don't like my figure, so sometimes I think he is doing it to spite me. YOU are the only thing holding YOU back. I have a BS in Psychology/Biology and a MEd. I worked in those fields and found them to be too limiting! Talk about being put inside a box. Oh, a teacher can’t dress like that, or while working in medicine, it’s so competitive that you have to be super conservative so your research work speaks for itself). Someone above you is just going to take your work and put their name on it anyway. I work for myself now. I don’t want to work for anyone else, in a large bureaucratic system, anyway. Your life is your own. You can do whatever you focus your mind on but you should really take the time to live fully as who you are. You will see it morph and change. Journal and reflect on your journal. Find common themes and really force yourself to learn about why you think a certain way. Or why you always respond a certain way. See a therapist or find an older person to do small chores for and pick their brains. Ask them anything and everything! Don’t take on student loan debt to prove that you are good enough. Having degrees isn’t the only way to get a job and times are changing fast. YOU are already good enough! Being yourself, really, truly knowing who you are and being comfortable in your skin for awhile is my best advice. This isn’t playing dress-up. This is self-expression, it’s a rebellion against systems meant to “keep us in our place(s).” My goal for my daughter is for her to be bold, live large and to never let fear get in her way. This gets to me. I’ve always wanted to dress alternative for so long, but i’m being held back by anxiety and family members. My two older sisters made fun of me for having one Pinterest board named “alt stuff” and they made fun of my spotify playlists. i just wanna dress the way i want to. but these people are holding me back. i don’t have money to buy alt clothing and accessories, and i just want one day to wear what i want. i want to wear the fishnets, platforms and gloves but i cant. the character i have created amongst my house hold is how i will forever stay because of my siblings. I just want to be me. I want to wear the eyeliner, my school is also very toxic. there really is no environment around me that i can wear what *I* want. not other people.
There's no place around you? Not even some people? wow. The people around you don't set what you should be though. Try to rebel slightly over time and maybe to improve your anxiety, try doing small things and see their reaction. I'm with you, I only know one person who is alt in my area (but they hate me bc they're transphobic) , and there is no specific shops. I'm a pastel goth styled guy (mainly), and I do have anxiety that people will make fun of me when I wear something I want (especially when I wear skirts or dresses). Just try your best in staying comfortable and remember that you will not always be with these people, and one day you will have your freedom

I love alt fashion and my mom lets me dress a little bit alt, but the thing is I really want to be more goth. She won’t let me dye my hair because she says it’ll look too dark on me, and won’t let me get a black lipstick and wear too much black because she’s says I’m too young. My whole family say they wouldn’t love me as much if I became a goth and told me to find other interests which upsets me when I’ve been into this for years.

you dont have to die your hair or wear black lipstick to be alt, a lot of my goth friends dont have dyed hair. You just do whatever makes you comfortable and being goth is the music more than the way you dress so keep that in mind

Just a reminder for all those who say "my parents wont let me dress like this" or "i dont have the courage to walk outside". for a lot of subcultures alt is the mindset more than the way you dress. thats not the case for all like lolitas is based on dressing, but goths and punks are based off of your mindset and the music you listen to so keep that in mind.

You can try the Lolita alt kinda style in the summer, (dress with corsets and garters etc.) and during the winter transition to the baggy clothes layering style. 👍

1:09 just felt like saying, two things that can help ur hair stay fluffy is to: 1. Dye it 2. Lots of layers Especially after dying my hair a couple times, i realized that it stayed fluffy WAY easier than before.
This is my style and I absolutely love it just sometimes wearing it out in public is scary, I get a lot of dirty looks and looks. I wore something before and this lady who was older was basically gagging because she saw me. It was embarrassing and it made me feel terrible but my mom tells me f them and be happy with yourself. It’s your body and personality not theirs. So in reality I’m writing this to let people know that you should be confident and not care what other people think!

From what I understand one has to be really careful with these types of shoes / boots because if you don't get in and out of them properly that is when they might get messed up. But I think if you know what you're doing it should be fine , don't know why newer ones would be easier to mess up than older ones but may be I am wrong and they are easy to mess up even if you are careful? I hope that's not true as I long to own at least one pair my self....😅🤷♀️
One time i ran out of my (alt) makeup so I went to school without makeup:( and there was a new girl in my advisory class so then we started talking ALOT for a few moths ( I didn’t have the money to by makeup) and then I got all of my makeup again. That day she got to school during lunch when I waved her over , she made a disgusted face at me and then went to sit with her GIRLFRIEND she never told me about , the next day I found out she had told everyone about my “ traumatic “ life experiences we got into a big fist fight after that and I was the one who got suspended in the end I was diagnosed with ptsd depression and anxiety but it got a lot better after some therapy I ❤️ these videos so much because I realize how many people there are like me 😙

1:16, if you have thick hair I recommend using a good quality brush to brush the sides and the back all the way up mainly for people with short hair. However people who have thinner hair might find this useful aswell cause thinner hair is harder to make fluffy using only water,
I would dress alt more often, but i dont have the time or the money for it, so it's an occasional thing for me. I mostly just wear black leggins with black oversized hoodies lol
honestly, a lot of it is DIY. yeah, it’s freaking expensive. But take for example, just a pair of normal black shorts, add some safety pins and lightweight chains to it, it’s alt, be creative, it’s not all about just buying it, it’s your experience with it too!

I’ve always wanted to dress alternative for so long, but i’m being held back by anxiety and family members. My two older sisters made fun of me for having one Pinterest board named “alt stuff” and they made fun of my spotify playlists. i just wanna dress the way i want to. but these people are holding me back. i don’t have money to buy alt clothing and accessories, and i just want one day to wear what i want. i want to wear the fishnets, platforms and gloves but i cant. the character i have created amongst my house hold is how i will forever stay because of my siblings. I just want to be me. I want to wear the eyeliner, my school is also very toxic. there really is no environment around me that i can wear what *I* want. not other people.
There's no place around you? Not even some people? wow. The people around you don't set what you should be though. Try to rebel slightly over time and maybe to improve your anxiety, try doing small things and see their reaction. I'm with you, I only know one person who is alt in my area (but they hate me bc they're transphobic) , and there is no specific shops. I'm a pastel goth styled guy (mainly), and I do have anxiety that people will make fun of me when I wear something I want (especially when I wear skirts or dresses). Just try your best in staying comfortable and remember that you will not always be with these people, and one day you will have your freedom

I love alt fashion and my mom lets me dress a little bit alt, but the thing is I really want to be more goth. She won’t let me dye my hair because she says it’ll look too dark on me, and won’t let me get a black lipstick and wear too much black because she’s says I’m too young. My whole family say they wouldn’t love me as much if I became a goth and told me to find other interests which upsets me when I’ve been into this for years.
Hey, sorry to hear that. :( It really sucks when people try to control others, ESPECIALLY when it comes to self expression. If people say they'll love you less because of your personal interests, that's their problem. Someday you'll be able to wear what ever you want, so until then hang in there. Much love.
you dont have to die your hair or wear black lipstick to be alt, a lot of my goth friends dont have dyed hair. You just do whatever makes you comfortable and being goth is the music more than the way you dress so keep that in mind

Just a reminder for all those who say "my parents wont let me dress like this" or "i dont have the courage to walk outside". for a lot of subcultures alt is the mindset more than the way you dress. thats not the case for all like lolitas is based on dressing, but goths and punks are based off of your mindset and the music you listen to so keep that in mind.

You can try the Lolita alt kinda style in the summer, (dress with corsets and garters etc.) and during the winter transition to the baggy clothes layering style. 👍

This is my style and I absolutely love it just sometimes wearing it out in public is scary, I get a lot of dirty looks and looks. I wore something before and this lady who was older was basically gagging because she saw me. It was embarrassing and it made me feel terrible but my mom tells me f them and be happy with yourself. It’s your body and personality not theirs.

From what I understand one has to be really careful with these types of shoes / boots because if you don't get in and out of them properly that is when they might get messed up. But I think if you know what you're doing it should be fine , don't know why newer ones would be easier to mess up than older ones but may be I am wrong and they are easy to mess up even if you are careful? I hope that's not true as I long to own at least one pair my self....😅🤷♀️
One time i ran out of my (alt) makeup so I went to school without makeup:( and there was a new girl in my advisory class so then we started talking ALOT for a few moths ( I didn’t have the money to by makeup) and then I got all of my makeup again. That day she got to school during lunch when I waved her over , she made a disgusted face at me and then went to sit with her GIRLFRIEND she never told me about , the next day I found out she had told everyone about my “ traumatic “ life experiences we got into a big fist fight after that and I was the one who got suspended in the end I was diagnosed with ptsd depression and anxiety but it got a lot better after some therapy I ❤️ these videos so much because I realize how many people there are like me 😙

1:16, if you have thick hair I recommend using a good quality brush to brush the sides and the back all the way up mainly for people with short hair.
However people who have thinner hair might find this useful aswell cause thinner hair is harder to make fluffy using only water,

honestly, a lot of it is DIY. yeah, it’s freaking expensive. But take for example, just a pair of normal black shorts, add some safety pins and lightweight chains to it, it’s alt, be creative, it’s not all about just buying it, it’s your experience with it too!
