I'm with you on those seats, Matt. There's a time and place for electronic creature comforts, and I can't say I'm ever excited to see them end up in a Jeep. I want my Jeep to be bulletproof and ready to take me anywhere and do anything. If a creature comfort means I have to compromise on that first part, then I don't want it.
Maybe I'm being a bit over-the-top, but I kinda have this "make Rubicon Rubicon again" feeling towards Jeeps lately. The Rubicon used to be THE Jeep to get, because it was the most capable trim you could get from the factory. Now the phrase "base Rubicon" isn't even an oxymoron. A base Rubicon really isn't anything special anymore considering there's a Rubicon 4xE, Rubicon 392, Rubicon X, Rubicon 20th Anniversary, and probably more to come. They've spent so much time and money making all these trims that don't actually add any capability to the Rubiconness of the Jeep, per se (one could argue that the 392 adds capability, but that's pretty specific).
Why is a 2024 Rubicon not more capable than a 2018 Rubicon? It really should be.

Thanks for the vid Matt. Weird that Jeep is not offering the xtreme recon 35's on as an option right now on the regular Rubicon on their website. But dealers have Rubi's (not Rubi X) sitting on their lots with the xtreme recon package.

They may have already been working in the “extra” sound deadening (at least from my experience with my 392) since ‘23. I noticed there was noticeably more expanding foam around the windshield and inside the front half of the sport bar compared to the ‘22 XR Rubi I had prior. The windshield glass also mentions that it is acoustic glass which I didn’t notice on my ‘22 but I had Gorilla Glass optioned on that one.
IIRC ‘24’s with the more premium interiors were also supposed to have thicker carpets and/or potentially some sound deadening under them.

Just purchased a 2door Rubicon X. 6spd with all available options (which isn't much) but definitely got 4.88 gears as the first upgrade was 35's.
Rubicon X is too expensive. I personally think the Willys is the new sweet spot for the Wrangler. Rear locker, front and rear Dana 44s, high clearance fender flares. Can add 37s with a small spacer lift, just regear and off you go. A lift, rear locker and 37s on 4.56 or 4.88s is going to be enough off road capability for 99.9% of jeep buyers. Most people aren't buying them to do extreme rock crawling, and if they are, they're mostly buying ten year old JKs and doing one ton axle swaps and Hemi swaps and the like. Sure, _some_ people will buy a new JL and build it crazy - Lite Brite bought a 392 and then had America's Most Wanted 4x4 do a crazy build - but those are extreme outliers. Most people will take their jeep on a 3, 4, or 5 rated trail and just have fun. Most aren't wanting to take their brand new $80k+ vehicle on a 7 or 8 rated trail and risk breaking something or body damage.

I really like the UCconnect5 but a few questions. Can you get power seats in the cloth interior? The leather would be smoking hot in the summer.
Did they really kill the manual with the 6 cylinder?
Did they fix the paint quality issues on the hinges vs doors? Steel vs aluminum? For the amount of money we need to hold them accountable to a higher build quality.
I love my JLU, 6 cylinder, 6speed but given the options and pricing, I’ll keep my Mojito Green 2019 and start modifying more heavily after seeing the ‘24’s, options and pricing.
6 speed is still available, think there are some more fixes for the corrosion on the 24
Hey Matt, helpful as always. I would like to know one thing in reference to the 3.6L V6 engine in the Rubicon. Everything I've seen from Jeep tells me that in the Rubicon, the 3.6L is the standard 3.6L with either the manual or automatic transmission. The eTorque is gone for 2024. From what I understand, to get the 5000 lb. towing capacity with the full float axle, the vehicle needs a straight internal combustion engine (ICE) due to weight. The standard ICE engines are lighter than the eTorque or 4xe counterparts. The extra towing capacity the free float axle affords cannot be reached with the electrified models because of the extra weight of the batteries and additional cooling components. Can you verify that? No one really seems to be talking about it.

Thank you for doing this video! I have just sold my JK and I’m about ready to place an order for mine. I haven’t seen anybody doing this type of video on the Rubicon X, which is what I’m looking at.
I think the headliners also come standard with a Rubicon X. The ones that are inside the freedom panels and in the back.
Maybe the seat memories are tied in to each key fob. My BMW used to be like that.

Going in on Thursday to get 4.88 gears in my 2023 high velocity yellow with 315/70r17. With the 3.6. Here in Utah those size tires my jeep down shifts to 3,4 gear going down the highway scary when you are pegged out redlining.

it was absolutely a huge critical mistake that jeep stopped the diesel option on wrangler. it was soo sad and absolutely heart-breaking. (thanks God it is still available for gladiator)

When the front or rear camera are on and the screen is split with the Jeep logo on the right, there would be enough room to have both front and rear cameras on at the same time. That would be slick on a tight trail.

The rear window wiper is almost useless with the big tire covering most of the glass. Being able to raise and lower the driver's seat is nice. A flat bottom steering wheel would give you more leg clearance. Overall, a great Jeep Wrangler. Thanks for the review.

I have the 2022 Rubicon I thinking of installing the Mopar 2.5 inch lift kit but seeing this I know it higher than the standard suspension of the Rubicon

I was told by the dealer that the rubi x comes standard with the extreme wheel package. I tried to order one & didn't want the extreme wheel package & had to order just the rubicon

I have owned and driven some type of Jeep since close to 1980. I have had a CJ, YJ TJ a Grand Wagoneer, a baby Wagoneer , four 2 door JK’s, and 2 unlimited wranglers and my most recent purchase in 2023 was a Gladiator. But that is it! Jeep has lost its way. I can build a Bronco built similar to New Wrangler for a lot less money. Jeep, in my opinion is trying to be a Land Rover. At least in the pricing category. Do your research. Look at the percent of increase in sticker price over the last 10 years and compare that to other brands.
The 2.0 liter is still on jeeps website.. only with an auto trans. They are still available in both rubicon and rubicon X models. I like this engine because it's only 10 less hp and more torque than the v6 and better gas mileage. That turns into a longer range. Also less weight which is always a factor on Jeeps.
There's a lot of things on the website that need updating. They still show the 23 but you can no longer order one. I tried and it was denied. And no, they no longer offer the 2.0

The manual transmission will be available exclusively with the 3.6-liter V-6,” said the Jeep statement." I've found gear patrol also saying the same.. This is the only guy saying this. where are you seeing this isn't offered anymore?
@@karenkroppa3499 mopar insider is saying "While there won’t be any new powertrain options, the Pentastar V6, turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four-cylinder, and the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain with the turbocharged 2.0-liter will all be returning. " everything I find dated to april 5th this year says the same. Many articles don't have a date. I've yet to find any that says it's not available. I would think Mopar Insider would be the first to release it. Let me know if you have a site.

Bro! I looked at a 24 and I'm not sold, so I snagged a loaded 23 Rubicon with the Xtreme Recon and almost every other option available. It feels like I'm driving a tank now😂

I was under the impression that the Rubicon X was coming standard with the Extreme Recon package and 35’s. Boy that’s a huge disappointment. So I’m not really sure what the advantage of this is for the prices that Jeep is fetching on these. Trimmed out you’re well over $70k. I traded my ‘21 Rubicon in for a Bronco WildTrak. Glad I didn’t wait on the X. Outside of not having the disconnecting sway bar, the WildTrak (or even Badlands) is a much better priced package and will do 95% of what a Wrangler will do off-road. And come with a factory lift and 35’s standard.

Yes Sir, your first thumbs up, color match does not look good in all color patterns. In its defense, fender-wise it won't fade with age.

It is now called the extreme 35 package. I believe they stopped calling it The extreme 2:20 recon because jeep has an all-electric vehicle named recon coming later this year. The extreme 35 is part of the Rubicon X package if you get an automatic transmission. You cannot get the extreme 35 package on a manual transmission Rubicon X or the 4xe Rubicon X.

I think it may be a temporary restriction for assembly. I ordered a 3.6 Auto RubiconX way back in March when it started and haven’t been built yet. On the forums there’s a HUGE number of us that all have pending orders with the 3.6 while 2.0L are flying off the assembly line. I wonder if there’s a temporary shift to crank out a bunch of the 3.6 and then resume. I’m sure it’s just a temporary restriction…
@@andrewn3618 Sounds like that could be it, but if they allowed 3.6 orders prior to production, why would they not allow 2.0 orders just because they aren't currently being produced? I'm hoping there will be rebates once inventory overflows the dealer lots...

It raised up up equally, but with power seats you can raise the front or back of the seat independently to get a different tilt angle

Do you like that new grill?....something to look a little different than your old Jeep....you won't get it with the sport. 2024 Jeep= COMPROMISE.....It's the corporate greed model.

No I want a a diesel engine cloth seats, locking diffs front and rear, and a bumpers and the hardtop clor matched. Jeep needs to bring back the diesel for folks who dont want a mall rated Jeep. Dont need the so called hemi.
