    Thanks for doing these tutorials.. I'm about to by my shopping list (Radiomaster T16S to Bixler 3) - first fixed wing, so want a flight controller and GPS to save me!

    Thanks man. This is the first time I've ever seen inside iNav. This series is going to be interesting. I'd love to see this implemented on a quad copter in the future :)

    I am just about to setup something like that. Have an old Bixler laying around. Will follow your series and build it with the exact same components except motor, ESC and prop as this is already in my Bixler for some years now.

      @@Painless360 thanks. For me it is a restart into the hobby. Did a lot of builds years ago with mainly Ardupilot starting with APM1.0 Up to APM 2.5. Now I built some copters with the new FCs and Betaflight. This will be my first fixed wing in the new era. Will be fun to give the old Bixler a new brain.😀

    Fantastic, Lee! The series is going to help me a lot! 😃
    Just one question... From what you said, when you build an airplane with iNav you can't use Y cables? (I mean, if you want stabilization on roll?)

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can, but you'll need two servos for stabilised roll (the default servo table when you load a traditional air plane layout). I have a Y cable so it's not needed.. Hope that makes sense.

  • @dmytropashko8209

    Hello!
    Could you please tell me the difference between iNav and ArduPilot. Both of them could run on same hardware and possibly to fly autonomous.
    But what the difference?

      I also like to know, and can this board be used with pixhawk autopilot?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      th-cam.com/video/SkURV9H84QE/w-d-xo.html should help for now. I've had this question a few times in the last month or two so I'll be making an updated video just for fixed wing..

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As you are one of the people who asked - here is a preview of that new video th-cam.com/video/te4D_fjBVfM/w-d-xo.html Ardupilot runs on lots of boards but the Radix uses BrainFPV proprietary code for the OSD that helps defeat the cloners so it only runs the modified code created by BrainFPV. Interestingly this approach to use proprietary code on hardware to defeat the clone market is appearing in other flight control boards too.. boards without this extra tweak are the ones that Ardupilot is supporting - i.e. ardupilot.org/copter/docs/common-omnibusf4pro.html

  • @joenaylor34
    @joenaylor34 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Going to try to follow this as my first flight controller install. I have been flying fixed wing planes for decades but don't have any flight controller or drone experience so a lot of this is still new to me. Got INAV Configurator running on Win 10 computer but when I plug in the Radix I get the message "failed to open serial port" and I am stuck at this point.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be a few things.bad USB cable, driver issue.. what troubleshooting have you already tried?

    • @joenaylor34
      @joenaylor34 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      A blue light is flashing on the Radix when connected to the computer (is this good or bad?) and not sure if I am to have the Radix powered from a Lipo connected to the power board or not while plugged into the USB, but it doesn't seem to make any difference anyhow. The Brainfpv website points to the following for help www.dronetrest.com/t/fix-any-stm32-dfu-drivers-issues-when-flashing-betaflight-cleanflight-firmware/3603/12. I tried running the ImpulseRC Driver Fixer Tool but it doesn't do anything. Tried to select the driver manually but I don't have any "Universal Serial Bus Devices" or "STM32 Bootloader" in my Device Manager. I am running the latest version of Win 10 on a Microsoft Surface Pro. Who knew you had to be a computer wiz to fly a model plane? How times have changed!

    • @joenaylor34
      @joenaylor34 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Note that Brainfpv website suggests entering DFU Mode Manually (whatever that means) in this page about using Betaflight. As you can see I am completely confused about all of this. www.brainfpv.com/knowledgebase/betaflight-quick-start-guide/

    • @joenaylor34
      @joenaylor34 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      CANCEL THE COMMENTS! I changed a lot of things including the cable and now it connects. Not sure exactly what did it but the cable was suspect. Odd that some cables work and some don't. Also, evidently the blue flashing light means something good.

    • @joenaylor34
      @joenaylor34 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Next problem: Video 7:59 When I run Zadig and List all Devices I don't get STM32 Bootloader as a choice. Brainfpv Radix is listed but if I choose that and reinstall driver nothing good happens.

    That Wing PDB from Radix is one of the most overpriced things i've seen lately. I can happily pay 50$ for that FC (in fact i did and its great innovation and value) but paying 25$ for a piece of pcb that is a regular pcb with a voltage regulator and simple power meter ? you can get a matek f411 wing for not much more.
