    your first issue was using KPMF. its a cheap vinyl and not worth the money. If you went for 3M or Avery it would have been a breeze. Also near cut on the vehicle with a scalpel

      Should use knifing tape, NEVER CUT ON THE VEHICLE 😱

    The trick with that stuff is warmth, make sure it is warm before you start and keep the hair dryer handy for the awkward sections

      Yes i think we need more use of heat.

    I like the partial carbon fiber, exposing front of hood.

    By his own admission Yanni can’t vinyl wrap at all, he employs people to do that. He just owns the business.
    I think it looks better with the shorter version.

    • @L663
      @L663  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi - I guess that is why he is more successful than me !... that and he is better looking and way more entertaining !
      I was not sure the shorter one would do the job but it works pretty well overall and its much easier to do.

    Simon...my thoughts... Clay Barring...use much more lubricant and only rub the clay gently and slowly in straight lines feeling the clay release the paint contaminates...rubbing in circles causes swirl marks. The vinyl...going by the wrap application I see at Topaz, maybe yours was just a tad too thick and they always use wet application so almost slide the vinyl on then squeegee it out and smooth it flowing with the curves..the thinner stuff sees to accept and mould much more easily. Yes you should sell it, the shorter version looks better and saves the bother with the lettering...also would letters stick to the vinyl as easily as on paint? I’m still hoping for a bonnet airbag covering on the D/Sport!! Brave work men...now get Tylor to watch a few Yannimse films...only don’t tell him how much they charge as it will give him ideas!!! Stay safe..Richard😃😃😃😃😃😃

      Hi Richard - I must say how impressed I am that you are upto date with all these new TH-camrs like Yanni - younge George introduced me to Yanni's videos and we love watching them together.... of course Yanni is way cooler a dad than me... kids !
      I was nervous with the whole wet apply as this was an air release film but I may have a 2nd attempt at this with a tinner gloss vinyl - cut to size - and wet apply.
      Thanks for the prep advice...
      We keep looking for an easy repair Disco Sport on copart.co.uk.... let me know if you see one !

      @@L663 Simon...I watch too many! Have to dash right now but will find some done by Topaz who have a workshop at Aztec West, Bristol and in London. I have watched a number of them and was surprised how wrinkled the film was they lay it on any surface but they spray loads of water/slip and rely on the shaper/smoother blade to sort everything out. It seems to work on even complex shapes. One is Tim Burton (“SCHMEE150”) who had his McLaren Senna wrapped and that is a nightmare of complex curves. I will find the link and send it to you which you might find interesting! Next stop..15 litres of emulsion paint to get on a ceiling..great!! Richard😃😃😃😃

    Much prefer the inset version for both retaining the lettering and ease of installation. I would like to see you boys offer this for we L320 owners also. The front of my hood has a clear film protective cover that I won't remove but have wanted a wrap for some time. I appreciate you keeping in the difficult bits you had as I am certain we all would run into those ourselves.

    Looks good enhances front end. In my humble opinion I think you should now look at wet carbon transfer dip finish the silver alloy wheels to compliment the bonnet now. Thanks for the content. Eagerly await every video release. Just awaiting some LRDS content now 🤔😉

    Very brave attempt Simon, personally I liked the full edged version and maybe a little wider. What about a gloss black to match the grill?? I failed badly trying to wrap my white RR roof in black gloss, with cheap wrap. It’s an art and you’re mastering it. Well done

    • @L663
      @L663  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think we will go a little wider / shorter at the front / gloss finish and wet apply on V2 !

  • @matthewginman9240

    Personally I think it would look better if it were a bit wider to follow the contours on the bonnet and line up with the inner corner of the headlights at the front, and a gloss carbon would match the gloss black on the bumper and vents better. That being said cracking first attempt and no doubt everyone will have a different opinion!

    • @L663
      @L663  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Matthew I think I agree with you on these points... yes a gloss carbon would match the other carbon on the car and slightly wider.

  • @Sia-pu9rv

    You need to use more heat gun and the stretch the vinyl while laying it down and you should’ve use the gloss carbon fibre. And use the cutting tape on the bonnet for the edges so u can lay the bonnet and the cut it for a flawless finish

    Wouldn't a soapy spray bottle help? Then take all the backing off and slide it in to place, then squidge down.. That's what I've done in the past, then over it all with the heat. Good effect tho, thinking about doing my D4...

    • @L663

      I must admit the wet apply films seem to work better ( easier for a novice like me to apply )
