Baylee! This illustration shows you have really improved upon your art! She has such a cool pose and the fact the net isnt totally straight makes it seem alive. Awesome job.
I think your art has been looking better and better lately!! I really REALLY love how you’re trying to step out of your comfort zone!! It’s so much more appealing for me
The art was so cute and she looked so dynamic and fluid with the foreshortening and the bendiness of the net pole!! The bugs were also adorable, this illustration is definitively a fave!!
I love that you were confident enough to point out how you'd do things differently without dragging yourself down. Nothing hurts and infuriates me more then when TH-cam artists spend the whole time bashing on their artwork.
Your handmade looooong marker reminded me of those colored pencils as a kit that would stack in a barrel and you have to push each one through individually to get to a color you wanted, haha.
Firstly, I want to say that the movement of your art really improved. I didn't technically think your art was stiff in the first place, but this illustrations shows that you really made an effort to make it not stiff and the color choices were cute. I'm kind happy that it wasn't as light as you were going for because the darker colors are really great. Overall, this is good content, thank you Baylee.
I have the Spectrum Noir Coloring System set (black barrel with 200+ markers) and the ends come off of a few of those like you experienced. I have one or two that it happens *every* time. Still I love them. I think it would be neat if we could get these 3-in-1 empty and fill with our own color choices or have them made to order. Adding: They have some not included in this set, but they aren't available at the moment. Last year on HSN some folks got a deal to have them shipped 4x's a year.
I grabbed a few of these from hobby lobby back in May to try out, cause I love trying new supplies. I didn't have any issues with the tips off the market coming off with the cap so maybe just a defect in your batch unfortunately. I actually liked the barrel and shape of the marker although coloring with it full length is wonky. I liked the colors themselves and it felt smooth to color with, but I totally agree about the lack of color difference in the 3 markers. They are very similar which made it difficult for my shadows to even stand out. Also, the ink isn't going to last long and you will definitely need to keep refilling if you use them regularly because in just 1 full page mermaid drawing, I could feel a the two main colors I was using running low and getting streaky which is disappointing. But there's only so much ink they can hold in those markers. If you look at the barrel of each section of one marker, you'll notice the ink chamber is only half the size of the barrel because there has to be room for it to cap another marker. I would love to try some regular spectrum noir markers though. Glad to finally see a review on these! Love your drawing baylee and the way you colored in the hair was so cool! Keep it up
*MUST READ!* *The lightest part of the marker has more ink because you cover the whole thing first with the lightest marker and then you put the other ones over which don't need that much ink...*
I just got three of these in this month's Scrawlrbox and I think they're pretty good. Yeah there are a few issues (individual plastic wrapping 🤬, not a fan of the size and shape as I have tiny hands, that SQUEAK!😂 etc) but I really like the fact that the markers are three shades of the same colour and tone (or as you said: 3 markers of the same colour 😂). For me, one of the real difficulties with blending in markers is finding 3 shades similar enough to use for your blend. While grabbing a light, medium and dark red to do a red blend in most packs/ranges of markers there will be 3 similar colours but not 3 of exactly the same colour only light/med/dark. For example one may have a slightly more blue undertone where another is more pink or orange based so while they blend well, they don't have that completely seamless look that you get with 3 gradients of the same colour. (Really hope that made sense 😂) Technically you can achieve the same kind of results by diluting a marker with a little rubbing alcohol for a mid tone and slightly more rubbing alcohol for the light tone but then you have to deal with issues of translucency. With markers the goal is that flat, pigmented colour with a seamless gradient from light to dark to add depth and definition. These Triblend pens are a great way to achieve that goal.
I'm used to hearing squeaky markers on TH-cam, even though I don't experience it myself (even with the same markers and I'm quite heavy handed), but these were really squeaky. Wow.
I’d love to see you recolor this digitally as well as with your copic markers or whatever they’re called. Just to see what you come up with and the range of colors and shades you may add. ☺️ It’s such a cute drawing. I love the little bugs, for some reason they’re my favorite part of it? Lol!!
As someone who started with these (The regular Spectrum Noir) markers, I can say that once my 200+ marker set finally runs out (Had them since 2015) I don't think I'm going to use them again, especially since the refills are not available in the UK, to my knowledge at least. And you are right about the hand cramps, I thought they were normal, good to know it's not my hand and it's actually the markers. (Doesn't help that my hands are smaller than average, and these markers are massive.) Your illustration is so good, btw! I love the colours and the Pokemon inspiration (huge Pokemon fan!) This illustration actually made me want to draw, so thanks for the inspiration and motivation! :D
This month's sketchbox came with the green trio marker. It also had 2 copic markers and some other things. I was just a bit disappointed because the copic markers I received were duplicates of what I have. I found the trio marker hard to uncap at first. You did a wonderful job on your picture. I love it! Thank you for sharing.
I got one of these triblend markers in my art subscription box this month. I found your video, tried mine out, and purchased the whole set. Thank you for the demo and review!!
This is kind of a weird compliment but i love how u colored her legs hahaha they look really nice. And I looove the drawing, it ended up looking so cute ♡
I agree with the color of the legs and the saturation of the hair. Otherwise I love the vibrancy and color choice of this piece. Plus I, too, love the linework.
This illustration is really cool! I like how it looks like there is movement in her body. Even with a limited color pallet you did an amazing job on this!

Baylee, you mentioned before that you felt your art was very stiff, I have to say, you really managed to break away from that with this piece. The pose, flow of the hair, and especially the foreshortening (particularly the slight exaggerated curve in the butterfly net) really gives this a lively flow! Nice job!
I bought these when they first came out on HSN and I was then able to sign up for auto shipment. What this means is that four times throughout the year, I get 6 more markers (so 18 more colors) four times throughout this year. I already received two of the shipments and will be receiving the other two packs later this year. So I will have a total of 48 markers rather than just the 24 (for a total of 144 colors). So the colors that you mentioned were missing, like the light colors and dark colors, are included in these extra sets. I don’t believe at this time, you can get these additional packs. That might change in the future?
I can't help but think about those overalls every time you say overall 😂 like for example in the end when you review the picture, my brain just takes note on every time you said overall. Well, overall this was a really good video☺️ thanks for the good work again!

How much plastic should be on these markers?

There are pros and cons, but it's kinda a safety seal on food. But for markers, just to insure that no one tests it.
