    I have been playing around with "my, his, yours , theirs, ours" in swahili just trying other options for simple sentences. Why are there so many forms of these?

      You are right sir✅️
      Ahsante kwa kuuliza
      Thanks for asking
      Swahili language has verities of words portraying the same thing,
      You don't need to get confused with lots of sentences I tried to makeon that video,
      What is needed is to know how to say something that actually reveals a certain action to be taken/happen in future
      Moreover, you need to also know if the sentence speaks about yourself, someone else,
      Lastly, the number of people you are referring

      Eg,
      I will go
      I will indicates "nita "
      It also indicates that, you are talking about yourself
      He will -ata
      Ata-referring someone
      He will -go
      Ata-enda

      Hi, mwalimu Kidaha and fellow Swahili learner. Unlike English, Swahili nouns are classified into noun classes. That determines pretty much everything grammatical concerning a given noun: conjugation, adjective declension, demonstratives, possessives, numbers, relatives, etc. That explains why the word for “my”, or any other possessive, changes:
      Jina langu (JI/MA class-singular), majina yetu (JI/MA class-plural);
      kitabu changu (KI/VI class-sing), vitabu vyangu (KI/VI class-pl);
      mpira wangu (M/MI class-sing), mipira yangu (M/MI class-pl)
      Etc, etc.
      I hope that helps. Have a nice day.
