  • 1 rule is keep your hands/hand movements clean and simple.
    - Keep both hands on the wheel (shifts or Ebrake should be fast and then hands back on the wheel. Do not "get ready" by moving your hand to the shifter or E-brake early.
    - Do not let your hands cross on the wheel (your arms should NEVER be crossed). Slide the steering wheel smoothly between hands do not reach over your other hand to make a correction.

Number 1 mistake is... not practicing enough! I can't extend how much having "hours of flight" is the most important thing. The skills and mods will eventually arrive, don't worry, but for now you need more seat time.

Too much handbrake? Or driving with one hand? What is number 1

Keeping both hands on the wheel and neither hand should ever pass 12:00 let the wheel slide between/through your hands. (Learn how the car wants to self steer)
When you do need to Ebrake or shift remove 1 hand to do so but only remove it long enough to pull the ebrake or shifter.
Do not leave 1 hand in the shifter or ebrake (getting ready) both hands on wheel and only take your hand off for as short a time as possible.
**Forrest Wang gave me these pointers some 15 years ago and they made more difference than I could have imagined.

I noticed that he seemed a little hesitant to give it more throttle which is what seems like he needed to get more angle out of the drifts he was doing. Also, just loosen up and have fun with it. Like you said in that comment below, let the car self steer more. Just experiment/play with how much angle it can handle before oversteering. Every car and setup is different. Plus at those speeds, a little spinout won't hurt ya. Time and practice helps overall, but working on technique definitely makes a difference. I don't know, thats my 2 cents lol

If your Carl Thompson entering long broad turns at like 130+ then yeah a spinout might be a little different, but at a little loop area like that you'll be fine :)

handbrake entries and the 1 handed bullshit is the problem

Wooo those errors make you mad ;)
Can’t wait to see how this driver does this season. He’s come a long way in a short time and picked up a decent amount of seat time last year.

@@tunermt I'm just saying, best way to learn is avoid the handbrake and keep both hands on the wheel, but I'm definitely glad the driver is improving and wish him nothing but the best

try to use less of the handbrake! your future self will thank me. bad habit to grab it when you start to straighten, put ya foot to the floor and let that 1j eat! in all seriousness, less handbrake and work on the hand movements
