This Grand Palace is newer than the others in Asia as you said. But the palaces in Burma, Laos, Cambodia are new replicas because there is no original left. The monarchy was overthrown when those countries became colonies of the western nations. Even Korea. So this palace is the original where the king actually lived and is still used for royal ceremonies. The reason it is new is because the current monarchy was founded around 1782. Because the older kingdom is the Ayutthaya Kingdom which is now a world heritage site. That kingdom destroyed the entire city including the older palace. Nowadays, you can still visit there but only the remains of civilization remain. The people who gathered the remaining Thais founded a new kingdom on the opposite side of this palace across the river. But at that time, the country had to be reunited so no official palace was built there. When the situation improved, the capital was moved to the current Bangkok by crossing the river here.😊
And the bricks used in the construction of the Grand Palace date back to the Ayutthaya period because they were old items brought by boat from the river.😊
Durian is a Malay word, it derives from duri means thorn, durian means lots of thorn. Similar to rambutan a Malay word derives from rambut means hair, rambutan means lots of hair.
Thank you so much, Bangkok is such a fun place to explore! And that makes sense, we first tried durian in Malaysia but wanted to give it another try haha
@WanderlustWellman Haha. Durian is a controversial fruit, but it's also quite nice with sticky rice and coconut milk. What was the highlight of your trip in Bangkok, mine from 1997 was the river cruise, manoeuvring through the canals. Your apartment looked quite nice, the price is similar to KL, but the price of staying in luxurious apartment has gone up over the last few years. 😀
4:04 This Grand palace ticket can use for watching the "Khon" performance for free. At the exit door, they have a free shuttle car waiting to take you to the Grand theater.
I saw your video about first impression in bangkok. Thailand. The city of bangkok are lots of beautiful places. Even temples, grand palace, highest building skyscrapers. And fancy malls.... God bless to your trip.. ☺️
If you prefer winter season in Thailand, you better travel to the north such as, Changmai 28/17°c, Chang Rai or Pai ,etc then going up to the mountain.😊 Enjoy your hoiliday in Thailand🎉

Love all of Thailand but my Fiancée and I stayed in BKK for two weeks and we did a bit of outdoor exercise and we ended up getting pollution poisoning, it was one of this sickest I've ever been.
In the West, dust stays in homes and living spaces. No need to go outside because after cleaning the house for 2 days, the living space is full of dust.😢
Wow. That sounds awful, getting sick while enjoying with your travel. Sickness from pollution, that reminded of my experience immersing living and working in Mumbai. I got sick for the first six months, almost daily vomiting and irritable bowel syndrome, weaken my body system. After 3 years, I came back to KL with a depression.
In year 2024 there"re 35.6 million tourists visited Thailand and we hope that in year 2025 the number of tourists visiting Thailand will go through 40 millions.
If you want to take the public bus in BKK you have to go fast show any sigh don't hesitate because they aren't waiting for you. And even you get in the bus you should walk inside quickly before the door will close and take off so rapidly.
