Joba Banerjee an ace singer of Tagore songs of modern times, finds her roots in Jamshedpur, her early initiation to the songs of Tagore was from legendary singer Late Subinoy Roy, in Sabuj Sangha - then TELCO now Tata Motors. Her training continued under Late Shri S K Deb from Kolkata, who later became the resident mentor for her training in Rabindrasangeet at Jamshedpur.
With training from guru Late Shri S K Deb, Joba excelled in singing and was well acclaimed by audiences of Jamshedpur, and Kolkata. Joba has performed in numerous stage performances.
With the passage of time, Joba excelled in academics and moved to Bombay, after tying the knot. In Mumbai, she pursued her passion for Rabindrasangeet, through various stage programs and organising Rabindra Jayanti along with her full-time profession in academics.
In the year 1992, she moved to Muscat, Oman and briefly stayed till 1998, during her stay she won the heart of Bengali’s living there by performing regularly in events organised by Bengali Association. During her stay in Muscat, she took training in Ghazal and Bhajan.
