Chris nails this one. At first glance there seems to be too many rules...but the play is super smooth. Each turn you have 3 choices...and no fringe cases...since the first game I've never needed to reconsult the rule book. Thanks DT!
Great discussion. I have to say all the things discussed as challenges and limitations imposed by the game mechanisms make this very appealing to me. I was afraid this would be too breezy.

I'm always putting gameplay over looks if I have to. However, Targi is one of the ugliest looking games and the main reason why I don't like to play it.

I eaten very good bread and I especially hate it. Because it tends to make me fat :)
To be fair, the DT crew lives in the US. I love a lot of American foods, but their bread is NOT one of them. The first time I visited and bought a loaf of bread from the grocery store to make sandwiches in the hotel, I took one bite and thought "wait did I buy bread or cake"
I like what Chris is saying - a lot of what were seen as negatives by others are the tensions of the game. Make low value beer/bread or high value? The latter requires a little more planning. The tension between what cards to pick, particularly depending on the year, is a fantastic. Upgrade or not, and when, etc. These are all a lot of fun. I do agree that the end game can fizzle, but just a little, because either you planned or you didn’t. Hint: plan.
The game needs to be played over 8 rounds I'd say to show it's full potential. It offers so much to think about and so many upgrades to your engine, but by the time you're fully set, the game is over. Reshuffling the discard pile and adding a round or two would feel better imo.
I'm once again at odds with Wendy in that the Kosmos 2 player line was one of my favorites to go through and explore. It was up there with the Gipf series for me.
I don't like beer much, but I love baking bread and homemade bread is 1000x more delicious than anything storebought...including the "bakery fresh same day" bread.
Just no comparison.
Zee and Tom were mentioning how the game reminded them of Kosmos two player games. Are they any similar older Kosmos games you would recommend over this game?

I'm with Chris on this one. Fantastic game. "Too many rules" says the guy who plays Arkham Horror lcg. LOL Yes I know he meant too many rules for this weight or style or whatever I just thought that was funny.
It's weird, I didn't think there were too many rules at all. I've played it with two different people and each game was pretty smooth and we didn't need to look up any rules.
Can’t wait to play this one. A fair share of 2 player only games are not necessarily very meaty and it’s good to have one that has a bit more to it.
I absolutely love this game. But I would agree the end game can fall a bit flat

I wish all dice tower review videos would unify graphics. I just noticed how this video's score graphic is different from marvel zombicide review's score graphic. Z's videos have their own graphic style too. I'm guessing Wendy and Chris's videos have their own thing as well. Unify!!!

Zee hit it on the spot, for me there are just 2-3 too many mechanisms involved, that make the game feel clunky. Which made us bounce of the game hard. I doubt it will hit the table for me again.
I agree there are a few too many rules, but I still find it a good game and will definitely play it again.
Would had to try it since Zee probably would streamline rock-paper-scissors as well. "Too long I say! Paper can go!"
@@markiv2942 I am usually against too much streamlining, but in Beer & Breads case it just felt like, let´s throw in the kitchen sink and then some. But hey, try it, tastes are diffrent, you might like it.

This game was a huge disappointment for me when I played it at PAX. Felt way too clunky and uninteresting.
