    What throttle cable do I need to use for the Briggs and Stratton World Formula engine?

    • @PointKarting
      @PointKarting  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi SparcoSenna! You can use a standard throttle cable, usually about .120" in size for the World Formula. Here's a link to an example: pointkarting.com/products/96-throttle-cable-extra-flexible-96-long-cable-with-a-192-diameter-ball-end-10-pack

    Need help. I set up my Mikuni carb with the right throttle cable. Having a hard time figuring out why my go kart wheels are spinning to fast when lifted in the air. I have tried to adjust the idle screw. I have the needle set up to the second groove. I’m slowing trying to get into karting.

      Hey @Jerome Crowl - it sounds like you have an issue there! Without knowing the type of engine or kart, it can be difficult to say exactly, but we suspect it could be one of a couple issues: 1) your clutch may be engaging at a lower-than-desired idle speed. For example, let's say your engine idles at 2,000 RPM, if your clutch is engaging at 1800-2000 RPM then the rear wheels will spin. So, consider checking how your clutch is set up, if you are using a centrifugal (used on single-speed karts) clutch. 2) You may have tensioned your throttle cable slightly. Sometimes, if you set up your throttle cable to have too much tension when it should be at idle, you can get the problem you are having. While less likely, a kink or bend in the throttle cable sheathing can also cause this. Check your throttle pedal and make sure when it is 'relaxed' that it is truly releasing most of the tension from your throttle cable. If it is not, consider adjusting this. Most racing go karts have 'stops' or bolts that prevent the pedal's forward and backward movement to help you adjust this.
      These are our 2 best suggestions to consider initially if adjusting the idle on your Mikuni has not fixed the high-idle issue so far. Worth noting as well that the rear wheels slightly spinning at idle for many engines is not abnormal when the vehicle is on a stand or in the air - this is a consequence of the tight tolerances between the clutch drum and the internals on many racing karts. Hope this is helpful!!

    Do I need the needle

    • @PointKarting
      @PointKarting  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @David Gryczewski absolutely, you will need the needle. Without it, the engine will not run correctly.
