You know I’ve thought about that too and wondered if I’m a Hypebeast for liking dunks now. However, where I live in Maine I never saw them in stores so I didn’t really have a connection to the model. Now that Nike drops soooo many the exposure is huge and of course at that point you’ll find something to like

You're 100% correct but I wouldn't say it's a scam, special at their price, it's just very good product advertisement and investment, it's part of the fashion industry and business in general and that's how most popular products become popular

At this point I think the best way to keep up with the hype and to not spend ridiculous money over resale is to order nike by you custom dunks. I did it and I am happy as the materials are great and the overall price is justified imo. I have panda dunks and custom dunks and I tend to wear customs more 😅 The only downside is that it takes about a month to be delivered but hey atleast you are saving up money 💰

I got a pair of golden moss Nike by You Dunk highs at the clearance store for $60 lol. The leather quality is a lot better and it has a gum sole
Dunks have been a staple since the 80s, Pharrell popularized them in the early 2000s at the height of the street wear movement. I had all kinds of dunks including the original vintage black and white pandas they will be dropping soon. I gave them all away to my cousin, but I knew they would make a comeback and just like I thought and you are exactly right and Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner co-sign brought them back in the mainstream. I wish I would have kept all of mine. I still have a couple before they became popular and I recently got the retro reverse Panda. I will say the quality of them are not the same from years ago and I think the silhouette is shorter and the material is cheaper.

@@WhatsTheHype.Landon Had the Safari Jungle SB High, always liked those and maybe the MF DOOM dunks given the circumstances. The reason I got rid of them is because I wanted to go with a minimalist aesthetic with my sneakers and I only wanted black and white sneakers, so I got rid off all the ones with colors, had some heat. I wish I would have kept those Vintage Black and White Pandas because they looked really cool. I would love to come across the Tony Parker San Antonio Spurs Dunks as well. I copped those at the actual physical Flight Club NY store. We walked all morning to find it… this was before google maps and I’m from a small town in Oklahoma, trying to navigate the streets of Manhattan, so the hunt for them was sentimental. I did come across a pair of my all time favorites a few years ago, the The Destroyer High Supreme Black and White. I probably searched almost 15 yrs for them only to give them to my nephew and then he grew out of them, so I took them back, lol. I am searching for a pair of Nike Vandal Supreme Terminator Kyle Reese. I know they came out with them a few years ago and also dropped the premium Vandals. I think with the popularity of the Rushmore of Nikes sneaker AF1, Dunk, Blazers if they drop them again sneaker heads will go crazy imo. Keep up the good work.

Got a pair from the drop yesterday. $110 retail ($116 after sales tax) is the most I could stomach paying for these

I had a pair (they got me into sneakers really). I wore them for six months then I sold them for double the retail price and managed to get a pair of "Nike by you" pair. Quality is much better.
I remember buying sb dunks for 60 bucks a pair and I feel like a lot of people forget about skateboardings influence on todays fashion especially in respect to street wear and sneakers

I just hit Thursday on some Pandas for the 1st time. I actually love the trend of Jordan 1s and dunks. SB dunks are good quality. I honestly don't think Nike gives a shit about the Pandas but they have to release them or else people will buy them on resell markets. I have never seen them advertised really. Seems to me Nike pushes AF1 the most.

I bought mine at Novelship, the quality are below my expectation, i could see loose threads here and there and some glue stains.

I would only buy it for retail, there are way better shoes you can buy for there current resale. Also vans are a better black and white shoe anyway and those are like $60-70

I doubt that could ever happen, sneaker stores have too much stock so between them and resellers it’d be hard for the to sell out everywhere

The more they put it out the less the resale value will be years from now. They are money grabbing with this release in oct. Wait 6 months and you will find them under retail after this batch sells out

I bought a pair of panda highs recently, they look nice and go with a lot of outfits. I personally don't see the hate behind them but I'm not really a sneakerhead, if a pair of shoes look nice and I know I can style them with outfits I'm going to buy them

The pandas are the main one as the all white air forces or even the black and white vans. Its like that type of shoe thst almost everyone has in their closet

This video can be applied to pretty much any show that's why these brands seed shoes.. especially to celebrity look what they are currently doing with Tiffany af1s.. Nike dunks especially black/white are a good beater shoe.. same with 550s.. same with adidas superstars etc
I'm a Nike fan but squaring it up to NB is not relative. I've many pairs of NB, especially 997,998,1500s and 580s. Quality is perceived to be good but longevity sucks. Sole separation is 100% guaranteed with crumbling as well... I do agree that nostalgia is a tremendous tool they leverage, kudos to them for knowing how to market. We all need to buy what we just need and not want. Consumerism will be the death of humanity.

I went with the highs not much of a fan of the lows but also regretted it cause Jordan made the same shoe well actually it basically a Jordan 1 silhouette and there version was better but I already had this colorway with dunks so I skipped out on it

I think they’re popular cuz they’re the most obtainable shoe on the market that a consumer can easily get, every sb n regular dunk color way is selling out in seconds and just the fact that black and white r easy to produce it makes sense that Nike will make more pairs to make money. I honestly don’t think it’s because they wanted to make shoe “easy to wear” they just wanted to make money easy. Fake hype = hypebeast it’s the exact same thing but w different labels that’s all.

Hating on Pandas is goofy. There's a lot of gatekeeping going on by people who didn't care about dunks 5 years ago.
Dunks are simple shoes that are easy to wear. GR dunks are no different than superstars, af1s, club cs, etc in my eyes. The only unfortunate aspects of the dunk hype is oversaturated and declining material quality.

@@WhatsTheHype.Landon In the short term no, I think Nike eally benefits from the exclusivity factor. It almost guarantees no overstock and high margins. Long term, absolutely. Dunks have gone in and out of popularity several times. I see a lot of people already moving away from Dunks to New Balances and other options that are better quality and easier to obtain.

I wouldn't buy a pair of Panda Dunks, too basic and I have a pair of black and white New Balance 550. Very nice sneaker. I am considering buying the Ebay Dunk bc that shit go crazy. The only dunk I own are a pair of the Bodega Dunks released in early 2021, the ones that look like western boots.

i dont like the pandas at all but i also never understood why people get upset with how businesses make money. using hype and promotions to boost profits is exactly how someone should run a business.
That makes sense to me. I think the problem with hype is when it doesn’t allow the people who create/influence trends to continue to buy the products they’ve made popular.
I remember wearing Dunks my 9th grade year in high school. Them shoes was wack to my classmates. Now they popular. I also used to get picked on for wearing Puma in middle school. Same clowns that picked on me are now wearing them today. Lol

2:57 lacked 1 important factor: 4. Buy whatever is available from nike. Me personally have fallen into that trap. I almost always take an L with the shoe that i rlly wanted. So the next W i would get regardless if i like em or not. Anyway, i get y everybody wants these. They are very versatile. Would’ve easily replaced my vans authentic as my go to. Would literally trade some of from my collection for these.

I’m a Dunk collector (sort of) I own lots of og pairs a going back to the first orange box era. The panda dunk isn’t in my collection or ever will be, it’s boring colour way and the materials used are rubbish, plus everyone and their mum owns a pair so I can’t flex in a dunk like that.

Do they still do Nike id for dunks ? That was the shit, I basically made panda high tops with hints of hot pink in 2013 , so cuuute and way better quality than most runs of dunks .
Unfortunately Nike only releases Nike ID dunks at limited times and they sell out. I was able to get 1 pair and really was impressed with the quality though

I didn’t know those had good quality, but I really like those. The swoosh is what really stands out on that model to me, definitely underrated🔥

@@WhatsTheHype.Landon nothing special at all, all GR, i think i like jordan 1 high the most, actually im specifically collecting them, i guess my fav one is the SBB 3.0 and the 85 georgetown because thats the only time when i paid resell for shoes just because i like the color so much.
i also like new balance far before thay are hype and before i buy any nike shoes, my fav is 2002r protection pack in orange colorway
but i think nowadays i wear panda the most because i got much attention on the street when i wear it, not because they are my fav
i like jordan 4 better than dunk actually
my fav jordan 4 is the recent one canyon purple, they are the dopest to release this year for me personally
