I started carving with a borrowed pocket knife. Then went to small tools that would break then to better carvinf tools then to real wood carving with few better Swiss Made carving tools. I used a very small Sethi saw for sawing wood for carving but the fuel boiled in the tank and that was a worry. I was a worry, My mix was correct but somebody said I should have used more oil in the gas. I used it to rough out Juniper/cedar for fine carving and converted it to bronze. I worked very hard for the smoothness of the touch of the wood to the touch of the hand on the sculpture of the wood. Good luck with your work. Stay our to Ruidoso, NM because there a bear on every corner.
