I'm sure Rohan and even Imladris would have use horse archer to harass the dwarf on their way to whatever settlement, and would seen them from far enough to muster cavalry and other counter-mesure

Agreed The elves are actually more elite regrade of skill u can't just lose 500 men to 30 thousand troops the dwarfs would have been spent by the time they reached Rohan.
