This was pretty neat. My one critique to the modders is that they missed a huge opportunity to have the full "Sheikah" armor set look exactly like OG Sheik.

I think the ending with two Zeldas feels more metaphorical than literal. She is seeing the part of her she was searching for for so long. It feels more like an ending for a story about self discovery and that self discovery lead to her being able to destroy ganon
i would honestly love to see a zelda game where zelda is the main protagonist and needs to save link. maybe she could wield magic to replace combat with weapons?
Honestly- the girly walk animation was terrible. It just felt like something for the male gaze. Zelda might be a princess but in this mod she's also a warrior so I really like the way she walks and runs now
I think that it’s cool to have Zelda as the character in this mod and changing a few things is needed. BUT there is a point where we go too far and just start feeding into unnecessary gender stereotypes that shouldn’t exist let alone be made more normal.

Dorephan (do, re), Mipha (mi, fa), Zora (so, la), and Sidon (si, do). This is further seen in Mipha and Sidon's themes as the most prominent notes for both are their respective music notes. Mi-fa for Mipha and Si-do for Sidon.

I think it would've been neat if the Zeldas were in fact same the same Zelda, but the one inside Ganon could have been Zelda's spirit, or an incarnation of her regret for not being able to save Hyrule the first time. It would've been cool if in the final cutscene the held out their hands and merged Byleth and Sothis style.

I as a gamergirl would actually love a role reversed LoZ where Link is born as the prince and Zelda as the knight (or just a random person like Twilight Princess's Link) where as she travels due to some reason where she sees Link in trouble and being a good person she feels the need to help but in the time she's helping its slowly revealed their the two hero's decedents (as normal) and they have to train their powers to defeat the evil.... Or something along those lines IDK ha, love this video
To be fair this is basically what she did on HER side of the story during TotK. Trained and fought together with others. Journeyed across the world. Unlocked new powers. As Link we kinda just get to see "important moments" while the whole story was waaaay bigger and unlike BotW where Zelda was stuck in one place - she clearly had adventure of her own this time that took clearly more than a few days.
That would be an interesting twist. The idea for the hero is that its based on character snd willpower, thus Link, although trained as a night and not as a mage, could inherit the magical power to hold Ganon in the timeline.
I'd like to imagine all of Zelda's voice lines though the game are instead swapped with Link, and instead of there being any translations to what he's saying, the subtitles are literally just his grunts.
Seeing the two Zeldas makes me want a universe in which Zelda has a twin/sister, and one of them fulfills link’s role in the prophesy and the other is normal Zelda. I think it’d be a really neat dynamic

Ganandorf was within the castle and part of the royal court in hiding, waiting for the birth of the next hero. The fact that this Link was a girl threw all the bad guys off until she was strong enough to take on the role of the Hero. Meanwhile shes getting more bad ass each year. Ganandorf starts to suspect things and hires someone within the champions as a double agent to keep tabs on Link's training and skill, with the plan to assassinate her before she was too strong (but only if there was proof she was the next Hero so not to out himself as the reincarnate of Demise). I had plans for a character like Mipha to foil the murder plot... anywho...thats the general back story :p and yes there would be a love triangle in the middle somewhere, because who doesn't like a good love triangle.

Heck, following the same logic, Ganondorf doesn't have to be reincarnated as the big bad. Strictly speaking, a game where Ganondorf stops evil Zelda while Link is the plot device could be possible within the lore.
From what I remember Zelda is always the princess of hyrule and is meant to be the reincarnation of Goddess Hylia, and Ganon/Ganondorf was Demise’s curse that there will always be ganon to hunt them
Skyward Sword specifies that Link, as legendary hero, and Zelda, as legendary goddess had been cursed by Demise to be reborn over and over again in the same roles, with Demise following them under the reincarnation Ganondorf, so yes, there IS a reason. That was specified in the very curse that caused the reincarnation.
True as the Skyward Sword Dilemma is, if a game so chooses to fully canonize Demise's curse as "Broken", who's to say the cycle of reincarnation won't continue anyway due to the influence of the Triforce and/or Hylia herself? I wouldn't be surprised if the Goddess decided to keep it going just for entertainment's sake.
Imagine a game where a Zelda, from any timeline, somehow ends in a Hyrule that doesn't remember the legend of the eternal battle between Link and Ganondorf, and that also forgot about the Princess Zelda. That could be a nice context for any game that features Zelda as a playable character.

I wouldn't say Zelda's OG running animation is "girly," but it looks hella pathetic. When she runs like Link does, she actually looks pretty badass heroine. Like the dude said, she looks more determined.
Will say, I love the implication that Zelda already knew how to use weapons before she got out in the sleepy bathtub. Like, maybe that she secretly learned how to fight while out with Link or something.
I think it is better that they didn't change too many of the animations. Just because the character is female doesn't mean everything she does has to be different. Though given the difference in personality between the two it would make sense for the animations to be different in some cases. On a side note. female Link is linkle but what is male Zelda?
Linkle is her own character. (With the background established for her being that she idolizes Link and wants to follow in his footsteps and prove herself to be the next great hero. I'd imagine that if she shows up again in a new story they might do something to distance the next Linkle from that type of start. Much like how incarnations of Link don't always repeat exactly the same backstory as previous Links.) Granted, she is the closest thing to "female Link" that anybody that keeps asking for it is ever going to see. I don't think they've created a character that we could think of as a male counterpart to Zelda in the same way that Linkle is a female counterpart to Link. A character who could fill the same (or mostly the same) role in a story. It probably wouldn't be the king. Wind Waker established (if it wasn't already a thing in an earlier game) the king as being representative of the type of person that the Triforce would judge to be balanced between the three traits, unlike the usual trio we're used to seeing at the center of the series each representing one trait much more strongly than they represent the other two traits. A male counterpart to Zelda would have to be a wisdom type just like her, maybe a bookworm type of character like Twilight Princess's Shad. Plus there's the bloodline connection that the devs would want to stick to. The most likely candidate for her counterpart would be a prince of Hyrule, someone else who would be a descendant of the goddess Hylia's bloodline that traces back to Skyward Sword's Zelda. But the closest the franchise has ever gotten to including such a character is from a backstory written in the manual for the 2nd NES game. The story where the dying king had to decide whether his son or daughter most deserved to inherit the kingdom from him, and the court's wizard tempted the prince into helping him curse the princess into an endless sleep to ensure that the prince would inherit everything. For the entire rest of the series after that we tend to mostly just hear about the king and the princess. A mother has been mentioned a couple times, but that's as far as any mentions of other members of the royal family goes.
@@MuljoStpho I have seen a couple different ideas around the community but people are more interested in making female counterparts for known characters rather than male ones but that is just more of a general thing. At this point it has been established that the magic seems to follow mostly along the paths of the mothers. Which makes sense considering it was a goddess that the bloodline comes from. But regardless of it all. It is some things to ponder on.
43:50 the reason the master sword last a long time inside the hurtle castle. The master sword will reach its full potential when fighting enemies with malice, the whole of hurtle castle is infested with malice and master sword lowers durability by decimal points when at full power.

I've always wanted to see a Zelda game where you play as you know Zelda and have to rescue Link, after years for their struggle Ganondorf aims to take out The hero with Courage 1st leaving the Princess "defenceless" but she steps up and journeys on to save Link when recused only together can they defeat Ganon.
Zelda had a twin named Link in this universe (the champion princess). She just couldn't remember her own name, only her sister, Zelda's so she took that name and everyone thought it was the heir twin. Any suggestion of a love triangle would have to be taken differently, and Mipha's into girls I guess

You know, looking at those outfits for Zelda reminded me of this piece of artwork someone did with a What if Female Link and what the various outfits in BotW would look like on her. They were very nice.
i guess it makes sense for the zora people to refer to link as the one mipha had feelings for, especially if the mod team is trying to be as canon-compliant as possible, but it wouldve been extremely funny to me specifically if they decided to go for Gay Fish Princesses for sake of ease lmao

The one that was holding it back is the real power Zelda, and the one that you guys are playing at is that like physical form of Zelda, like in tears of the kingdom, where they can take their power forms out of their bodies
I love this mod. They should actually add it to the game because the one game we get where Zelda is the main protagonist. She’s like 6 inches tall and you can’t play like you can on both of the wild and tears of the kingdom. I like it better this way and I hope next game, they might add this
im quite late to this video, but Zelda's Rito Armour hair mesh is actually from a character's hairstyle in fire emblem three houses; Constance has the exact same hair, so the modders probably used that! it suits Zelda more honestly
That's actually amazing. I've always liked the idea of being able to play as Zelda even though BOTW was my first Zelda game and I didn't mind playing as Link at all.
It would be so cool if we got to play as Zelda or if you got to have a choice between Link and Zelda right at the beginning of the game. The game is named after her anyways. I could also just imagine Link as the damsel in distress 😂

Imagine a game where a Zelda, from any timeline, somehow ends in a Hyrule that doesn't remember the legend of the eternal battle between Link and Ganondorf, and that also forgot about the Princess Zelda. That could be a nice context for any game that features Zelda as a playable character.
I just headcanon that a strand of Zelda’s dna fell into the shrine of resurrection with Link’s body, leading him to be revived as a clone of her.

I wouldn't say Zelda's OG running animation is "girly," but it looks hella pathetic. When she runs like Link does, she actually looks pretty badass heroine. Like the dude said, she looks more determined.

I think it is better that they didn't change too many of the animations. Just because the character is female doesn't mean everything she does has to be different. Though given the difference in personality between the two it would make sense for the animations to be different in some cases. On a side note. female Link is linkle but what is male Zelda?
Linkle is her own character. (With the background established for her being that she idolizes Link and wants to follow in his footsteps and prove herself to be the next great hero. I'd imagine that if she shows up again in a new story they might do something to distance the next Linkle from that type of start. Much like how incarnations of Link don't always repeat exactly the same backstory as previous Links.) Granted, she is the closest thing to "female Link" that anybody that keeps asking for it is ever going to see.
I don't think they've created a character that we could think of as a male counterpart to Zelda in the same way that Linkle is a female counterpart to Link. A character who could fill the same (or mostly the same) role in a story. It probably wouldn't be the king. Wind Waker established (if it wasn't already a thing in an earlier game) the king as being representative of the type of person that the Triforce would judge to be balanced between the three traits, unlike the usual trio we're used to seeing at the center of the series each representing one trait much more strongly than they represent the other two traits. A male counterpart to Zelda would have to be a wisdom type just like her, maybe a bookworm type of character like Twilight Princess's Shad. Plus there's the bloodline connection that the devs would want to stick to. The most likely candidate for her counterpart would be a prince of Hyrule, someone else who would be a descendant of the goddess Hylia's bloodline that traces back to Skyward Sword's Zelda. But the closest the franchise has ever gotten to including such a character is from a backstory written in the manual for the 2nd NES game. The story where the dying king had to decide whether his son or daughter most deserved to inherit the kingdom from him, and the court's wizard tempted the prince into helping him curse the princess into an endless sleep to ensure that the prince would inherit everything. For the entire rest of the series after that we tend to mostly just hear about the king and the princess. A mother has been mentioned a couple times, but that's as far as any mentions of other members of the royal family goes.
@@MuljoStpho I have seen a couple different ideas around the community but people are more interested in making female counterparts for known characters rather than male ones but that is just more of a general thing. At this point it has been established that the magic seems to follow mostly along the paths of the mothers. Which makes sense considering it was a goddess that the bloodline comes from. But regardless of it all. It is some things to ponder on.
I like that Zelda now can fight with weapons and now she's not just a mage.
43:50 the reason the master sword last a long time inside the hurtle castle. The master sword will reach its full potential when fighting enemies with malice, the whole of hurtle castle is infested with malice and master sword lowers durability by decimal points when at full power.

I've always wanted to see a Zelda game where you play as you know Zelda and have to rescue Link, after years for their struggle Ganondorf aims to take out The hero with Courage 1st leaving the Princess "defenceless" but she steps up and journeys on to save Link when recused only together can they defeat Ganon.
Imagine if this was an actual DLC.

She just couldn't remember her own name, only her sister, Zelda's so she took that name and everyone thought it was the heir twin. You know, looking at those outfits for Zelda reminded me of this piece of artwork someone did with a What if Female Link and what the various outfits in BotW would look like on her. They were very nice.

I love this mod. They should actually add it to the game because the one game we get where Zelda is the main protagonist. She’s like 6 inches tall and you can’t play like you can on both of the wild and tears of the kingdom. I like it better this way and I hope next game, they might add this

im quite late to this video, but Zelda's Rito Armour hair mesh is actually from a character's hairstyle in fire emblem three houses; Constance has the exact same hair, so the modders probably used that! it suits Zelda more honestly

That's actually amazing. I've always liked the idea of being able to play as Zelda even though BOTW was my first Zelda game and I didn't mind playing as Link at all.
