    I noticed Maybelle was still eating when laying down. Have you tried raising the food up so maybe she couldn't get it as well while laying down?

    Love the relaxed vibes..! That's the only problem I have with this channel, usually - it's just so intense. But this was awesome and the tips are always great 👍

    I just diced a ton of tomatoes to freeze yesterday! Freezing is definitely my favorite way to preserve :)

    I’ve used this trick before and it works really well. Especially if you have a tiny garden like me and you never have enough ripe tomatoes ready (all at the same time without spoiling) to make something for preservation. It’s quick and easy, but I have forgotten bags of tomatoes in the freezer before. I learned it’s wise to put a monthly reminder in my phone to process the tomatoes. It repeats once a month until I have time to get it done. Most people are probably more organized than me, but I forget things 😂

    Frozen cherry tomatoes are the best summer snacks. With a pinch of salt... Yum!❤❤❤

    I just enjoyed my first tomato from my Michigan garden. Look out, I'll be swamped in tomatoes, and peppers 😊can't wait to make salsa, juice, pasta sauce, etc.
    It's time to finish my chicken chores as I listen to you.
    Thanks for sharing ideas to preserve my harvest.

    Please tell me, did you fertilize your tomatoes?how often. Did you spray for pest? How often? They look so good!

    • @WhisperingWillowFarm
      @WhisperingWillowFarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      We never fertilized or spray anything for pests after planting. We amend our soil before planting and spray AgriGro’s Ultra once a week until temperatures get above 90 degrees

    My favorite cherry tomato recipe. Clean and spread them out on a cookie sheet. Toss with garlic infused olive oil, and Redmond's salt. If I don't have garlic infused oil, I just add a few cloves of garlic. Roast in the oven until the tomatoes pop and release some of their juice. Put the tomatoes, along with the garlic oil and juice in a mason jar, making sure the tomatoes are covered in the oil and juice mixture. Refrigerate. It makes a great fast lunch or dinner. Just cook some pasta, add a couple spoonfuls of the tomato comfit, and any herbs, cheese, whatever you like. SO flippin good!.
    Raise Maybelle's bowl up so she has to stretch a little to reach it. Love you guys!

    I still have some tomatoes in the freezer I need to process, thanks for the reminder. I like to use 2 gallon bags for the larger ones. I don't think the Ziploc brand makes them anymore, but you can find some off brand ones here and there.

    What is the best process for thawing them so they're not mushy? Great content as always. I'm just a little ways away from you, I'm behind Lake Conway up on the hill.

      Hey neighbor. If I’m freezing for another day, I’m typically going to use them in salsas or just canning

    I love your videos, Jill! Meeting you at HOA made me love them even more because you are just sunshine!
    I’m not sure if you’ve already done one but I’d love to see a video all about goats - pros & cons of raising them, what is breeding them like, how much milk do you get, is “raw” goat milk as dangerous/controversial as raw cow milk, would you ever get a dairy cow, what should you consider before getting goats, etc?
    Thank you for the great, entertaining content! 😊❤

    New to your channel. How do you navigate ticks living on a farm like that?! We live in Tennessee and I’m afraid to get farm animals because of ticks and Lyme disease I have even lost a friend from. Do you bug spray your produce and property and if so, do you mind sharing with what? I like to go natural when possible but my husband says we have to use stronger stuff to keep them at bay. I’m also really enjoying getting to know your channel and y’all! Peaceful vibes, Neighbor!✨

      Welcome to our journey ❤️. We are glad you’re here. Ticks are a problem here as well. Since we’ve been here, not a single one of us has gotten a tick (Thank the Lord). However we pull them off our dogs often. We have never sprayed and can attribute the lack of ticks to our free range chickens I guess. I hope I’m not speaking to soon because I may be singing a different tune this year 😂

    Hey Jill I also heard that the tomatoes, skins peel off easier? is this true and if so do I then need to remove the core or just put them in the bag as you just did? thank you ahead of time lol.

    If you pull the goats legs out a bit behind her and tie them, she won't be able to lay down. It'll teach her proper etiquette then you can remove the hobbles

    I have a question please. What do you use your goats milk for? I am trying to decide which to get a milk cow or goats. God Bless

    • @WhisperingWillowFarm
      @WhisperingWillowFarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have the space and resources, get a cow. I bought goats to ease into dairy animals but wish I had a cow. My two girls won’t keep up with the amount of milk we go through

    How does goat milk taste compared to cow milk? I’ve never had it.

    • @steveegbert7429
      @steveegbert7429 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A lot of it depends on the breed and what they eat. Good pasture and supplemental grain make a big difference. The milk from the Alpine and Sannen goats I had was very tasty and creamy. I've had some others that tasted very goat-y.

    • @Wonder_Bee1
      @Wonder_Bee1 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I tried it for the first time this summer (only bought it for baby rabbits) but had to use it up and actually it was pretty good! It tasted a little sweeter to me than regular milk.
