Caroline Matteo is a midwife trained in France. After some years of clinical practice both in hospital settings and community practice, she became a midwifery lecturer in Aix-Marseille University midwifery department in 2020. She has MSc in Public Health and a Professional Doctorate in Health, Nursing and Social Sciences both from Glasgow Caledonian University. Her doctoral research, completed in 2022, was on postpartum perineal pain when the perineum is diagnosed to be intact. Her commitments to the cause of midwifery and women's health in France and abroad have led her to
be elected as international representative of the French National
College of Midwives (CNSF). Future prospects involve more involvement in research around the postpartum experience, as well as working on a new French curriculum for midwifery education which has recently been changed from a 5-year course to 6 years.
