  • For people who'd rather not listen to my peculiar accent, here's the transcript:
My presence on the Patreon website is a bit different from the rest.
To be featured on this website one needs to claim a financial goal.
The materials for my works cost between 400 and 600 each month. If higher than that, I refrain and recycle.
I set an average of 500 euros as the goal, if you want to contribute to that, in a moment I will explain the benefits. If you see that the sum is fully covered by patrons, I’d rather you buy one of my works than go over that limit or become another Artist’s Patron.
The cost of a toy, sculpture, drawing or painting is calculated based on the materials consumed and time involved. My goal is not to charge anyone for my time. While I work I love what I do, I grow, I personally benefit already. I don’t want to provide for my livelihood from my work. It’s a different story (no, I’m not wealthy!)
And now, the main reason I want to be on Patreon.
Whatever your job is, I’m certain you need feedback on your work. In the case of an artist (I call myself an artisan but that again it’s another story…) I love feedback. People on the whole don’t know how to feed criticism. In itself, pertinent criticism and opinions are not good or bad. They are all beneficial to both you and me. Little FB thumbs up or IG hearts are cute but they’re not criticism.
The benefits of taking the time to feel what you see, analyze what you see are something I don’t understand why people ignore. So, my dearest Patrons are those who get involved, learn to do it and become better at it.
There’s a breed called “critics” that are educated in the matter and want to make money from their criticism. Understandably so. However, resisting the temptation of making a name (money) for yourself while promoting or bullying an artist is not an easy task. I therefore appreciate an honest, un-educated opinion. My works by nature try to look un-educated (it’s called Outsider in the Arts). Be an Outsider Critic and you’re my Patron already!
    Tires for feedback and/or money
Constructive criticism “earns” you a 7% discount if you purchase one of my works. Also, it allows you to vote for the toy that I will finish next.
Financial contributions for my materials gives you a 7% discount on the purchase of one work and gives you the opportunity to vote for the next project. It also has a personal return, knowing that you’re with your fingers in the works someone makes
In both cases you have my gratitude and whenever time & money allows, I will send you a small gift I specifically make for my Patrons. It can be a small (unique) drawing or a woodblock print (of the 10 copies I usually make) or a small cast object.
Voting for the future work, what’s that?
It applies only to the toy sculptures.
I sculpt the model in polymer clay. I already have a lot of them, I sculpt almost every day (when I don’t spend time with promoting myself. Grrr!)
I will display the models once they’re finished or almost finished (fully painted). The one that gets more votes “goes in production”. Consequently, I make the molds, the casts, the finishing, the painting. Each is done by hand, each is one of a short series of 10. I don’t make more. Individually hand painted they will be slightly different from one another. Like the Japanese woodcut prints made by artisans: similar yet unique, no mass production.
This way of work, amongst other reasons, is hoping to revive the interest in hand work, hard work, the unique embodiment of an object. Even Caravaggio made several copies of his own paintings, commissioned by Patrons who saw the original and wanted one “just like that!”. They are all slightly different.
I could go on for days, as you probably understood. I will continue to make posts, videos on the subjects and aspects that influence my work. That will be with/for people who engage back. With me it’s not about numbers!
