I was at the theatre when it was going out live on ITV in October 1985....she was supposed to sing Butterflies but decided to sing Quiet Please because Butterflies hadnt charted. She had a bad throat that night....so she did a good job considering she was singing live and lost her way slightly with Son of a Preacher Man...bring a true professional she found her way back. The "Dynasty" shoulder pads makes her very much 1980s.....why somebody has posted to get this clip removed is difficult to understand. A legend
Stuart Jarvis You are very lucky to have so many memories with Dusty! I'm happy for you! Thank you very much for sharing with us these precious memories!🎶🎵
So nice of you to share . Can you remember anymore precious nuggets? There are many fans who cant get enough of Dusty. PS .there is a youtube chanel that showed her house she bought in Laurel Canyon area of L.A. in the 70's. Guess she liked modern : had lots of glass across the second story . She said in an interview she could lie in her bed and see the lights of the city, spectacular. Too bad she never really felt completely at home there (L.A.) But under the circumstances, understandable.
Gosh, that would have been perhaps the only live vocal of “Sometimes like Butterflies” as the other promo appearances were mimed. If she was having throat trouble then she made the right call as that song spans up to E5 in chest voice which she hadn’t typically belted since her prime.
She did some act with the Beatles. Lets not forget Petula Clark and Skeeter Davis, Brenda Lee , Judith Durham and a few others, that Black woman who sang very emotionally sounding who remade Here Comes the sun. Names are eluding me right now, sorry. Dusty also remade Norma's No stranger am I.
Her voice was part of my young life, the score that played as I navigated through a crazy period back then. When I hear her sing, I travel back in time.
Thanks. I was fortunate....memories don't leave, like people do, they always stay with you....whether they've been good or bad...they're something you had!
First impressions of this performance are not encouraging: in the opening number Dusty could almost be drunk - making silly faces at the audience and getting the mike cable caught in her heel. Her voice is strained and only really sounds good on The Look of Love. She cracks on the final note of Quiet Please too. However, she was a charismatic star and pulls the medley out of the bag. The audience are warm and clearly appreciate her. The shaggy perm and outfit are terrible but though it all Dusty's star power shines through. :-)
@@surfcottage If you read my post carefully you'll see that I am certainly appreciative and respectful of her talent - it's her stylist who should have been given a p.45... (Furthermore, why are you capitalising the word live? I do understand standard English.)
One person made a remark about Dusty getting the microphone cable caught into the heel of her shoe what makes you so perfect stop judging others because Jesus Will judge you
