Thank you my friend. I do like to take advantage of some of the advances in technology but I refuse to be dependent upon them. I love being able to get online here at the cabin but I'm often doing so while my keyboard is being illuminated by an antique oil lamp. A clash of the centuries going on here.

Gotta say I really admire your handcrafted work you've done in the cabin.
Many years ago not far from your place in N.H. Where I lived, my dog would tangle with those porkies and I'd have to bring him to the vet and low and behold, he never learned!! It was the best 14 years of my life with endless hunting and adventure stories. Thanks J.C. and Frankie.!!

I don't think you realize how many of us check daily for your updates, you are so amazing and have such talents. You are living my dream and so many of us feel the same I am sure. However, I maybe closer than I too realize, to making this dream reality. I do know things don't happen over night.
In one of your videos you said that your dreams don't come to you that you have make them happen and no truer words were ever spoken. One day you wake up and realize you have been pleasing others your whole life and just sitting on the side watching life pass by.
One year ago my 34 year old son was diagnosed with T4 colon cancer, which took the wind right out of my sails to say the very least. After a long hard year and a thirteen hour surgery he is now doing his post surgical chemo. In July of last year my sister took ill and died from a bladder infection that she turned septic from. After three more family deaths in a month after my sister passed it was time for me to reevaluate my own life.
I will be sixty-one in March and now is my time to do what I have always wanted and that is to buy land and live in a cabin in the woods. I no longer fear I can't do it, just hope I live long enough to enjoy it. I am selling out my business and forward I go. I am dealing on a 16 acre parcel of land and am excited for the first time in years.
I know it is going to be long hours and tons of work, but I am up to this new and challenging chapter of my life. I want that country garden again and to harvest and can all my foods. I love doing that. Making jelly and canning tomatoes are my top two favorites.
Thank-you for sharing all those wonderful videos with us, the one thing I can say is I will not be trapping beaver....LOL

I truly would trap beaver if they were causing me trouble or making a mess of my land. I am terrified of those animals and have no idea why!
I agree about the moving them, all that does is make a whole set of new problems for someone else. I do not understand what is so inhumane and what upsets people, after all this is the circle of life.
There will always be those people that truly have their heads tucked up the wrong end! You are doing a great job trapping and super on the videos.

    • @thebossoftheswamp
      @thebossoftheswamp 9 ปีที่แล้ว

Sherry Woyczik Thank you for your sensible response. The worst animal haters I have ever seen are not hunters and trappers, they're everyday homeowners that are suffering with wildlife damages. I've seen them do the cruelest stuff. Stuff I would NEVER consider doing to an animal. If the grid ever goes down via terrorist attack, solar flare etc, and there is no longer refrigeration or food available in the stores because of it, The only folks that will survive will be those that are self reliant. I won't go without fresh meat and I don't need electricity to have it. God Bless.

Thank you my friend. Yes, the videos take me a long time to piece together. Sort footage, cut and paste, find and match the right music etc etc. This one took about 8 hours of editing. Part 4 of my roots series took me 30 hours but I worked at it in bits and pieces. I learned a long time ago to make things the way I want them and not rush into something I don't want. Rushing into things only gives me what I don't want, that much faster. Silly but true.

Hi Boss, Take care of that porcupine, bad news near the cabin and Frankie. I had to take a few out over the years. Always taught my boys to utilize any game they harvested. Never thought to try and fry the porky up, but did remove the quills and gave them to a friend that made beautiful jewelry with them. I've even chased a few with a long piece of styrofoam through the woods, gave them a tap, just to collect the quills! Fun times! Thanks for sharing your woodworking skills, top notch!

That bunk project looks tremendous! Would you give some more details on it's construction? Like how did you attach the ends of the rails to the wall without any supports visible???

Hi Joe, you're a true craftsman whether its with a camera of a power tool. The bunk beds are a work of primitive art and I hope you are sucessful in keeping Frankie safe and healthy for a very long time. Best wishes, Jerry

That's a great idea for a bunk bed and it looks great. I think that's another lost art...looking at a tree or some deadfall and being able to see the various pieces that can be used for anything from the largest support beams to little coat hooks or cabinet pulls. Waste not want not, right? That cabin gets better and better with every video boss, keep'em coming!

Howdy Jon. The log bed was my intention from the git go but I didn't want to install the log post until I had the flooring done. So far so good and I'm thrilled with the outcome of the project. Frankie's on the bunk as I type. Thank you for all your views and comments.

We grew all our vegetables some fruits and livestock as well. Thank you for your video updates I alwats look forward to visiting with you at your cabin.

WTG on the bunk beds. Love the draw knife finish and how you left the wane on the drawer fronts for a profile. Got to say the look of joy on your face when you arrived. Priceless. The birds greeting you with a song very cool.Cooler, composting toilet updates keep em coming. Tell Frankie to watch out for the Porkies wouldn't want to see him hurt. Will be waiting in anticipation for the next one. Thanks very much as always my friend. God bless and take care.
