  • Did you know a transport wheelchair can be dangerous if you don't know how to use it?
Transport chairs, or transport wheelchairs, are SUPER light-weight wheelchairs and can be amazingly helpful! They're primarily used to help someone get around for doctors appointments and hair appointments. Because they are so light, they are easy to get into the car. But this helpful benefit can also be very dangerous. So it's important to know how to use a transport chair safely!
In this video, you will learn how to safely use a transport chair when transferring to and from the transport chair. You will also learn some more of the benefits of the transport wheelchair.

That was Terrific ...the way you demonstrated falling backward. I will show my 96 year old mother ...as we are considering buying a transport. Also, it's good the brakes can be reached by the occupant. Some models dont allow for that.

Thanks for explaining all this to us, your viewers. I wouldn't want to fall over backwards in one of those wheeled chairs. I'm glad you're alright.

Mary, thank you for your comment! I'm glad it got the point across to be safe! Unfortunately it happens all too often. If it can help reduce the risk of even one fall, it was well worth making the video. Thank you for your feedback.

Thanks for reading my first comment from the other day.

Some of us have a tendance of plopping down quickly onto a chair. Your video shows we need to calmly control our movement into the chair as we lower our selves downwards. To prevent a backwards Fall. Good video content.

I just saw something called "Anti-tip Wheels" that regular wheelchairs have, but are sold as accessories for some Transport Chairs. Would that make tipping over when you sit less probable?

What a great demonstration, tho it was scary to see you fall it was a great warning. I wonder if it will work to have it against a wall with the brakes on? Sometimes I am alone.

Eustaquia, I'm not sure actually. The doctor could help advise more as to what may or may not be covered.

My mom has original medicare and original medicade. My mom's Dr. wrote a rx and we gave it to a durable medical equipment (DME) company and the DME sent paper work for the medicare the to the dr to fill out. Once everything was completed, the DME company delivered this to our house. It's actually rent to own. After twelve months we have the option to keep it. Medicare is paying for its rental.
