From experience, they will only stretch in the wash. Although, I've only washed the stretchy variant
The standard denim dont stetch much. The stretch pair might change a little bit because it's got cotton in them

The non-stretch denim from MNML have decent space for the calves. Maybe try those? Eg. M1
or you can size up with the stretch pair as they are elastic
