Fr I never got that because y/n is supposed to be ambiguous enough for the reader to project onto her and insert themselves into the story. Giving y/n specific physical traits takes away from that so she basically becomes an unnamed oc.
Usually when I first started reading stories with y/n it would always thankfully have h/c and e/c inserts so you'd feel kinda better which I'm so happy for

I understand the struggles! Even for me, my asian hair is way too smooth and too thin to do a bun. The last time I tried twin buns I styled them when I still had wet hair which never dried after a whole day lol
