I lost over $80k when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said. I'm still responsible. Excellent content on investing. You did a great job explaining the concept of investing. Can you make a series dealing with investing . For example how does the taxes work , how do you withdraw money once you retire, when do you know when is the best time you sell and how you go about it etc…. As these would be so helpful to understand as you did a terrific job of explaining a so called difficult subject and simplified it where it made sense. Thank you Austin so much🎉

Success depends on the actions or steps you take to achieve it. Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. Financial management is a crucial topic that most tend to shy away from, and it ends up haunting them in the near future.., I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life!!

And I invested most of it in Vanguard VGS with dividends reinvested and dollar cost averaging. The return is 13% over 10 years. VTS is about 15% over 10 years.
Another reason people lose money.. Greed.. when a particular stock is rising or being bullish, everyone rushes to buy and dump when it drops in a few days’ time.. this, almost always ends badly.. ❤ I have a stock which I bought during rock bottom Covid time - at a total price of $ 1500 - it was a renewable energy company.. with a good future - went through a lot of ups and down over the past 4 years and many did panic selling - however I held on and that single stock is worth $ 30000 now.. I’m holding it till 2030 - my logic is this.. If I lose it all, I lose $ 1500 - at the same time if I gain.. it’s gonna be substantial.. either way I don’t lose much… 😊
Agustin, would you do more staff like that in detail? Buying and selling? Would you go more in detail and spend More time doing it ? If possible Thanks

This may seem like a silly question, but do you need to claim your dividends when you file your income tax ? I’m thinking you do, but wanted to confirm. Thanks, for making investing so easy to understand ! 😊😊
That's a good question for an accountant, haha! But until you withdraw the money, your investment isn't "realized" and not taxed, but once you withdraw investments or "realize" them, you should speak to your accountant on how it is taxed.

The main difference is ETFs trade like stocks where you can buy and sell them in real time prices. Whereas Index Funds trade once a day at market closure. If you're in it for the long term, those things probably won't concern you. The thing to look out for is the management fee and keeping that as low as you can.
Great information! Is there a need to open an individual brokerage account if you already have a brokerage account for retirement? Is there a benefit to do so?
It depends what your goals are. If you want to be able to withdraw money sooner than retirement age then that would be a benefit. Or if you have maxed out all your retirement accounts and wanted to continue investing.
Hi Austin, thank you for the introducting stocks and index funds in an easy to understand format. I am 60 years old and have invested in cd's, treasury bills, notes and bonds. While I am interested in index funds, I'm not sure if it makes sense for me at my age, or if I should just keep doing what I've been doing. es que me esta saliendo mucho contenido de eso y cerca de casa habrieron una disque escuela y me esta tentando? but maybe is a scam saludos desde Puerto rico
Yes. Pick a good diverse index fund with a reputable company like Vanguard and hold as long as possible. The younger you start the better (you can cheaply invest and for say about 40 years with dollar cost averaging and end up a multi millionaire). But even if you're older it's never too late. You choose a fund which gives a high return over 10 years e.g VTSAX. And never sell when the market is volatile, it always bounces back. My mother passed away and left me some money and I put in VGS. Though I'm 60 now when it's doing well I cream some money off the too into savings.y
The dividends are reinvested . If I took the dividends and stopped dollar cost averaging I would have $225 a week with my capital untouched. It would still grow just not as quickly. I'm going on two holidays this year and next year with some of the money I creamed off. You can use a compound interest calculator calculator

It took me over two years of being in the market, I'm really grateful I found one source to recover my money, at least $10k profits weekly. Thanks Charlotte Miller she could help you too
Excellent content on investing.

Once your purchased , Agustin, how long do you keep it in there? Are there any fees involved? How often do you check it? If is gone or up? Do you sell it at what point? I am not expert here. Thanks
Get a good CFA first.

This was really helpful. I will try out index funds when I got the money.
Great teacher!!! Thank you!
Very informative
Yes it helped
Thank you Austin. Is there a S&P 500 index fund that Canadians can buy 😮on the tse? ❤
I just googled that question so you can just ignore my question but I sure appreciate your fine videos Austin!! ❤

Thanks! 😃
Straight to the point, no fluff/bs. 👍

@@ElAgustin que bueno, gracias 👍
Is 60 too late to do any of this??
No. When my mother passed away a few years ago I was left some money and
And I invested most of it in Vanguard VGS with dividends reinvested and dollar cost averaging. The return is 13% over 10 years. VTS is about 15%
over 10 years.
Another reason people lose money.. Greed.. when a particular stock is rising or being bullish, everyone rushes to buy and dump when it drops in a few days’ time.. this, almost always ends badly.. ❤
I have a stock which I bought during rock bottom Covid time - at a total price of $ 1500 - it was a renewable energy company.. with a good future - went through a lot of ups and down over the past 4 years and many did panic selling - however I held on and that single stock is worth $ 30000 now..

Every now and then you do want "garbage" food and it's good, lol. But if you're eating McDondalds more than once every quarter and it's like, "What I am doing with my life?!"

Hi in simple terms could somebody please explain the difference between EFTs and index funds? And which is better. Thanks.
@@ElAgustin got it! Thank you for the response
The last couple of years have been really good, but the 16 year drought before that was painful.

#4. People lose time in the stock market. When the market goes down time is lost as the market recoups what was lost and is not making any money.

I want to this for my grandsons to have and not so much for me, due to I’m retired with a pension. Would love a video on how to pass your stocks on to someone. I realize you’re not a financial advisor, but curious how you would set these up for future generations. Also, maybe a video on what happens after you invest…like do you get monthly reports and is everything digital? Thanks for making investing less scary for us older folks.

Invest in yourself first, then diversify as the gains you will see from self investment is astronomical compared to anything else. Stay Uncommon!
so simply put: invest in index fund and hold for decades
My mother passed away and left me some money and
I put in VGS.
I fully agree. On my channel I show my approach to the subject.
You forgot to tell that we pay taxes on investments.
If so, let say everybody will go invest in index funds only, then nobody will ever lose money.

I'm beating inflation, without having to invest.
How? Inflation has been 100% for some items like gas these past couple years!?
By spending the money on things that will cost double or triple in a few years 🤦♂️🤷
Incorrect, there are ways and means to avoid costs.
You live in forest 💀
Im a long time investor and I have never been affected my any recession or times of high inflation by just living below my means and invest every payday

The Market have been suffering over the past month, with all the three indexes recording losses in recent weeks. My $400,000 portfolio is down by approximately 20%, any recommendations to scale up my returns before retirement will be highly appreciated.
Investing without proper guidance can lead to mistakes and losses. I've learned this from my own experience. If you're new to investing or don't have much time, it's best to get advice from an expert.
A lot of folks downplay the role of advlsors until being burnt by their own emotions. I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for licensed advisors and came across someone of utmost qualifications. She's helped grow my reserve notwithstanding inflation, from $275k to $850k.
How can one find a verifiable financial planner? I would not mind looking up the professional that helped you. I will be retiring in two years and I might need some management on my much larger portfolio. Don't want to take any chances.
Aileen Gertrude Tippy is the licensed fiduciary I use. Just research the name. You’d find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment..
Thank you for this tip. it was easy to find your coach. Did my due diligence on her before scheduling a phone call with her. She seems proficient considering her résumé.
