I wouldn't worry about being too aggro or rambly, you always give very detailed and fair analysis of changes, and go into the nitty gritty of WHY the changes might be good or problematic. Great work!
i sometimes feel like people who are pushing for "realistic" gameplay never ever have experienced things that they try to push into the game NOR they tried to do any research on topics. having extremely tunneled thinking is what creates such changes. pain is not stacking in real life as it is in the game - its more like u can feel your most awful wound hurting since most of your attention will be on it, other wounds will go to a second plan - your organism prioritizes its problems this way. also having pain system without adrenaline and other stress response systems that change how your body responses to wounds is pretty dumb, otherwise humans would not be able to survive such successfully.
Its clunky at the moment but there are plans to make it reasonable soon. As its an experimental thing i imagine it'll be fixed by the next stable version
People seem to forget what the "experimental" build *means.* Features are always in progress and they'll often be undercooked. There's nothing stopping you from remaining on a build from before the change and only updating when things are ironed out.
I still haven't seen it change anything in the game, I know the libraries were added and stuff, but I didn't see anything actually change as of the video cutoff, was there some big PR I missed?
Ouch, the pain PR sounds painful and I'm not even playing on experimental. Also, what the hell? I didn't know you can drop things on monsters. That knowledge could've made life so much easier!
8:55 Hello! I'm a bit new to the game and I have a question, although it has nothing to do with what is being talked about here. But does anyone know why the dodging skill appears with a fraction and decimal? It says 2.1/0, how am I supposed to interpret that? I'd appreciate if someone explains it thanks :)
I believe this is because it's showing your 'effective' dodge vs your dodge skill. I forget which side of the / is which, but if you put on or take off encumbering clothes you'll notice the number change, to show that you're less effective at dodging due to your encumbrance/gear/whatever. I'm not super familiar with dodge so can't give too much more info than that.
Maybe somebody in the dev team bumped their toe at the furniture and got paralyzed and decided that cdda characters should do the same from thirty small bruises all over

I agree, we definitely need an adrenaline system to balance this crap. The game generally focuses on PRs that make the game harder, not the opposite.
The pain overhaul is so painful to watch 😭

Painful update. Also good you are still alive, OP.
This is right on the edge of too realistic when it comes to pain and injuries, and may sacrifice too much game enjoyment.
For default 8/8/8/8 character there were barely any changes, the rate of pain at this levels is pretty close to what was before

There's also nothing saying this feature won't go into the full game and stay there like many PRs before it.
Pain changes gave me physical pain
Probably need to say something about imgui being mandatory from now, Kate is pushing really hard with new UI

Yay, the new pain stuff makes my early melee run near unplayable.
Babe wake up, ThemMurderUnicorn just uploaded a new video.
Pain? *Laughs in Prototype Mutagen*
Great work.

@@TheMurderUnicorn Oooh thank you!
Glad I made the switch to Bright Nights.
I do feel like the basic disease factor could be enhanced in C:DDA. I think there is only the flu and nothing else currently?
I'm holding off on updating until I've at least cleared the worst of this new town.

Cataclysm: dumb deaths ahead
