Tim has been an HUGE influence on me. He's not much of a player, but a hell of a song writer, and lyricist. His honesty in his lyrics, and his simplicity in his music....damn.
please post the uncut version at some point. Tim is such a fascinating person to chat with. I love how he explained when he knew it was time for Avail to end, which made complete sense.
I don't I've ever seen an interview someone who is as truely about the music as Tim Barry is. Thats not to knock or put anybody else down, Im not trying to say other musicians arent about the music but damn, theres nothing like hearing someone talk so passionately about their music.
I really like these gabbing videos cause it becomes so obvious how engaged you are with music and the music scene. To the extent of what's possible, keep these ones coming. I love 'em.
Tim says in this interview that he feels "insignificant". I could not disagree more. Avail, and Tim's solo stuff have got me through a lot of stuff. Physically and mentally. I've never met Tim, but I almost feel like I've shared portions of my life with this guy, just listening to his songs. I've always wished he'd play 'small town Saskatchewan"... but I don't see that happening.
I met Tim recently and hung out with him for a few hours and can honestly say I have never met a nicer, friendly and genuine person in my life. I gave him a ride to another city and he could have easily just said thanks and bye but he said hey, lets het lunch. He told me some cool stories but also listened to me.
Have listened to Avail since 1992 and still to this day...wish things went differently after Satiate...would love new stuff that mirrored that album...really bad...thanks for the years of enjoyment...hate to see that era go
